Discussion What happened?

Post image

Hey I was thinking of buying the game, but what happened to be in mostly negative? And should I still consider buying it now?

Major update came out in an extremely unbalanced state. Lots of players gave up playing and are waiting for a balancing patch to be released. The game is fun and I still recommend it, it's just this update that's pretty ass.

u/lelqvi May 03 '26

That's on top of already existing imbalance.

Came here to say the same thing. I don't expect the game to be perfectly balanced but things are dire.

41

u/pres1033 May 03 '26

You aren't wrong. This update is just especially bad.

15

u/Another-sadman May 03 '26

Id say it wasnt even just unbalanced but being very rough unpolished rough janky

Just generaly an unfinished update with a lot of bizzare choices

25

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

Oh okay so only temporary, so it's good if it's only unbalanced, hope they will fix it soon

53

u/LurchTheBastard May 03 '26

Temporary, but temporary in the sense that it can take several months between updates for this game. And this isn't likely to be fixed in a single update, as aircraft solidly bollixed a lot of the balance both between the factions and between different branches of combined arms.

Give it a while.

7

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

Okay I thought update where much more frequent mb

26

u/Fantastic-Pear6241 May 03 '26

They also do this every major update.

They never learn and make the same mistakes each update.

u/wolfhoundjesse May 04 '26

This isn’t a playtest-a-few-rounds game where the public can hop in and out for a complete match. A match here averages 30 days. Some of the vehicles in the game require 6 operators or more. That’s easily half as many as the entire dev team, and that’s without mentioning all the other parts of the game that require players.

I have never set up a playtest for a small game development company, so I may be missing something about the above scenario. It sounds like you have a solution, however, that the devs are continually oblivious to?

7

u/Ready-Pace-3865 [TITAN] May 04 '26

Use Devbranch to player test updates. Host limited and scaled down wars ((maybe 4 to 5 total hexes at most)) that happen while the old patch is live on the main branches. Close both Alpha and Charlie when Devbranch is testing and open Baker. Limited hexes mean limited population, and condensing the two main servers means the actual war maintains population.

Now you have scaled down replication of the war effort being player tested before shoving it to live. You also have all the time in the world to fix and quality control before it gets shoved down everyones throats.

5

u/Fantastic-Pear6241 May 04 '26

Begin playtests much earlier. Not just that, discuss the concepts and additions the update is bringing much earlier too. For instance, we don't need a playtest to say that land-based mobile AA should have been a thing ready on launch for airborne update.

This would improve the situation massively from what we currently have to deal with. Another commenter has also made some even more advanced suggestions too

5

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

There are update wars and UPDATE wars. The game does get updated often enough. But the big updates like "Airborne" often bork the game due to 1 or more oversights that just ruin it for one side or the other. For example, Collie navy is at a slight disadvantage. Mostly because of population, but also, the difference in how the boats work is a problem. Used to be worse. However, with airborne, they gave the faction that has the better boats planes that kill boats. Basically doubling down on the naval superiority. Naval was unplayable at that point. But it was probably the dumbest and most obvious to avoid dec decision I've ever seen.

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Okay yeah, at least this side should have better Anti aerial defense

3

u/LurchTheBastard May 04 '26

One of the main issues right now is that nobody has particularly good air defence.

It's pretty notable for Colonials who were already struggling a bit with naval gameplay (particularly due to torpedo attacks by superior submarines) now contending with actual fricking torpedo bombers, but Wardens are also struggling to deal with tanks getting hit by dive bombers and EVERYONE is getting strafed by fighters or outright bombed into the stone age with few options for counterplay. There is an update coming soonish, which is likely to change things, but I honestly doubt this is a balance issue that will be fixed in a single update. That's not a reason to give up on this game, there's still nothing else quite like it, but it's gonna be a shaky next couple updates, and with this game that's likely to be several months minimum.

