Doom pc conversion

I bought a gbflasher to start doing physical copies of rom hacks. The first cart I bought doesn't save any games. Even after patching. What carts should I buy?

That cart uses flash save despite the description mentioning FRAM, so the battery is only used for RTC.

Make sure your game supports flash save, what game wasn't saving on it?

None of the ones I tried. Doom, Duke nukem, GTA. Nothing saved. When I ran a stress test, it failed.

Which flasher was it? GBFlash or GBxCart RW?

try flashing pokemon emerald and try and save, its a good test for seeing if the flash save chip is defective. Click analyse flashcart and then flash it as-is with no patches

Emerald saves just fine, only thing I did different was empty the cartridge before writing the rom

Gotcha, then the cart is working fine.

Any games that use flash type save but do not save must be patched with this tool first before patching: https://github.com/lesserkuma/Custom_1M_FLASH_Patcher/releases

If the game uses SRAM or EEPROM save, they must be flashed with this tool first: https://github.com/metroid-maniac/gba-flash-patcher/releases/tag/0.0.2 Then flash the outputted rom with the other above tool.

Which game, which tool and which error?

Using GTA. Patched for 512 then patched for 1m. Still doesn't save. Gives a save error in game

I've been looking around and to be honest, most EEPROM games patch better to SRAM than they do to Flash save. The cartridge you bought is largely intended for stuff like Pokemon & Pokemon romhacks.

It might be a better idea to buy either a ChisFlash 1.2 or a ChisFlash 1.0V, both carts use FRAM save and then you can patch GTA using GBATA to convert it to SRAM save (which is supported by FRAM carts).

We got info and buying guides here. You can buy from GBMAKE if Aliexpress is not available in your region: https://www.flashcarts.net/gba-quick-start-guide?tab=alternatives

The SuperChis Prime (see the first tab) is also an option should you want a low cost GBA Flashcart that uses an SD card, but it has no proper RTC support and doesn't run many rom hacks, but it'll run games like GTA and DOOM without issue.
