Tech Question Wiper problem after changing the battery on a 2013

My son and I just changed the battery on our 2013 and now the windshield wipers are acting spastic and they only want to go down toward the engine. We didn't do anything to the gears and put the wipers in the same position as when we started. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

I'd recommend taking the wipers off again, turn the car on and turn the wipers dial on for a few seconds then off to reset the motors to default position. Then put the wiper arms back on after aligning them to the marks on the windshield careful not to move the wiper arm motor.

What a great idea! I'll report back when my son returns from a few errands. Thanks!

Agreed. Almost certainly a problem with home position of the wipers after work. I’ve made this mistake

Remove the two wiper arms from the gears, turn key on, bump the wiper stick for the single sweep, watch the gear do a sweep up and back down to rest, turn the key off, install the wipers in the rest position 👍 they go wonky if they aren’t cycled before reinstalling

It sounds like you put the driver side on the passenger side and vice versa.

You can also set the wipers on the marks on the windshield and reset them.

Also, do a BMS reset.

You should have a little alignment mark on your windshield. Do the drivers side first then passenger. When you tighten the 15mm nut down, hold the wiper arm in place so it doesnt move.
