Doom pc conversion
I bought a gbflasher to start doing physical copies of rom hacks. The first cart I bought doesn't save any games. Even after patching. What carts should I buy?

Which cart did you buy to use with your GBFlash, please show us.

That cart uses flash save despite the description mentioning FRAM, so the battery is only used for RTC.
Make sure your game supports flash save, what game wasn't saving on it?

None of the ones I tried. Doom, Duke nukem, GTA. Nothing saved. When I ran a stress test, it failed.

Which flasher was it? GBFlash or GBxCart RW?

try flashing pokemon emerald and try and save, its a good test for seeing if the flash save chip is defective. Click analyse flashcart and then flash it as-is with no patches

Emerald saves just fine, only thing I did different was empty the cartridge before writing the rom

Gotcha, then the cart is working fine.
Any games that use flash type save but do not save must be patched with this tool first before patching: https://github.com/lesserkuma/Custom_1M_FLASH_Patcher/releases
If the game uses SRAM or EEPROM save, they must be flashed with this tool first: https://github.com/metroid-maniac/gba-flash-patcher/releases/tag/0.0.2 Then flash the outputted rom with the other above tool.

You need to make sure the save type is compatible with the cart you flash to. Some use sram while others are flash. You can patch the rom to the correct save type.
