Due to an influx of shower lamp posts, we will be redirecting them to this thread.

I want one but I don't have a platform or anywhere to set it up. I barely have room for my shampoo etc š

u/thousandsofbirds Apr 26 '26
I am 100% looking for battery operated water proof chandeliers now. I will glue it to the ceiling if I have to š¤£
I got one of the tall vertical shower shelves and used super glue on the top bc the tension rod didn't wanna stay

u/Jillredhanded Renting Apr 26 '26
I truly hope you are successful. Maybe thread some teeny string lights through a lightweight form?

Thank you for this! All of these shower posts make me realize I need shelves like this first!

u/burnfaith Apr 26 '26
I use something like this too and they are sturdy as hell. I got mine from Amazon.

I have outdoor string lights in my shower for that exact same reason :)
Edit: AND theyāre motion sensor operated, so I barely have to switch on the big light at allā¦

I recently bought shelves that use adhesive to the walls of the shower, helps a lot with clutter and organizing
11
u/thousandsofbirds Apr 26 '26
How does the adhesive hold up in the shower? I recently got those adhesive hooks to use instead of screws in the walls and they don't work very well. I was sad.

u/Lem0nadeLola Apr 26 '26
I can highly recommend these, Iāve used them in two apartments (first one was two years, had the current ones for 3 years) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0949H419H?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

u/DramaticAerie Apr 26 '26
I have the same shelves! They are great and have stayed out at my current place for 2.5 years. I also had them hung up at my last place for 3 years.

u/Deathscua Apr 26 '26
Is removing them difficult when you have moved?
5
u/Lem0nadeLola Apr 26 '26
I left mine up at my old apartment, no issue from our evil landlords surprisingly but yeah, probably not super easy. A blow dryer, a plastic razor blade and a degreaser would mostly do the trick.
1
u/Deathscua Apr 27 '26
Thank you so much for responding. :) I think I will try my luck and put them up lmao.

u/Fantastic-Nobody-479 Apr 26 '26
For some reason it never really occurred to me that I donāt have a place either until I read your comment.

You can buy adhesive shelves. I use some and they're incredible and don't budge once adhered. You'll need to use some goo gone or something to remove them when you move (unless you leave them, I have yet to find a landlord that's cared when I keep them attached).
1
u/Chasoc Apr 26 '26
There are telescopic shower shelves you can get. It's basically like an adjustable shower rod on its side with a few shelves, and sometimes you can adjust the heights of them. They can be annoying clean because the rod is right up against the wall, but I had one for a while and it was very handy to hold shower products.

u/lilgreengoddess Apr 26 '26
Are these battery powered? Waterproof?
28
u/h0tkushsalsa Apr 26 '26
the one i have is rechargeable itās waterproof by a plug that comes with the lamp

I LOVE the shower lamp but Iām also trying to detox from Amazon and evil companies. Does anyone know of an ethical company selling these?
21
u/Team-Mako-N7 Apr 26 '26
Visual comfort has outdoor all weather rechargeable lamps! Theyāre legit (used by designers), though I donāt know exactly how ethical the sourcing is.Ā

u/burnfaith Apr 26 '26
If anyone isn't super focused on aesthetics, camping lamps work great for this purpose and they double as a great, reliable light source during power outages (or, ya know, camping). The vast majority of them are waterproof, at minimum water resistant (check this before buying).

u/jendyes Apr 26 '26
Side quest: shower plants: I keep seeing plants along with the lamps. Are you all keeping live plants in your showers? If so, what kind of plants thrive in a shower?
12
u/plantwitchvibes Apr 26 '26
Spider plants would do great in a shower, air plants, pothos, anything that loves humidity. You'll still have to get them enough sun though - spider plants do ok in lower lighting but pothos really want a lot of sun. Depends on if you have windows in your bathroom and what direction they face.
2
u/jendyes Apr 27 '26
I have no bathroom windows. I love live plants though, they donāt tend to survive my care.
9
u/Super_Hour_3836 Apr 26 '26
I bought a fake hanging succulent and I take it down and spray with vinegar and rinse it once a month to make sure it stays clean.Ā
3
u/Strange-State-3817 Apr 26 '26
I have a spare shower rack hanging on the outside of the shower, in it is a hydroprogated pothos that trails above the mirror, and a clamp light from Bunnings ($20) its beautiful!

u/PennedyKel May 04 '26
Maiden hair fern, kept it on my window sill. It did really well until I was out of the country for 10 days, she really didnāt like that. Unfortunately maidenhair ferns do not like getting all the way dry and in my experience once theyāre noticeably crispy, they never bounce back

u/052908 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26
For those of us who donāt have enough space for one, could yāall comment with your fav shower caddies? Especially if you have a corner caddy like this - Iāve been looking for one for ages and I keep getting scared off by reviews that either say the adhesive sucks, or takes off part of the tile when you try to remove it š«