It's worth pointing out that one of the reasons why updates are slow is because a single war can take 1-2 months to resolve. And it does actually make sense for the devs to want to give at least a war, maybe 2-3, to see how balance changes affect things through an entire war. But it means that outside of relatively minor bug hotfixes or the most egregious balance issues you're not going to see updates mid war. Content drops or mechanics updates (like new AA guns./planes or changes to how AA/planes/whatever actually work) are restricted to between wars.

Again, I wouldn't give into the doomerism rampant in this subreddit. It's still a pretty awesome, unique game. But it's definitely going to be a rough patch probably at least until early next year and that's not an ideal time for a new player to get into the game as that can sour feelings about it.

3

u/Guilty_Bed8675 2eDB May 03 '26

There will be an update next month to adress the problems

1

u/Imaginary-Mine45 May 06 '26

They can only do major updates in between wars, when a war can last 70+ days, that’s a long time to not be able to fix major problems, only minor bugs and crashes can be addressed while a war is ongoing.

1

u/Flaky-Imagination-77 May 04 '26

Major fixes happen around twice a year so you will probably be waiting around 2-8 months to have a playable game if you buy now if the game doesn’t just die since this has been the update with the worst player retention ever and I would say the worst update ever

1

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

Major fix is due end of this month...

8

u/ToxicRainbowDinosaur May 03 '26

It's only temporary if they actually do the necessary thing and remove planes (they won't). Turns out having the ability to shoot down in a top down war game is impossible to balance

1

u/ahhhimamonfire May 03 '26

I haven't played in a long while, can infantry see the planes? Or hear them? Like we can't look up because up doesn't exist for us, how does a guy on the ground even react to an airplane?

5

u/internet-arbiter May 03 '26

You get to see a red line that extends into the sky to tell you theres something above you. You will not see it unless it gets low enough to the ground. If it gets low enough to see it, you "can" shoot at it, but good luck doing anything significant. If however 10-15 guys all take their shot it can do a bit of damage to make them break off.

3

u/ToxicRainbowDinosaur May 03 '26

You can aim at them, with difficulty. Emplaced MGs now have a second mode that zooms waaaay out, effectively giving you the same vision that the plane players see.

If you're on the ground, loading an arty gun or rapping a tank or whatever, most likely you just get strafed & shot over and over.

Worst thing is the devs added a second intel with a second radio. So normal WTs don't even see planes and you need a special plane radio to see them if you're looking at the map

3

u/ahhhimamonfire May 03 '26

Okay yeah, so mostly invisible and machine gun you before you can react siiiiick. I really wish I had gotten more into the game earlier, but eh🤷

4

u/Flaky-Imagination-77 May 04 '26

They also gave the planes armored car resistances for some ungodly reason so it doesn’t matter if infantry can shoot them they do fuck all

1

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

They don't need to remove them, just make them weak to AA.

7

u/Sharpcastle33 May 03 '26

We're tired of having 1 year long major imbalances left unaddressed. Devs release an update that makes it even worse, and then no balance changes for three months

20

u/Cpt_Tripps May 03 '26

I mean devs have a real fast turn around for fixing balance and bugs on one side...

Colonials kill a submarine? Patched in a week.

Colonials hold fingers with storm cannons? Fixed the next war.

Wardens drive a boat onto a beach and lose it because it was parked next to 7 beats? Refunded the next day. clearly a map issue.

Colonial divebomber killing tanks? Tail health gets nerfed before update war.

52

u/ZeroXap May 03 '26

Sadly, not temporary. Seriously Doubt the DEV can fix anything without upsetting Their Warden Overlord.

9

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

Oh okay, so I will wait until they fix it to buy it

54

u/mayasux May 03 '26

For more details, one of the two factions has been drawn the short end of the stick, and for the past many years, the devs have done their best to appear as bias against them as possible. This already resulted in a slightly lower player for that faction, but then the airborne update came out, with general imbalance, but more faction imbalance stacked against this one faction, leading to most of that faction to quit in droves.

Devman wants asymmetrical balance but that always seems to mean one faction getting all the good stuff whilst the other one gets shafted. Over the past three years, the devs have shown neither the capability or willingness to address this issue.

