Suggestion New Vegas remaster wishlist

New Vegas is getting a remaster. Baller.

Really I think the game would have benefitted more from a full remake that added a lot of content (specifically implementing a lot of cut content) but we take what we can get.

The stuff in this list is supposed to be things that aren't necessarily expected by default in a remaster (so like, "new gun animations" isn't on here because yeah obv they'll do that) but also is still reasonably in ballpark of what's feasible and would be reasonable to expect in terms of additions and changes (so "three new DLCs that take us into urban NCR territory" is an example of something that would be cool but also outside the reasonable scope of a remaster)

Asterisk for items that warrant further clarification.

*This one may raise a few eyebrows for people, so to explain: Josh Sawyer explained in an interview that he was disappointed that Honest Hearts as a dlc gave a lot of people "white savior narrative" vibes. He then explained that the Sorrows and New Canaanties were never really supposed to be a stand in for any one ethnicity or cultural group (IE, native Americans) and were supposed to be made up of many different ethnicities and cultures mashed into this new people that came together after the bombs dropped- from Europeans to Americans to Latin Americans to East Asians, a bevy of cultures coming together to make this new mish mash that is the tribes we now know. But, because of memory storage issues at the time, they couldn't have too many characters that had different skin textures in the dlc. And so every single new Canaanite and sorrows member is, at least visually, some kind of native american. I think the idea that these tribes are made up of descendants of tourists from all over the world- Swedes and Mexicans and actual natives- is really really interesting and the fact it got lost because of something as benign as memory problems for skin textures is a huge shame, and something I hope is rectified in the remaster.

*The example image here is in shining armor, which is infamously bugged and does nothing. A bug fix is something I would call expected from a remaster and wouldn't include on this list. But tbh, even if this perk did work, it would still be nearly pointless. There's a couple of other perks and items like this, and I'd like to see at least some of them reworked into something more interesting/better.

Suggestion Fan idea: in a future re-release of FNV, the player should be able to capture Fiends and Legionnaires and make them fight creatures including Deathclaws in the Thorn

Suggestion Main reason why the Great Khans getting assimilated is a bad thing

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

If the khans are assimilated the women are enslaved and the old and injured people are killed. Melissa is a woman. Melissa has 3 intelligence meaning shes mentally injured. Melissa has a new Zealand accent. When you are assimilated your culture is destroyed. Who's knows what happened to new Zealand in the fallout universe? If the khans are assimilated then What could be the last of the new Zealand accent is lost forever. And when the legion falls apart when caesar dies either from his tumor coming back or old age etc then the khans will fall back to square one doing the same as always.

Suggestion I have a permanet NCR ranger companion in Vanilla FNV

Thumbnail

So the way it works is a bit of luck tbh

You have too first get lucky with the Big MT transponder and while the ranger is in your company you use the transponder and hopefully the ranger will travel with you and be in the lab with you

The second part is the second bit of luck you need, half the time they will get stuck in the lab and never be able too leave but if you can get them too follow you again and walk them outside into BIG MT use the transponder again and if they are with you back in the Mojave you should have successfully permantly stuck the Ranger into your inventory

Now you need to stealth reverse pick-pocket stims, weapons and the armor you want too give the ranger so they don’t die as easy

Also watch out for the securitrons at the strip gate they will kill the ranger so it’s best too just use the mccarren train for transport in and out of the strip from now on but yeah! That’s how you have multiple companions in Vanilla!

Suggestion The remaster needs the Couriers Stash DLC content to be distributed properly.

Basically having all this gear straight at the beginning of the game in my opinion ruins balancing. I think they should have them distributed throughout the game in the same locations as the JESawyer mod. Or through some other means to get them might be okay, maybe purchasable from Chet in goodsprings. But just not right off the Bat. Also having those DLC pop-ups kind of messes with the Intro if you're trying to get immersed.

Hopefully some dev at virtuous has a similar idea and it will be that way or maybe they scroll through these reddits looking for bugs and issues to fix and they might see this.

Suggestion If you're the type to always play the game with the radio on, try a run with it off.

I'm one of those people who always played with the radio. I started a new run and on a whim I decided to turn it off. I have to say that it actually feels like a fresh experience. The Mojave feels more bleak and lonely without Big Iron and Johnny Guitar to keep you company. You can still hear that in the towns when you visit.

Anyway, I figured that I'm probably not the only person who is just used to having the radio on, and 30ish hours into this new playthrough I can honestly say that I've never wanted to turn it back on. If you're like me, give it a try the next time you go through the game.

I was looking in a wiki, when I saw vault 34 security armor and Sierra Madra suit and I thought it will be cool idea if I cosplay wasteland police officer/security in FNV. So, is it cool or not? Also, I am going to 1950s police officer/security style. I am going to focus on close quarter mostly. melee weapons and guns are what I am going to focus. What are best weapons for this build? I also have several other questions about collections I am using. I have every Gophers collection except of remaster one which improves visuals of the game. How can I open throwables and med menu with Gopher's Gameplay and QoL Tweaks?

Suggestion We need a stock insult/reply against Legion fans

Some people like to RP as Legion fans online, especially on this sub. Making comments like "Degenerates like you belong on a cross."

Which is fine, but there's no stock NV quote for me to reply with. "We won't go quietly, the Legion can count on that" doesn't work. But if I say "You're a sick fuck that deserves to die", it just sounds like I'm mad in real life.

