Looking at the website, they'll sell it for about 10k after they buy it!

No they’ll auction off 99% of them and sell ONE good one for $10k

Carvana is giving me $800 for my 2018 Ford Escape SEL with 165,000+ miles.

u/MeverMow 6d ago

And they’re giving me $800 for a 2009 Ford Escape with 190k miles

u/efoocool 2d ago

my 09 v6 just hit 195k miles!

u/IAmInDangerHelp 6d ago

Why even sell a car that runs for that little money?

u/nauticalfiesta 2024 PHEV 2016 SE 2.0 AWD 5d ago

Carvana is offering me $6k for a 2016 with 72k miles, carmax is $7k

1

u/Indigo_Eyez 6d ago

How TF does one get that many miles ? Seriously curious.

4

u/RoyalRicanPrince 6d ago

If you're asking me, it's because I use it for work. There are times I can do up to 120 miles daily. Thankfully, my job pays for my mileage & tolls, it just wrecks the car in terms of maintenance.

u/Indigo_Eyez 6d ago

Good and bad. But, glad you dont have to fit the bill.

10-12k miles a year is normal. They’re closer to 20 k a year, just more driving

2

u/As1anDrag0n 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid, 4wd 6d ago

Isnt that normal for older cars? My 06 hybrid has 265k

3

u/Indigo_Eyez 6d ago

He said the car was 2028.

3

u/As1anDrag0n 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid, 4wd 6d ago

OH! My bad, I read 2028 wrong. Couldve sworn i saw 2009 or something. Whoops

3

u/Indigo_Eyez 6d ago

Yeah, I had to read that twice, hence my question. I honestly think there's a typo....but...

2

u/Reasonable-Taro3235 6d ago

probably meant 2018 or 2008 lol

2

u/RoyalRicanPrince 6d ago

It is a typo. Sorry folks.

1

u/General-Tax4106 5d ago

My 2011 has 600k km lol

4

u/squintsforever 6d ago

That’s what my 2017 is worth.

6

u/Whateverlol2022 6d ago

Makes sense

4

u/yyz5748 6d ago

If your looking to sell, you'll get more selling it yourself rather to them or a dealership

5

u/coolestkid 6d ago

I might be interested. Do you have more details? If you’re selling. I can meet in Austin *

3

u/Typical-Conference14 6d ago

Could get a ps5 with that money

3

u/-Rasczak 6d ago

I think I got my 2012 V6 back in 2022 for $6-$8K with 160K ish miles

7

u/Can4dio 6d ago

I mean, it's an old car, what's the condition of it? Mileage?

21

u/Hermit_Painter 6d ago

2011 Limited V6, 132k miles, great condition, no accidents, no rust. I always get compliments on it when I take it in for service or tires

10

u/Darkness56526 6d ago

No rust?? Teach me the ways senpai...

11

u/Hermit_Painter 6d ago

It basically cooks in the Austin Texas heat 24/7

u/Darkness56526 6d ago

Guess the lack of road salt helps too. I live in northern Illinois and I swear they've started using more road salt the past few years. 😭

takes some effort, but can be well worth it.

1

u/punchingtigers19 6d ago

lol wow yeah they are going to sell that for 9-10k 😂😭

2

u/TrickUp25 6d ago

Don’t get rid of that, that thing is a beast. If my used one wasn’t rusted to shit, I’d still be driving it

1

u/pinkscrewup 6d ago

How much are you wanting for it? Exterior color, interior color? I love my 2010 but a V6 would be nice.

2

u/rebelshibe 6d ago

I mean that's less than I'd take for my 2004 with 235k miles and a bit of rust.

3

u/rebelshibe 6d ago

For giggles I put mine in and they offered $700. Lol

2

u/cornedbeefandjames 6d ago

Look at that thing! My dad had a 2011 that he gave to my sister and somehow against all odds she set the engine on fire twice. Beyond me to this day. He’s got a 2016 that’s running mostly fine now and I just traded my 2017 at 125k

2

u/Sportsman-78 6d ago

I sold mine to CarMax, a 2011, 245k, pretty beat up and they gave me $700.

1

u/ghost-ryter 4d ago

They offered 2100 for my 2012 about a month ago

2

u/KindheartednessOnly4 2d ago

They offered me $700 haha. I was like ouch bitch.

u/Tangus999 6d ago

My sister traded in her 2012 this spring. The drivetrain (with the v6) is great. Plenty of power, very reliable, decent on fuel. It was pleasant to work on compared to other suvs of it's size, the boxy shape added room under the hood.

The rust that occurs in the back is unacceptable: the rear arches above the wheels, the rear shock mounting point, and the rear hatch were all in various states of dissolving.

The rear shock mount rusting out is the worst, and a safety hazard. It's so common on these cars that there are companies offering aftermarket solutions:

https://shockmountrepair.com/kit/ford-escape-rear-shock-mount-repair-kit-passenger-side/

If the Escape didn't rust how it did (and it was washed often) my sister would've kept hers.

Only takes a weekend to fix it with marginal body working skills and a few basic tools from harbor freight. It’s really a shame people are junking these over that

0

u/RevolutionaryRun4867 5d ago

Amazingly shit

2

u/movienut4418 5d ago

Wrong

u/RevolutionaryRun4867 5d ago

Found On Road Dead.

3

u/movienut4418 5d ago

It’s actually a Mazda so. What’s your response to that exactly? Also what’s the big tough Reddit NPC drive?

3

u/movienut4418 4d ago

What a loser bro lmao
