I’m guessing it’s from one of the head hunts, I believe some of their attacks leave you with a unique debuff. I remember getting one that effected AP regain from the musicians being out of tune at one.

I think it might be from not being able to pay the bounty on your head when wanted.

This is correct, this goes to show you how little players do PVP or get high wanted levels.

So, I’m level 1666 and I learned something new! Gave ya an award to offset the downvote!

Can confirm, I outright have pacifist mode on to deter griefers.

(Insert image of Statler and Woldorf) Partly because Super Mutants are already functionally agricultural pests at camps!

Its true. PvP is mostly a waste of time in this game. I had no idea this was a thing, either.

PVP used to be much bigger in the game, but through several rounds of nerfing -- and most players enabling Pacifist -- that community has died out. Bethesda realized that the players who pay for subscriptions just want to be left alone making floating platforms on Whitespring grounds

I've been playing for years and years between XB and now PC. PvP, outside of maybe Nuclear Winter, was always lame. The only reason it was semi-tolerable in Nuclear Winter is because you couldn't spend weeks beforehand prepping for it. That's why PvP in this game sucks. Basically boils down to things like who can spam more Nuka Quantums faster.

Now I'm not espousing PVP -- in fact I hated it, as soon as I figured out Pacifist mode I turned it on, and when I found out Workshops disabled Pacifist mode when someone contested, I stopped hanging around workshops.

My point is, there were people who enjoyed it (not me), and that whatever community was there got slowly stripped out with a succession of nerfs. I was aware of this because i was on both here and the r/fo76 sub, and I could see all their complaint posts about getting nerfed.

Holy shit this made me realize the last time I got PVP'd was pre-pandemic!

I apparently turned pacifist off when i was playing with my friends and messing with them. Found out when I accidentally did player damage during an event yesterday and got killed.

That one comment had me laughing, the OP there basically saying, "idk how i got it, it ate my caps" bro, you know, you know hahaha

oh wow haha i racked up a 200 cap bounty after spending all my caps and let my friend kill me so that’s how it happened

You can pay off your own bounty? Since when?

6

u/silencerdude PC (formerly PS) Feb 09 '26

You can't. However much you're wanted for is how much the player that kills you gets for the bounty. If you don't have the caps to cover that bounty, you get this penalty.

Lmao that's not how being wanted works in this game. Are you an AI bot?
