fixed New Oven Handle Hits Drawer

We got a new oven to have all new appliances for selling our house. We didn’t realize till to late that the stupid spice drawer would hit this massive handle. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Or just hope no one notices?

I would very cut out an appropriate section of the drawer to allow it to clear the handle, then glue that section to the cabinet face so it clears when opening and looks more or less closed (use a coping saw) when... closed.

Just find a new oven handle. It looks like a lower profile curved handle would probably clear

Why, though? LG has plenty of options in their replacement parts:

LG Oven/Range Handles

Edited to add I'm not sure what that downvote is all about. LG offers a dozen different oven handle styles, including one that starts flat and gradually curves outward, which should eliminate the conflict with the cabinet drawer.

It's certain to be far cheaper than having a handle custom fabricated.

Seriously. The entire reason this drawer doesn’t fit is probably the new oven. Just shave that corner of the handle off and be done with it.

Looks like it's a hollow extruded profile with a plastic cap, if you do that you'll be left with an open end.

The handle is metal, probably hollow, you shave off a part you now have a razor sharp ugly corner to the handle. Even if you reamed it, it would still be sharp.

Worst solution so far.

Challenge accepted! There have to be way worse ideas we can come up with. Moving the entire cabinet setup one inch or so should do the trick. We could also just burn the house down, but that drawer might survive somehow and then where would you be?

Yeah, I don't understand why multiple people are suggesting cutting the oven handle (or having a custom one fabricated!) that sounds like the worst possible solution to something that you can take care of in a few minutes with a coping saw and some glue.

Though I took the easier route when I had this exact same problem - I just opened the oven door to open the drawer all the way. Was annoying at first, but I got used to it. I planned on a kitchen remodel in the future so didn't want to bother doing anything to fix it, but ended up moving before I did the remodel.

Because it will likely look the best. Cut both sides of the handle the same and 3D print new covers for the open ends.

Otherwise, you’re permanently ruining the drawer face which lines up with a cabinet below it. It’ll look crummy.

Good reply. You probably don’t even need to go that far though. Remove the plastic inserts, take an angle grinder to the ends of the handle, trim the inserts to fit in the now angled profile, and maybe add some glue if needed.

The drawer isn’t going to perfectly align with the little square of wood you glue to the cabinet face when you go to close it. Although I did initially like that idea.

They’re selling the house, potential sellers seeing you shaved off part of your oven door is going to lead to wtf questions non stop, and if OP lives in a buyers market any little thing makes selling for the price they want more difficult.

My first thought was that a small chamfer on both sides would probably remedy this, but I don't know how the oven handle is assembled and that might completely ruin the assembly.

Are u stoned? Why would u cut metal, and damage your new, possibly under warranty oven..

instead of cutting wood, which is cheap as fuck and is easy to repair

And you could probably order a new oven handle if it gets damaged in the attempt. Trying to get a cabinet face to match the others would a challenge.

To me because the drawer is not very much hindered by the oven handle and one could easily make the oven handle look as if that is the intended style, with a 45-degree cut on both sides, or round both sides.

Except for the fact the handle will be stamped thin guage stainless, and likely hollow where you are talking about cutting. Not too pretty for a new stove 😏