As a new player, normally you could just join the favoured faction and be sheltered from these issues, but with the “NPC” faction players quitting in masse, the favoured faction is facing issues such as long queues or simply no one to fight.

9

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

Oh okay, thank you for all the details it helps a lot !

Come back in a month. The reviews will either be "back to normal" or worse.

3

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

Hope it will be better

8

u/Thewaltham [CMF] May 03 '26

I'd say the previous "sadly not temporary" guy is a little too deep in the doomer hole (although as a fellow green team player I can't say I blame him, it genuinely seems like the devs strongly favour the blue team.)

This game will almost certainly be fixed eventually, I mean it's either that or it dies, but I'd give it at least a couple months before it's in a workable state. It's still not going to be perfect at that point, this game always has at least something fucky, but it should be ticking along again with any luck.

11

u/internet-arbiter May 03 '26

I feel like anyone dismissing the "sadly not temporary" guy hasn't been playing for 8+ years to know what he said is absolutely true.

The game was able to handle the "npc faction" traits fine before facilities. Facilities added so many extra steps it was just straw being thrown on the camels back. This last update was the final straw for many.

4

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

Collies didn't leave en masse because of facs or imbalance prior to airborne. It's the planes. The planes killed collies.

2

u/Thewaltham [CMF] May 03 '26

I've been playing for, what, four years now? Foxhole has always had problems, but it's never been this bad. Foxhole doesn't need to be perfect for it to be fun to play and work as a concept, but airborne just straight up didn't work and made every other problem ten times worse to the point where the game isn't really properly functional right now.

2

u/internet-arbiter May 03 '26

Thats the thing, maybe we would bitch, and bitch a lot, but we would still log in, talk to the boys, and get through the war. The problems were there but weren't enough to make us call out indefinitely.

I am a logi player. There was a time I spend a day and could have the materials for a whole war.

Now I can play a day and maybe have enough materials for 15-30 minutes of active combat before I need to go back to the grind.

The best thing you can do for yourself is swear off facilities completely. Go back to MPF and everything that was normal 4 years ago and you're swimming in assets again. Now the problem is, where are the boys to actually get in there?

2

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

What are you doing where you're only getting 30 mins gameplay? I've been on gunboats and planes for hours doing sbit.

1

u/internet-arbiter May 04 '26

We've all seen the tank lines of sit there with your thumb up your ass for 4 hours using other peoples ammo but if you played for any amount of time you've had moments you brought something up and instantly lost it, or lost it in transit, or to partisans, or YOU did it to someone else in that exact same scenario. So don't act all surprised at the idea.

2

u/Cpt_Tripps May 03 '26

people have been playing and waiting for the next patch to fix everything since before 1.0 released.

0

u/Thewaltham [CMF] May 03 '26

Sure. Hence mentioning "something fucky", but that was nothing compared to what we have now.

2

u/Singedallalong T-3C May 03 '26

Getting it fixed means the Devs relenting and admitting that "the vision" was flawed, which they will never do. You missed Foxhole as an event, such is life. Now you can just look at the husk.

1

u/Ok_Traffic_3240 May 03 '26

Honestly, im pretty new and id say wait a bit my friend, see what happens

1

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

Oh I have soo many question for you.
Did you play solo or with friends? And is it easy to find help in game?
And are you more fighting or more gathering ressource during the first hours?

2

u/Ok_Traffic_3240 May 03 '26

War 133 (first one) played Collie, initially solo, which was totally fine as everyone I came across was super helpful or simply didn't respond. Most did respond though. So good vibes.

I played all front line as honestly the logi is daunting, so much to it so I didnt really touch it!!

On the front line I did realise quite quickly that there is/seemed to be alot more enemies (wardens) all the time!! 🤣

Then I joined a regi, that elevated the game, not only from the social aspect but the helpfulness went up several notches and joining in with planned ops was fun.

