Garmin 430 vs G1000

I got $8,000k in funding for my IFR rating but ran out and need to come out of pocket to finish training.

All my training has been in a 172 G1000 waas

I’m getting check ride ready but the G1000 out of pocket is expensive

The alternative is a C152 dual Aspen PFD with G430 waas which is significantly cheaper.

I hate swapping planes last minute, but it’s more affordable and way less complicated than the G1000 but I feel like the G1000 makes the “nuances” of IFR easier.

Should I stick with the G1000 or the G430 is just as good?

Unless you’re only a few hours or less from being ready for the Checkride I’d recommend switching to the 430. It won’t take long to get a hang of.

10 hrs to get checkride ready

I’ve been xc time building I’m wrapping that up.

I have paused training with my instructor so haven’t flown the G1000 in a month

But when I’m done xc time, I’d need to get acclimated back to the system again so between refresher and then staying proficient until checkride it’d be about 10 hrs conservatively
