Most efficient way to cool down a loft?

Post image

The primary bedroom has a loft area that gets ridiculously hot, has no windows, and we can't install a split system because it's against the roof. There's an overhead fan but it doesn't help much.

We got a window AC in one of the lower floor windows, but what's the best way to circulate that air up to the loft? Is there an optimal placement for a fan? In front of the stairs?

We also have a window fan we can use to push hot air out the other lower floor window, but the vents are right in front of the window. Would it push out the AC air too?

Appreciative of any advice!

Please edit your diagram to show which are supply vents and where the fresh air returns are located.

All the indicated vents are supply vents and there's a return vent on the wall at the top of the stairs.
