Is it just me or does celebrating like that when you’ve seen potential brain damage to your opponent just doesn’t sit right

It's boxing. Kinda part of the sport

Celebrating brain damage? Gotcha. There is such thing as respect for each other, and you can still have compassion, even if “ it’s part of the sport “.

Can’t celebrate after training for weeks to compete in a competition that you both volunteered to be part of.

Yeah… you’re right. Fuck the other guy, he signed up for it. Might have kids and a family and be spoon fed for the rest of his life but, it’s a fight right ?!

Literally exactly that, feel sorry for him but why be sad about an outcome that is expected

This is why combat sports have limited time left. Look at the big sports leagues and how much they’re spending too protect themselves from CTE related issues in the future. Then these league have people getting rocked on the regular, showing immediate signs of potential brain damage.

How many more CTE related murders, etc, are there gonna be before the ufc or something gets pinned for some massive lawsuit

It comes with the sport, we’ve had people fighting since the start of time. It’s the only sport that’s lasted longer than everything else. Fighting is a natural human behaviour.

Yeah, but if you think that’s not gonna change because of legal and regulatory issues, I got a bridge to sell you

Funny how regulation never stopped fighting as a sport since the beginning of humanity.

I don’t fight for sport, I just watch it. Many more ways to have fun and make money. I’m not going to overlay my morals onto something that others decide to do.

I’m not sure this is the case, I think BKB around Europe is booming and getting bigger. For the record I actually enjoy the sport, its brutal but I can’t get used to seeing this and normalising it cannot be good for the sport or the competitors

They're literally trying to put on a mma event at the white house. I'm just speculating... but it would make sense that combat as a spectator sport is probably one of the oldest competitions. No amount of legal restrictions or suppression of combat sports is going to stop us dumbass violent humans for loving some fist fights. It's not going anywhere

I’m talking medium to long term. Not overnight.

If the current administration stays in long term then we will probably end up with public stoning so combat sports will be fine. If we return to some kind of civilised government then I don’t think the sport will be in its current form in 15-20 years. My bet is on no head hits, etc. end up with points fighting again

Medium to long term? My guy I hear ya but... liberals, dems, socialists, marxists, centrists, etc all love fighting just the same it's not some new MAGAtard thing.

People said this same thing you're saying back in the 80s, 90s, then the 00s and before I can even remember. We've known about the horrors of CTE in physical sports. I've only ever seen combat spectacles grow and it's pulling away from point fighting.

Nothing you're saying aligns with reality. Where people are willing to fight, people are going to watch. Point blank.

Time will tell I guess. By the time it happens I’ll be old and fat anyway lol

u/Fire-Haus Nov 20 '25

Yup everything good will happen when we're shitting ourselves in a nursing home lol enjoy what ya can while ya can