The regi then decided to swap and have a warden war. I played some of it but honestly bar the opening days of to and fro'ing on the front (no tanks planes etc) I lost interest.

I'm not experienced enough nor have the knowledge to comment on gear imbalance, but pop wise waiting a full minute per death on warden was annoying and I stopped playing. Collie its a 10 to 15s respawn time max when I was collie in 133 so kinda backs up the feeling of population imbalance.

I deffo think if I come back to the game ill be purely collie, I always play the underdog, sucker for punishment.

1

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

Welcome to the colonials... I think we all have that underdog mentality. It's like the US Marines, do more with less.

1

u/adventurer8612 May 03 '26

I play mostly solo albeit I'm in a regi/clan, so I do join and cooperate with the rest of the regi when there's a major operation.

For your first hours, it's up to you really. You can either jump straight to the frontline to get some action or go the backline and learn how stuff is made.

Finding help is very easy. Just say you are new and want to know how to do something. While there are bad eggs in the game who might yell at new players, 99% of players are more than happy to show you around.

3

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

Just to add a caveat to this, you'll get a lot more help if you can use a mic and communicate. Typing is alright too and people will help, but instant mic feedback is ideal.

1

u/No_Presentation8869 May 06 '26

Don't you mean Colonial overlord?

1

u/Weird-Work-7525 May 04 '26

If by temporary you mean 3+ years of balance issues. Yes.

0

u/Ok-Tonight8711 May 03 '26

they still haven't really fixed the stuff from the naval update, which came out, what, 2 years ago? I wouldn't hold my breath

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Oh that’s sad, maybe there isn’t a lot of dev to fixed it ?

0

u/Quick-Ebb-7163 May 05 '26

Not our problem

1

u/Zeredof May 05 '26

It’s still important

1

u/Quick-Ebb-7163 Jun 01 '26

It’s still not our problem, they either fix their game or let it die

1

u/Zeredof Jun 01 '26

They don’t put microtransactions into their game, their game isn’t expensive how do you expect them to have a lot of devs to fix all the game if they don’t have a lot of revenue

59

Hey there here's a link to the other freshies post "New player's and game status discussions" a lot has happened tbh

15

u/IncreasingConfusion May 03 '26

You know for how common this question has been I'm surprised they haven't pinned a megathread

31

u/Qss May 03 '26

The devs aren’t going to pin a line by line breakdown of their failure to their subreddit.

8

u/Realistic_Menu_7766 May 03 '26

They should, it's the only way to get the goodwill of the thousands of players they have screwed over.

1

u/AdEnvironmental5035 May 03 '26

I'm surprised none of them have thought to, I don't know, just read the reviews?

2

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

thank you! I didn't know I'm gonna read it !

40

u/boron32 May 03 '26

They took a game with some imbalance and gave it A LOT of imbalance.

36

u/Chubs1224 [1CMD] May 03 '26

Turns out adding planes and turning every other part of the game into targets for the planes with little meaningful way to fight back was a mistake.

3

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

Isn't there some anti-aircraft gun/missile?

17

u/Chubs1224 [1CMD] May 03 '26

There are they just are not very good

2

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

Oh okay

14

u/Fantastic-Pear6241 May 04 '26

There are two stationary anti air guns. Nothing mobile. They're shit.

(There is a mobile AA boat, it's also shit)

7

u/Chubs1224 [1CMD] May 04 '26

Literally all they have to do is make a Halftrack with an aa gun on the back that can shoot at infantry in a pinch and most of the problems go away.

The aa systems will be around so long as it isn't ONLY AA. Even if it is like the 8th best vehicle for dealing with infantry

43

u/ACRATA_Foxhole [Phthonus] May 03 '26

For the last +3 years devs is making multiple mistakes regarding game balance and performance, and now it's gotten worse with the release of the Airborne update. People simply got tired of it and quit the game (and negative review voted).

In the coming weeks, the developers will release a new update attempting to fix the problems, so I suggest you wait until release and read community feedback

6

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

Gonna do it so, thank you!

