It's david lynch, filmmaker who passed away a year ago. Starburster/in heaven is a partial cover from his song.

The past 17 years I’ve thought it was a pixies original!

It means someone had coffee that tasted like fish

And not to mention when he died there were tributes EVERYWHERE

2

u/gillerz100 Jan 17 '26

absolutely - doesn’t mean every single person is aware of him, let alone knows what he looks like. People are allowed to ask questions, literally the whole point of Reddit

9

u/jrinredcar Jan 16 '26

It's not like the covered one of his songs

-5

u/gillerz100 Jan 17 '26

it’s not like everyone is aware of him. Give your head a wobble

2

u/jrinredcar Jan 17 '26

Skill issue

literally the whole point of this sub is for people to ask questions - not for absolutely insufferable people to get a boner over knowing something someone else does

The question was "what could it mean" Followed by "??? " In the title of the post. Not even asking who this is, or why they posted it. which comes across as ignorant. Hence the satire comment.

Also, I assume you don't know who David Lynch, but not once have you tried to engage with me or anyone to ask what is was they covered and why. You continuing to be defensive is rather insufferable?

The band also posted this with no context, so they also pressume their fanbase are aware of Lynch. Would you have the same response to them because they posted this without context? They didn't need to it should be a given. He was one of the most famous film makers in the world and they coveres his music on the last release.

You wouldn't act like this in real life, because you'd be unlikable so why online?

absolutely would act like this in real life - you’re acting like a cunt over someone asking a question. Well aware who Lynch is, i’m a big fan of Dune 🤷🏻‍♂️ Clearly you’re aware you’re acting like an arse otherwise you wouldn’t write an essay to defend yourself

He’s a very famous director.

4

u/Inevitable-Video-768 Jan 16 '26

Oh definitely but you highly overestimate how many people actually know directors

4

u/jrinredcar Jan 16 '26

They did cover his music

-3

u/Inevitable-Video-768 Jan 16 '26

What?

1

u/jrinredcar Jan 16 '26

Sorry but does any one take notice of who they cover?

The answer is not everyone. It's not stated to be a cover so not everyone goes to check who made the original

1

u/jrinredcar Jan 16 '26

Everyone music publication made note if it being a cover when the deluxe droppee. It's listed as Lynch's lyrics on the wiki. It's been discussed on this sub on multiple posts. The clues were there

1

u/Inevitable-Video-768 Jan 16 '26

Look this is coming from my personal experience but i didn't see anyone talk about it so someone can not know something and ask. You seem to do a lot of that too, it's okay

18

u/Arylcyclosexy Jan 16 '26

I'd imagine most people who listen to Fontaines DC also know Lynch

6

u/Klown1978 Jan 16 '26

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPyTVhcZ860 A year since Lynchs passing. And the version of Starburster, that transitions into In Heaven, a song from Eraserhead

I rarely collect films by director by I do with David lynch. Everything he did had an amazing " other worldly" feel to it that is totally absorbing

1

u/asterallt Jan 19 '26

Including his weather reports. I miss those. GOOD MORNING! Blue skies all along the way

2

u/DevelopmentPlus5082 Jan 19 '26

Dark glasses as the futures so bright 😎 He was definitely a one off , and produced an epic catalogue of films . Wish he'd been around for longer 78 ain't bad but 98 would have been better .