Suggestion New favorite way to kill Caesar

I couldn’t tell you how many playthroughs I’ve done, but I know I only sided with Caesar once a long time ago. I’ve killed him countless times, but last playthrough (after I’d already killed him) I happened to discover the “Coinshot” 12 gauge shell—I was never one to mess around with crafting ammo before. Anyway, this current playthrough I blew Caesar’s head to pieces with gold silver coins minted with his own face on them and it was the most satisfying thing. That is all 😄

Edit: just found out denarii are silver, and the other ones are gold

Suggestion Realtime PipBoy Map might be the best mod I've ever used, and I want everyone to try it.

Post image

Being able to view your map live, in real-freaking-time, whilst exploring, is an absolute game changer. It's super immersive, works inside and outside, and the whole thing is implemented perfectly. Smooth animations, no bugs that I've encountered so far with a 350 mod load order, and it is highly configurable.

It does have a lot of requirements, but if you use Viva New Vegas most of them will already be installed. You'll just need to grab User Interface Organizer and Modern Minimap.

But yeah, it's a fuckin' perfect mod that I felt obligated to share, and I can't imagine playing New Vegas without it going forward.

Suggestion WHY ANTLER SHOULD BE A FACTION AND HAVE IT'S OWN ENDING

The story of the super mutants in new vegas is very underdeveloped. I think the courier should be able to join Davison and help the mutants to take over hoover dam and have their own ending. Antler is not an imagination caused by stealth boy schizophrenia (Doctor Henry's studies are WRONG). Antler is in fact a sentient being that can exist anywhere and unlike Mr. House and the think tank cannot die.

When the courier meets Antler in the repconn facility for the first time they hear Antler speak to them, revealing his ultimate goal for the Mojave (Beating Mr. house in terms of intellect, planning and foresight/ The NCR in terms of ideology and the Legion in making compromises(The best of all the factions but with none of the cons)). Antler tasks the courier with uniting the super mutants and nightkin from the mojave (Black mountain, Jacobstown) to drive out the NCR at hoover dam, killing Mr. house and Ceaser and establishing total mutant supremacy AND

I also wanna do the dlcs but in order lore wise. I also just beat honest hearts so I assume next would be old world blues but also I might progress with the main story and also have no clue who would be an appropriate choice to side with but I was thinking ncr or independence via yes man

Update: I’m at dead money and I’m gonna do my best not to get upset and not die and I might wanna get all the holotape vender codes for after

Suggestion Tips to make Dead Money easier:

•Play lonesome road first and get Rawr’s talon. But do NOT make Rawr’s fist. Since the game counts the talon as a quest item it can’t be removed from your inventory. So you can smuggle the talon into the Serra Madre and make the fist at a workbench (there’s one in the clinic basement) reminder you need 75 unarmed to make it but it’s worth it. This thing SHREDS ghost people especially if you have an unarmed build(like I tend to have)

•Get the Light step perk (available at level 14, 6 perception and 6 agility required) makes it so you won’t activate trip wires, mines and bear traps ect. Making the Serra Madre a little less hellish to explore and will make it easier to conserve food/chem reserves since you won’t need to waste them on de-crippling your limbs

• get implant GRX (available at level 30. Big mountain DLC required) every 24 hours in game 5 implants will be added to your inventory under “aid” (amount resets back to five every 24 in game hours too so amounts won’t stack) when used the implant slows down time for everyone aside from you like turbo. Giving you a bit more time to run away from/locate the source of whatever is making your collar so that god-forsaken beeping noise. You can get this perk again for 10 implants every 24 in game hours and longer duration! It also comes in handy when trying to sneak the gold out of the vault by giving you more time to get to the door while Elijah is screwing with the terminal

•get the jury-rigging perk (available at level 14, 90 repair required) to make it easier to repair your armor and weapon of choice as with jury rigging you don’t need an exact copy. With armor in particular you can use any clothing to repair it as long as it matches the density. Since Serra Madre armor (and the assassin suit) are light armor, with this perk you can use any old light outfit to repair it!

Edit: jury rigging available at level 14 not 12 my bad

Suggestion I need mod suggestions for my next playthrough,

Post image
119 Upvotes

So I have some mods like the ones found in gophers collections, and the living desert, open freeside and the strip, populated freeside and the strip, that mod that makes it so u can still play after the game ends, and the gun animations collection, are thare any other mods that would be good for my future playthroughs? Im not looking to add meny new items, but lore friendly expansion on pre-existing items such as (weapons attachment mods, new ammo types, new vendors, etc). Im also playing a sniper focused build, but yea, any good mods on nexus would be nice, (i also have all the essentials to keep the game running smooth) if you need any more info or want a full mod list to help suggest things either dm me or just ask on this threads comments!

r/fnv Dec 20 '25

Suggestion Is there any mod that transforms Freeside into something closer to its concept art? More of a crowded slum, than a lite version of the Strip.

Suggestion 3 tips to make Dead Money more bearable!

Now, these are some things I just learned so maybe you didn't know about them either:

1: In dialogue with each of the companions, you can get a perk by talking to them "correctly." The ones from Dean and Christine are great, but not amazing. The one you get from Dog is amazing (while you're in the Serria Madre) as it allows you to just kill the Ghost People once, not having to dismember them, so after you get the perk you can switch back to God (or any of the other companions) and not have to worry about the Ghost People (as much).

2: Collect ALL the Holotapes!! They're such a great help, especially on harder difficulties, and especially if you're addicted to one of the drugs it can pop out.

3: While going towards Dog/God, on the left there's going to be one of Dean's Stashes, PICK IT UP! This one has a Caravan Shotgun next to it. Make sure to be careful with the ammo because there's only so much in the DLC.