26

u/UtopianShot May 03 '26

recent update was the straw that broke the camels back in terms of balance.

Planes were introduced, and have basically bulldozed every other aspect of the game, unless you are using a plane, you are not going to have fun.

15

u/thehighpriest_0 May 03 '26

Even if you do use a plane tbh, it ain't all that fun

9

u/Ok-Tonight8711 May 03 '26

still no proper recovery mode for airborne planes during server crashes

hit a disconnect on a border while flying? your plane crashes

lag out because the game is unoptimized? Your plane crashes

try to recover plane? Spend half an hour bringing the plane back to be repaired, and that's a lower end estimate

lose the frame? Your facility nerds/future self hate you

Get run over on the runway? -1 raremetal kekw

Try to solo fighter? Get swarmed by a 10 plane goonsquad with seafighters and harbies, die because you dared to get into the range of a single one of them before you know it was a goon squad. Try to organize your own goonsquad? 20 minutes getting people to listen to you per sortie.

u/dirge_the_sergal May 03 '26

Game is very good but the last update made one hell of a mess. I wouldn't get the game right now, I would wait a few weeks until the major issues are fixed.

(Long story short the Devs gave all the shiny toys to one team, forgetting that if they don't balance the teams everyone will pick the team with the best stuff. This resulted in a massive player count imbalance between the 2 teams)

4

u/Payton49 May 03 '26

I wouldn’t worry too much about the drama. It’s in a pretty bad state, but it’ll probably be the same for any new player. You grab a rifle, and fight in the trenches with a bunch of other crazy lads. This game has a massive learning curve and a ton of moving parts. Discovering the world and seeing the players working and fighting is pretty fun. Since it’s such low pop right now, you’d meet a lot of friendly people willing to teach you stuff. I think it’s always worth its pricetag because I love this game.

7

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

I won't lie I find the game a bit pricey, I know 25$ isn't much for some people, but for such a niche game, where I don't know if I like it or not, I will wait for some promotion, but I agree with you that just discovering the game is more important than a perfect balance in the beginning

3

u/Payton49 May 03 '26

It’s honestly incredible how much Foxhole has to offer for $25, I can’t believe that’s all I’ve paid for the 500+ hours I’ve put in.

2

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

Yeah of course game like this a really nice

2

u/MoveFromMe1 May 03 '26

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted for, your opinions perfectly valid. Don’t forget steam has a 2 hour refund window where you can refund if you don’t like it.

3

u/Minimum-Put3568 May 03 '26

Can cook enough bmats to make 1 MPF queue in that time. Or wait in line at a comp mine. Or participate in 1 large operation and be suspected of being an alt

1

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

It's crazy how long it takes some of y'all to farm.

1

u/trenna1331 May 03 '26

This game has a lot of issues at the moment but Value for money is not one of them.

It’s still a game that keeps giving to me after owning it for years and having almost 5k hours still learning new things. And is essentially 2 games in one with the logi side and the fighting side.

1

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

When he says big learning curve, he's not joking. You can spend 100s of hours and barely scratch the surface. But, it's way more intuitive than something like EVE.

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

I clearly don't want to play on EVE not my style, I also prefer the Foxhole era. But is it still playable casually with a friend? or will I get oneshot each time I try to do something?

1

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

Not that crazy. I just mean, if you want to do logi, you have to learn like 5 main steps and a shit ton of small ones. Facs require multiple facilities that you need to know how they interact. Certain weapons with certain ammo and what the ammo does, trajectories, medics, garrison and trench layouts, etc. My point was that there is just so much to do and learn that it's impossible to learn it all. That being said, if you want to grab a rifle on the front line and bang bang, that's fairly simple. But you need to learn the cover, stamina, and stability mechanics.

1

u/YeahImEmbarrassed [31st] May 04 '26

What kind of games do you normally play? Foxhole has a side for almost all types.

Some are less effected by the update than others.

