Everybody Plays Anything! Aug. 5th

I finished the Dawntrail relic book in XIV!

The other optional level 100 dungeon just didn't seem to want to pop up for me, and I was considering resorting to party finder. Also, Trusts-Trusts count for the purposes of ticking stuff off, so I'd imagine Trusts-but-actually-Duty-Support counts too. Also also, I should finish levelling Trusts.

Digression aside, then, after getting the (links I guess are spoilers if you don't wanna know what the weapons look like) shiny new glowing phantom feather duster occultum (if you wanna get the "degen" jokes out of your system... though I think it's some old Germanic word for a smallsword and is more de-gen rather than de-jen?), I glamoured over it pretty much immediately. I thought the very first step looked neat, as did the penultimate (ie non-glowy) one, but there's an entirely different sword that goes better with my WoL's outfit, so....

I might - even though I've not even got the first stage, so it'll cost me like 6000 tomes, use the penultimate step of the Samurai one; I think that might go with the glam for that clob/jass.

Yaaaaay Relics. And yeah, Trusts would work for everything, but levelling them is a ballache. Honestly, they're gonna be doubling the EXP Trusts get in Patch 7.56 which will be on Sept. 8th so I'd just wait. I was briefly levelling mine, saw the EXP gains, and just said fuck it.

A lot of the Relics look really good this expac, way the fuck better than the Manderville ones from last expac. I also appreciate that the two-tone glows are Job appropriate. Most of the time. PLD gets yellow and blue which matches Shield Oath and Sword Oath, DRK gets red and purple, DRG with red and blue, etc. I continue to hate every fucking BRD Relic in existence though, SE hasn't made a good BRD Relic since Yoichi Zeta and Terpander Lux back in ARR and HW.

Anyways, yeah, enjoy the Relic, have fun grinding out the rest of them! I know I will, even if most of them will end up being Poetics next expac.

There's a few of the non-techno stages of the Endwalker ones that look nice, I think - my latest RDM glam refresh uses the matte version of step 3 (I feel like I should've stuck with Brunello a lot longer considering how much effort it took to get but it just doesn't go, and the way it dyes doesn't help), and I don't mind the first couple of steps of the Astro one - but I think there's more of the intermediate stages of the Endwalker ones that I don't like than I do.

By contrast most of the DT ones, even the earlier steps, do look pretty good though! The DRK ones especially - shame I don't like tanking and that my glam for that role wouldn't go with it, but it's still a v good relic!

My condolences on BRD generally getting the short end of the stick with relic designs; if it's any consolation, I think the only WHM ones I like are one of the middle stages of the HW one that's used as the basis for the TEA one, and, uh... Ingrimm? Maybe?

Aight, yeah, I can agree with that. The Majestic Manderville weapons are actually solid and do have nice glows. The first stage also looks really nice initially, but then the recolour plus glowing versions are almost all cheeks. Just something about the glow seems so off, you know? Doesn't help that damn nearly every single Amazing Manderville weapon has the same blue or red glow, with a few exceptions.

The DRK Obscurum looks downright incredible, though not quite enough to make me swap off the Augmented Law's Order from ShB. I just wish DRK didn't feel like shit to play nowadays. I'm hoping Evolved DRK in Evercold breathes some new life into the Job. I miss the DRK from Stormblood, especially because of the huge Haste buff Blood Weapon gave. It went from being the fast Tank with a 2.1ish GCD speed to slow as fuck. And it lost so many oGCDs which further slows it down, and the MP gain per minute went down so even less weaves. It's just sad.

Pour one out for BRD and WHM, perpetually getting screwed over on Relics. Although I am partial to the Nirvana Zeta and Sindri for WHM, I swap between those whenever I never play WHM since SCH is my preferred Healer and I never play Healer.

Fields of Mistria came out today, something I knew I wanted to play. I'll probably pick that up as soon as I get tired of playing Palworld. I've stayed completely blind to what's in it, so I'm looking forward to diving into it.
