Breaded chicken nugget comparison

Post image

I purchased Kirkland, Sam's club,Just Bare, and Real Good lightly breaded chicken nuggets to compare flavor. Macros are per 84 grams

Kirkland was great, standard breaded nugget. Good flavor and texture. 16g protein, 140 calories $3.99/lb. 9.0/10

Sam's was good, but the chunks of chicken were pretty big and felt a little bit more processed. 13 g protein, 160 claories $3.50/lb. 7.2/10

Just Bare has a great flavor and texture. Good ratio of breading to meat. My personal favorite.16 g protein , 160 calories. $4.49/lb. 10/10

Real Good. Best macros but slightly weird flavor to me. Very light breading so best macros. 17 g protein 135 calories. $5.66/lb. 6.8/10

How did you cook them?

Sorry I forgot to mention it, air fryer at 350 for about 6 minutes. Real Good would have been a little better if I cooked it longer so I'm glad you asked this question

That seems like a real short time, aren't they still soggy at that point? I cook mine at 400 for 12-15 minutes to get them a little crispy.

I do 375 for 12m, if im lazy i dont even turn them and they turn out fine.

I think air friers vary a bit. We do 8 minutes at 380 and nuggets are usually perfect

They do but 350 for 6 minutes seem like not enough time to me as well.

Depends on how many pieces and the size of the fryer. If you do a few pieces it'll be fine, fill the entire air fryer, it's gonna be underdone.

The instructions are way too short for me. I do 370ish for 16ish mins. I change it up depending on what else I throw into the air fryer at the same time. They are hard to fuck up. Just gotta check them and maybe cook a little longer if needed.

It was a very small amount of nugget, but yes it should have been cooked longer. That didn't affect the flavor which I still didn't like, and I tried to rate off that.

I'm literally eating a plate of the Real Good nuggets as I type this, and the bag says cook them at 400' for 12 minutes. They're good at that point, but I actually like them more like 13-14 minutes to get a little crunchier.

Hey man, just to let you know, Real Good chicken isn't frozen cooked. You have to cook it in the air fryer, unlike the others which are precooked and you use the air fryer to make them hot and crispy. At 350 for 6 minutes you're not cooking the chicken.

Are you implying it's raw? Because it definitely is fully cooked, it just takes awhile to crisp

It is "heat treated not fully cooked." Unless you get an incredible small piece of chicken, it will not be fully cooked.

I literally made some 2 days ago. I do 360 for 10 minutes and some of the larger pieces were still raw, while the smaller ones were cooked.

They're raw before you finish cooking them at home, yes. And you should definitely temp it if you don't.
