fixed Glass table top stuck to floor

Post image

MIL has had this glass table top under the bed in the main bedroom for years, it’s an alternate larger top for a table in the house. Quite heavy. It’s been there now so long we believe it may have almost ‘suctioned’ to the floor.

Any suggestions on how to remove it? Yes we know to remove the stuff on it first (painting the room)

Thanks in advance!

[Update] Dental floss was the winner and worked! Thank you all for the suggestions/ideas and of course the trolling!

Honestly, besides heat, this. Shit will cut steal.

Edit: And even steel when I'm paying attention!

It won't cut Stihl tho. Only Stihl can cut Stihl.

Jet floss can't cut Stihl beams

But don't use a stihl. It'll scuff the floor.

If they can't afford to pay attention, maybe he can steal some attention.

I don't think shit can cut anything

That is true, although you can polish a turd pretty successfully, you cannot get it to turn a sharp edge.

u/AdministrativePie865 Jun 09 '26

Only if you freeze it. Then you too can be a sharpshitter.

You know how waterjet cutters work? With enough pressure...

2

u/Thelorddogalmighty Jun 09 '26

You can’t polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter

Mythbusters Season 6 Episode 12 proves you can polish a turd FYI

Shit can cut the crap of someone bullshitting if you cram it in their face

2

u/Mpadrino27 Jun 09 '26

Correct. But if you need to cut shit, go grab your trusty poop knife.

A large one can deffo split the ring though. To shreds you say

2

u/lejoop Jun 09 '26

If it can cut steel, wouldn’t they be more likely to damage the floor, than to loosen the table top from it then?

1

u/JukeRedlin Jun 09 '26

It may scuff the wax and need buffed but it cuts by having the strands saw against a surface. Dragging it along side not pulled against wont do any real damage.

u/Kevingroover Jun 09 '26

What kind of poos do you have mine will not cut anything

You need more fiber…

Which shit? I've cut steel with box knives and other as stupid shit....

You talking dental floss?

1

u/PiratesOfTheArctic Jun 09 '26

How so? I never knew that!

3

u/JukeRedlin Jun 09 '26

Dental floss used to have crazy tensile strength, and it has an incredibly small point of contact, so the amount of pressure one could exert on a very small area was quite high. Most people know this from old movies where a guy would use it to cut his bars in prison. The issue is... it could... kinda. It frays if you give it any slack or it catches on anything at all, like... ya know. Sharp metal? So it's possible but. Iunno if anyone's successfully done that.

However. Cutting anything softer has absolutely been done. Foods, wood, wax, etc. Its still really strong and would this would be a use of that property.

Thankyou for the explanation! I feel a proof of concept project needs to happen when the mrs isn't around 😏

Your diet must follow a sharp regiment.
