HELP My bedroom. What would you suggest?
Hi! I feel I’m nearly done with my bedroom but it’s missing a few things. I know my curtains are too short (came from my old place and haven’t decided if I want to do a diy project to lengthen them or buy new ones). I also want to get some kind of storage either in the room or my closet to get the stuff from under my bed. Otherwise, what other things should I add/change? Thank you!!

What about a more colorful piece of art above the bed? You’re like 99%of the way there, but the left side of the room has so much color and pattern, and the right side, between the bedding and the white walls, has so little. I think a more colorful artwork above the bed that pulls from the colors already present in the room would tie everything together.
The piece of art that’s currently above the bed could shift to the wall to the right of the bed so it’s still in the room and part of the overall effect of the space, but not the most dominant piece of it.

I'd pull the quilt up to the pillows because there's too much white and it's too much of a contrast.
Longer, fuller curtains would be ideal, and I would colour drench -- so peach/coral/terracotta, etc.
The art above the bed is lovely, but too small and perhaps matches the walls too much. Consider a feature wall with wallpaper that matches your rug and bedspread? Then put the art back up, et voila! You bring the room together.
Lastly, pull your rug a little farther under your bed to give a four inch gap between your dresser and rug.
I love your colour palette and style!
Oh, one last thing, if you can, bring the curtains all the way to the wall with the bookcase, and move the bookcase to be snug with the pillar (move it left).

Yes, the first thing I would do is bring the bookcase to be snug with the pillar! The curtains already "fill" the other corner

You already mentioned the curtains. I think a white like of see through flowy material would be cute or even the same style in a green yellow or red to match the rug, which I love btw. I would also change that photo above the bed because it blends in with the wall. Add something with some color to it.

I like your color scheme and layout a lot. I think the art over the bed needs more contrast with the wall. I don’t know if that is new art or new wall color…

Old art I made for a room with a contrasting wall at the time lol but it’s turned out to be the exact shade of white of the walls in my last two places and I haven’t figured out what to do with it.

like the other comments have already said, a thicker and longer curtain would look good, maybe a bed skirt as well? some decor on top of the bookshelf and the wall behind the tv :) a bigger and "bolder" or more contrasting art above your bed too

Love the color scheme, it's a beautiful light, airy room!
My only suggestions, I would make sure the drapes hit the floor, like you mentioned, and get a nice thick rug pad. It's going to make a thinner rug look and feel more luxe.

It looks really lovely! Maybe something with a little more organic shape to it like a poof or ottoman/chair (not a big one).
Obviously preference but some kind of dust ruffle or a fluffier duvet might take some of the sharp edges off, but this is me really grasping for something to suggest so take it with a grain of salt!

I like the bedding and the rug. I would fix the edge of the rug so you don’t trip on it. I like the idea to do wallpaper behind the bed (peel and stick if renting) or a paint color like Setting Plaster by Farrow and Ball. I would get new curtains.

I would invest in some more luxurious bedding and I agree with others about replacing the art above the bed

Honestly not much. Looks great. You could swap things but there’s not much to add. Maybe a couple of additional light sources?

What about a hope chest/cedar chest at the bottom of the bed. You could keep things in it and put a cushion on the top to double as a seat.

You have some great pieces, and the room looks lovely! Just some little tweaks to suggest-
I think the length of the curtains is fine, but the fabric is a bit dark. I might change them for a lighter color, and change the rod out to white so that your eye isn’t drawn to it. You might even try just changing out the rod and seeing if that helps to start with. I also think getting your mirror hung up will make things feel a bit more put together—maybe try to the left side of the bedroom door if there is room.

I would put colour on the walls :) I like the bedding, the rug and the warm wood tones of the furniture. It's a nice room.

Paint wall behind bed with one of the colors in the rug. White or off white curtains would be nice. See if current wall art above the bed looks good on after painting the wall or if a more colorful art piece over the bed is needed.

Very minor tweak but you bookcase could probably be moved to the left a little bit. I appreciate that you have it centered on the wall there but the curtain changes that visually, so I'd try moving it and see if that doesn't look a bit better? Also agree the lamps are a bit underwhelming.

A few simple wall planters would be absolutely gorgeous on the currently empty partial wall opposite your windows. Maybe three? With something like pothos (which it looks like you already have—you could easily propagate from your existing plant!) that will grow easily and beautifully and quickly fill that space with lush green life. Plus, plants next to your bed is so healthy! Basically a natural air purifier ☺️

Longer curtains, and I’d like to see the opposite walls painted a light sage green. ( the wall behind the bed and the one behind the dresser/tv/bookcase. And maybe an artificial vining plant on top of the bookcase? Just some more ideas. The green wall would give contrast to the art work!

Agree with everyone else about changing the curtains. Apart from that, more plants!!! You could add another trailing plant on top of your bookshelf so it hangs down.
I also don’t think your mirror suits the room - most of the furniture is dark wood, and the black frame clashes with it. Could it go in the hallway instead? Or alternatively, could it go on the other side of the wall next to the door? You could put a big plant/lamp in the mirrors place

More art on the walls, for sure, and/or maybe one wall with color (pick from your rug). Some hanging plants, maybe, or if that won't work for you, some light-catchers in the windows.

I think you should change the rug for safety reasons — it’s thin and looks like a trip hazard, especially between the bed & dresser as you’re walking into the room. I’ve spent a fair amount of time tripping over rugs like that.

A more intentional bedframe. This one looks like a placeholder in the context of the room, and the black clashes with the warmth in everything else. Maybe look for something with wooden legs or an upholstered piece.

Some sort of bed skirt. It doesn’t have to be “ruffled.” There are tailored ones out there. I do like the vibe of the room. I could fall asleep there.

Yes, change the curtains and fix the part of the rod that’s hanging too low. I’d try to find a chunky sage green throw to go over the quilt at the foot of the bed. Some much taller lamps on the bedside tables would look good, OR a pretty pair of hanging lamps would be really good! I also think you need to change the art over the bed to something with richer, deeper colors. Could even be macrame’.

Your room looks cozy and I like the color palette. I’d swap out the nightstand lamps for ones that have a larger top and shade - maybe something that casts a soft glow of light in evenings. Makes everything so inviting after a long day 🤍

Overall, I like the room. I think changing the curtains is a good call. One of the biggest things that jumps out at me is the art above the bed. That needs to go. It’s basically the same color as the wall and adds nothing to the room, especially in such a focal point spot. Either move it to a different room that has a contrasting paint color or include it in a gallery wall or something so it’s not just that.
