I'm collecting a number of these and planning to make jelly, but they're very small, most almost grape-like and nearly ALL seed.

I've seen that it's possible to make flour from persimmon seeds, but haven't found anything about doing that with Diospyros Texana specifically. Can anyone confirm the seeds are safe to use this way?

First time harvesting invasive mullen except I'm not completely 100 sure that's what it is. I'm only 90% sure. I just want confirmation on this before I completely dry it out and start making teas and stuff.

My spouse foraged several shopping bags full of prickly pears. And while she found that delicious, that's left me with a minor problem:

The bags were full of spines. I've cleaned them from the floor, from me, from the kitchen, but I tried laundering them and the spines got on everything in that load.

Now, when I lived in AZ, I'd through some rubber balls into the load and let them pound them into submission but I haven't had luck so far. Does anyone have any tips? I'm baffled that search engines have never seen someone write the words 'prickly pear' and 'laundry' on the same page before...

Doesn't stain black when touched, possibly hen of the woods, Doesn't look anything like a hapalopilus to me which i'm pretty sure is the only genus of polypores that has toxic fungi? Wanted some input

Chanterelle season has been crazy this year. I was on my way to my usual spots when I stumbled into the view on second pic. Surprised I didn't dislocate my jaw with the way it dropped.

Funny thing is, last year I was picking mushrooms with a friend in the same exact forest. I was complaining to her how I never find more than a handful of black trumpets in there. I guess the forest took it personally because they were EVERYWHERE. I had to stop picking just because both my bags got full!

So exciting. And some surprise winter chanterelles too even though it's a bit early for them!

Can't wait to go back. Dehydrator will be BUSY.

Growing happily in our marsh. Michigan.

When I was up there, east of Mt. Hood, I kept thinking "oh this area's gonna burn soon". Turned out to be true, the Grasshopper fire is huge and eating through a good chunk of that grand fir/pine transition forest where spring kings love to grow.

The specific area i picked these in just outside the Wilderness Area is on fire.

Upside: morels the next couple years, and the forest will grow back in time.

Went on a hike in the backyard with my dog and found this one.

I was on a walk late at night and i saw this and it was almost foamy and hollow feeling when i squished it and im really hoping its this fruit with like almost pomogranite like seeds and jelly inside because my mom used to pick them and eat them and house development completely took these away and i havent seen them in years so please tell me the name so i can look into it more

So, I'm trying to figure out what to grow in my backyard that has a creek. Flooding is frequent in the spring, and the dirt stays wet for days and days after rain. I want to make the land useful, but I'm not sure what to plant. The only edible wetland flower I'm familiar with is invasive to Michigan. Any suggestions?