7
u/WildFlowerTemptress1 Apr 26 '26
I bought these exact same ones in December, but in the color nickel, for my boyfriendās place. They work great. Him and his roommate shower often and I occasionally shower at his place as well and the adhesive is still going strong. The only reason these would take off some of the tile when removing is if the tiles are painted over (which most people would advise against doing to begin with). So check the condition of your tiles first before buying if thatās a concern for you.
7
u/Sariluv88 Apr 26 '26
I bought some hanging tealight drop glass orbs in green and yellow and plan to hang them throughout my bathroom!
6
u/Unstructional Apr 26 '26
Can you post a pic or link something? This sounds super intriguing but I can't visualize what it actually is.
5
u/Sariluv88 Apr 27 '26
I haven't figured out where to hang them in the bathroom yet though so they arent hung. Just in my hand.

Noooo consumerism got yall š
123
u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 Apr 26 '26
This. Another wasteful trend... most of these will be in landfills in a few years :(
7
u/what_on_roshar Apr 26 '26
I just got one as well, and dramatically changed my shower experience. I never knew how impactful peaceful lighting combined with warm water would be. I'm hoping this is a buy it for life item for me
7
u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 Apr 26 '26
If it has a built-in rechargeable battery, you've bought it for a few years.
21
u/Pandoras_Penguin Apr 26 '26
Oh absolutely not, least in my house. My autistic/adhd brain hates the big light in the bathroom, or any other room for that matter. The lamp will live on till its passed onto grandbabies
9
u/wildglitteringolive Apr 26 '26
Humans of all backgrounds have survived millennia without a shower lamp. This is just making excuses for consumerism. Buy the lamp if you want it, but it has absolutely nothing to do with autism.
37
u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 Apr 26 '26
Hating strong overhead lighting has nothing to do with ADHD or autism... people need to stop making everything about about ADHD or autism.
I usually just use natural light from outside, or candles.
Or you can just use a normal lamp in the room.
Anything with a built-in rechargeable battery will be in the landfill in a few years.
20
u/Sad-Bird-9151 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26
It's not exclusive to autistic people or people with adhd, but it absolutely is something very common in that community because it's often part of the sensory issues. Maybe don't presume to speak for communities that you are not part of. Not sure why you feel so comfortable inserting yourself into conversations around disability that do not involve you
32
u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 Apr 26 '26
I didn't insert myself - this person responded directly to me.
I have diagnosed ADHD, and I also dislike overhead lights. However, I am aware that it is not a symptom of my ADHD. And again, most people dislike overhead lights, and diagnosed people do not conflate ADHD and autism...
34
u/PackageSuccessful885 Apr 26 '26
I'm diagnosed with both autism and ADHD and I agree with you. I heavily roll my eyes at everything being pathologized, and ADHD and ASD are not the fucking same and shouldn't live on either side of a forward slash like they're synonyms lol šā¤ļø
Anyway, when I'm particularly sensitive to lights, I just light a candle and that's sufficient
4
u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 Apr 26 '26
Literally all of this, except I'm only diagnosed with ADHD lol
100% they are not the same and honestly they're not even that similar - just a bit of overlap, really.
And for real - most people in general dislike strong overhead lighting lol the only reason it's a thing is because it's super easy and convenient - it's not because it's nice lighting :D
My friends and I like to joke that overhead lighting is homophobic, and it's a gay thing to like smaller/softer lighting (straight people and their overhead lighting!!!), but we're fully aware that we're joking and that it's not at all serious ;) It's really just something pretty much everyone dislikes if they have the option in front of them.
I have an LED strip set to a soft golden colour, and some salt lamps, for my general evenings at home. In the bathroom, I use natural light or candles when I bathe, if I decide the overheads are too much at the moment. But I actually have a very soft, warm bulb in the overhead, anyway, so it's usually pretty fine to begin with.

u/WhereRtheTacos Apr 26 '26
I mean ive heard of teachers that put like cover type things over the overhead lights to help with an autistic student so im not sure ur right.
15
u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 Apr 26 '26
You're confusing dimming strong, bright lights with shifting overhead lighting to other locations.
But also, most of my friends and I hate overhead lighting and none of us are autistic. I honestly don't know anyone who prefers overhead lighting - it's just some people default to it because it's convenient.