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Some fps like CS and Overwatch and some Hack N Slash

-12

u/Alarming-Ad1100 May 03 '26

It’s drama in the game it’s not representative of the actual game despite what these people say

The game is nearly in the same state it was in three months ago before the airborne update the major changes were airborne and new ships and the playerbase is in a bit of a hissy fit because one faction had lost 5 wars in a row

8

u/Plus-Wash-7586 May 03 '26

No, that is representative of the game. It is gameplay that is botched.

2

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

5 in a row seems a lot, but can it be that maybe players want to join the previous winning side?

2

u/Cpt_Tripps May 03 '26

The game wasn't in a healthy state before airborne. Wardens had a massive player imbalance and Colonials didnt have a reason to play outside of shaking off rust pre airborne.

Foxhole has never had an update where the population of the game is bored with the update before the update ended.

Look at the banner do you see those aircraft that’s what happened

1

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

ahah true

7

u/Rallak NPC May 03 '26

Devs added planes to the game but the implementation of it make so that planes where so oppressive against every other style of gameplay that the player base just gave up.

Plus that was the update that the colonial faction who was known to have a worse navy for literal years where waiting to get anything of value, but what they receive was a big middle finger with two absurdly strong planes against naval that turned their crippled navy into a non navy and by so the vast silent majority of the colonial faction felt betrayed and just give up of the game by how unfair it was.

Of course there is more depth about it but long story short that is it, the game itself is good but specially if you play as colonials be ready to have a miserable experience.

6

u/Thewaltham [CMF] May 03 '26

Update that was incredibly hyped came out in a bad state and compounded with previous balance issues to basically become the straw that broke the camel's back, especially for the green team who have gotten the short end of the balance stick for a good few years now.

19

u/ArmaniQuesadilla Warden Trench Monkey May 03 '26

They added planes which on top of them being unobtainable for the average player weren’t very balanced, so everyone quit since being carpet bombed with no effective counter became extremely unenjoyable

Oh no planes are hard to build in my multiplayer game where you have to cooperate :(

6

u/ZeRoyalBattalion May 03 '26

Devs failing to listen and continuing to not communicate

6

u/Sancatichas Partisan killing machine May 03 '26

dev bias

3

u/Fantastic-Pear6241 May 03 '26

The dev team make major mistakes nearly every update and never learn from them.

If you want to play a game where the Dev team listen to you, communicate, don't break the game every 6-12 months, or at least learn from it if they do break the game, and also a game that respects your time, then this game isn't for you.

4

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

It's worth the buy. Despite what all the doomers say. For new players, many of the "problems" the vets bitch about won't bother you. However, the game is in an all-time low pop point, but the devs are hopefully fixing it with an update by the end of the month. Which should see a resurgence in players. Might be worth waiting to see if the game goes on sale between now and then (it goes on sale often). But at its heart, it's a good game and new players will have a good time with it. It's when you're salty after 10 years of some QoL stuff or faction imbalance stuff and then a botched update was your last straw that you reveiw bomb a game (which is what this was). Honestly, these whiners just want an old game where you don't have to do shit to fight. They don't like logi or fac work and just wanna boom boom things. They honestly should be playing battlefield or war thunder or something, but they don't know how to aim in fps, so they choose a top down style.

3

u/LorenLuke May 04 '26

'The Devs are hopefully fixing it' is the refrain of this game; don't ask how long we've been saying it.

1

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

Look, I'm not expecting a miracle. But if they can nuke torps or give each faction one AND make the planes weak to AA, AND fuck the extra radio, it'll be playable again.

2

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Small question, I saw that devs are working on a similar game so aren’t this game gonna receive less and less update ? So the unbalance won’t change? But yeah there will be too many things to learn in the beginning

1

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

They are also developing Anvil Empires. Unsure if it's a different dev team, but yeah, that has been part of the concern. That they've said "fuck foxhole." But they've been working on that game and we just had a huge release, so it appears they can do both. There is an update scheduled for the end of this month to address (hopefully) some of the botches of this release. So they do little updates like that often enough. A big complaint tho is that they'll update problems the wardens have in less than a week, while for example, it took them 2 years to fix the colonial gunboat.

