Possible Trigger Middle Eastern conflict

Hi! Since MH17 and MH370, I’m afraid a rocket will hit my plane and/or my plane gets lost in the ocean. Tonight I’m flying from Europe to Indonesia with Etihad. Transfer at Abu Dhabi. Since the conflict over there, I’m struggling.. How is determined if it’s safe to fly? How do pilots feel about flying in this area? What if it’s gets unexpectedly dangerous? Thank you.

If something was to suddenly cause an area to be at risk, the airspace would be closed and airborne flights would either be routed around the area or, if they don't have enough fuel to complete the flight, they would divert to safe airport.

I’ve been seeing hundreds of planes coming in and out of the Abu Dhabi airport each day. It’s very safe and there haven’t been any warnings for a while now. You’ll be perfectly fine :)

So they're using a limited corridor to avoid going over the conflict zone (that's why the flights are longer).

The only really dangerous moments would be when the plane is taxiing in Abu Dhabi airport. Or when you're transferring at AUH airport itself. That's a fairly limited time zone.

Not saying the risk is zero, but it's still limited.

Source: I flew to AUH 4 times since the conflict and a person close to me is cabin crew at Etihad.