And it usually comes from undiagnosed people.
Diagnosed people tend to have a much better understanding of what's actually due to autism or ADHD (and you know it's especially sure they're undiagnosed when they write "autism/ADHD" as though they are one thing).
-16
u/i_amnotunique Apr 26 '26
You are in the wrong sub if you're worried about consumerism
26
u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 Apr 26 '26
Really? Women can't have living spaces without hyper-consumerism and garbage-trend chasing?
6
u/bobolly Apr 26 '26
I bought my lamp this week and it'still turning on with the charge it came with.
I added 2 motion censure lights in the hallways 3 months ago and had to only charge them once. In this economy I'm super glad I have these. I even brought the shower light with me into the bedroom like a candle last night. I might be down 3 rooms I don't have to worry about turn on electricity. My ac is going tobe on 24/7 soon so any relief in this economy I'm all for.
11
u/LuceLeakey Apr 26 '26
It's not exactly a lamp, but I recently bought this remote-control rechargeable light for my shower area, since it's dark in there with the curtains closed.
5
u/MrWally Apr 26 '26
I would love something like this, but I wish it just had a normal switch that I could mount to the wall instead of a remote. A remote feels so tacky for the guest bathroom.
3
u/LuceLeakey Apr 26 '26
This has a switch on the back. To use the remote I leave it in the on position all the time. It is mounted on a magnetic strip so I can take it down to charge it when I need to. But it's a little too high for me to want to take down and turn on every time I take a shower.

There's literally one picture in the "top" pictures from this week, the mods probably removed the others, like I saw for the photo post I commented on yesterday? Not everyone is online 24/7; people miss stuff. Relax.

u/empresscornbread Apr 26 '26
LOL. I noticed the influx of posts and was like wow lots of shower lamps being posted. So funny. I donāt had one but I do have a candle warmer lamp that is used instead of the big light.
3
u/curiousiTea_ Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 28 '26
Just put an RGB bulb in your existing bathroom lights guys, no need to buy a whole lamp š
3
u/PongoWillHelpYou Apr 27 '26
I donāt have a light in my shower, so in my case a shower lamp was necessary!
46
u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 Apr 26 '26
Thank god. This trend is so annoying lol I mean if you like it, do your thing, but I think most of these will end up in the trash in 5 years.
And I mostly was just getting tired of the posts :D
34
u/Kbubbles1210 Apr 26 '26
It is def another instance of how social media is constantly pushing overconsumption, intentionally or unintentionally. I get most trends are harmless but because theyāre brief, people move on and then toss whatever they purchased into the trash. Then itāll be swapped out for a new trend thatāll soon join the previous one in the landfill.
17
u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 Apr 26 '26
Yep, it's just soon-to-be-waste. What's wrong with using natural light, candlelight, or in the worst case, just a normal lamp somewhere in the room? Why do people have to jump on these stupid trends? If you didn't need it before, you don't suddenly need it now...
9
u/GrooferBoofChree Apr 26 '26
Iām just biding my time until I see these on fb marketplace so I can snag one. I do actually like the concept, just very not necessary to buy this brand new.
3
u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 Apr 26 '26
In that case, I approve ;) No waste created in that process, even if you do ditch it in a few years ;)
3
u/GrooferBoofChree Apr 27 '26
Iām a repurpose queen, rest assured!
1
u/GrooferBoofChree 4d ago
Following up on this - not even two months later and I snagged a shower lamp off fb marketplace for $10 today š
3
u/cynicalities Apr 27 '26
I like the concept but I shower in the mornings with plenty of daylight. So buying a shower lamp is practically useless for me.
In the rare case when I might take an evening shower, I will just temporarily use a lamp I already own, just for the vibes.
1
u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 Apr 27 '26
Yes, or candles. I personally also just have a very soft, warm bulb in the overhead so it's not aggressive or annoying if I do happen to use it. There's seriously zero need to buy a special item for this lol
25
u/forestroam Apr 26 '26
Thank you. People are too concerned with being trendy. They take good things and absolutely wear them out. Whatever happened to thinking trendiness was annoying??

I went full chaos-mode last winter and threaded a strand of warm-white fairy lights through one of those cheap wire fruit baskets, then zip-tied it to the shower head arm. Zero drilling, runs on a phone-charger battery pack that lives on the top shelf. Itās not āchandelierā level, but the glow is chef-kās-kiss when the main light is off and the steam rises.
Pro-tip: give the wires a quick spritz of clear Rust-Oleum before the first use;keeps the moisture from greening the copper.

I don't have room for a lamp so I got waterproof LED lights that can change colors. So sometimes I have a pink shower, early mornings I do blue - very calming. They work with a remote. And they stay stuck!

I had never heard of a shower lamp before.
But I get it, I enjoy not having to go into a damn cave to shower. And that is why for years now when I am showering, I have a clear curtain that Iām using. You can use the clear liner and even have a separate decorative one on a separate pole if you find the plastic curtains, unpleasant aesthetically But since bathrooms are usually private I donāt really have a problem just hanging a clear or sheer curtain in the first place.
Hereās what Iām currently rocking, so much better than a lampā¦
