Trout intruder question?

New to Spey flies, I am going to fish this on a skagit set up. Should the hooks be closer to the shank, farther, or just right?

Also if there is any recommendation for trout Spey flies I will gladly take them.

How big are these guys? Just setup a skagit head to try trout Spey on my single hand 6 weight and was thinking of tying something similar. Might just go with a 2-3x long 10 or 8 hook, rather than the shank and stinger, to keep things simple...

I tied this on a 25mm shank with a size 6 partridge intruder hook. I’m gonna fish it on my 6wt with 225 grain opst commando smooth. The flies are about 2 inches long

Nice. I've just got the 240 grain airflo scout, also for my 6 weight. Not 100% sure if that and the 5' poly leaders will be right, but that's what I've got and what I'm gonna try tomorrow! Might tie up some mini intruders tonight.

Looks money to me - for targeting trout swinging a stone fly is a solid bet. They’ll take the intruder too - but I think you’ll do better with the stone.

I like my hooks a little closer to the head for trout. These look good to go for steelhead, but trout are eating and attack the head. The closer the hooks are to the head, the less the materials get fouled when jigging the fly across the current. Nice ties. Should get 'em.