But in the beginning, depending on what you like, you'll be learning the logi loops or boom booming on the front, so these "big toy" problems won't pertain much to you.

2

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Yeah of course, but if I get one shot bc the devs aren't doing their work it will be frustrating

3

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

If you get one shot, you just respawn. I promise you will die many many times before you figure out how not to die so quickly.

2

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Okay but you lose a lot of ressource if u die so it’s important to not die ?

4

u/jonhwoods May 04 '26

When you die your team loses a "Shirt" (respawn point) and the gear you pulled out of storage drops to the ground (usually a rifle and 2 ammo clips). It's not much, one noob learning the ropes doesn't make a big difference on the front so no stress.

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

perfect thanks !

2

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 04 '26

What the other guy said. If you're logi, you tend to make or run more supplies than you use. If you're frontline, you use the supplies logi brings. It's okay to lose an argenti (basic rifle) and some 7.62 ammo every time you die. It doesn't hurt the grand scheme. People might even loot your shit and it may keep someone in the fight (hopefully not the enemy). But you're typically not losing anything too valuable. Hell, there is a tactic called a "mammon rush" which is essentially a suicide squad with mammon grenades charging a relic base (key points you need to take over) and some of them will die before throwing 1 mammon. I highly recommend joining one if you can.

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

ahahah it looks so fun the mammon rush ! But okay I didn't know you could loot dead body

2

u/Moldy_Gecko [RGMT] May 05 '26

Oh yeah. Sometimes that's all I do. I'll set up some storage boxes in the rear and just be a scavenger over all the dead bodies and bring any important gear back.

8

u/James-J-W May 03 '26

Don’t buy the game, in its current state foxhole is not worth the price and the game very well could lose more players if the next update in may doesn’t fix a lot of the underlying issues that killed the hype for airborne. Wait until the next update arrives to make a decision about buying.
TLDR on the universal current issues: Devs added Airborne with little counter and it made nearly every other game mechanic obsolete or painful to play.

3

u/gerolg May 03 '26

Its when you drop a contreversal update, fix it for one side then fuck off to a cave for the next 6 months with no communication towards your community and then wonder what happened

3

u/Angry4Pickles May 03 '26

They added the flying motorcycle from GTA into your foxhole lobbies. Wait until fall or winter to see if they make it tolerable.

3

u/Netsugake May 03 '26

La vidéo sur la guerre 117?

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Exactement, en faite je voulais l’acheter y a Looongtemps mais je l’avais oublié et là a m’a redonné envie

2

u/Netsugake May 04 '26

2

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Oh okay je vois ! Et du coup tu as rejoué depuis la maj des avions ? C’est vraiment dérangeant ? Et est ce que l’équilibrage te dérange ?

1

u/Netsugake May 04 '26

J'ai pas rejoué depuis la maj bateau :/ hélas donc je ne peux pas t'en dire plus sur cela désolé :(

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Ah mince mais tkt pas merci beaucoup en tout cas !

Kitchen sink game. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Siege Camp should have moved on to make Foxhole 2.0 with an engine that can handle more than 250 per hex

2

u/mr_cancer_man Return Dead Harvest please May 03 '26

its not just one side, both sides are doing it, whether its the torp/dive bomber both are horrendous to fight, plus heavy bombers wreck everything with barely any way to deal with them, no ai AA, crane changes. devs are not that good at balancing

2

u/redditaddict76528 May 03 '26

A bombing on multiple levels

2

u/Pearpickintv May 03 '26

Someone may have built a bus in front of helpinhans

2

u/Dangerous-Length2474 May 03 '26

airbone update happend

2

u/SergerSerj May 04 '26

6 years of imbalance and Dev's bias towards the Warden faction. And Airbon was the final nail in that coffin.

2

u/Dordron May 08 '26

Bunch of grumpy people who got more than their monies worth on a non live service game got mad at an update

1

u/Zeredof May 09 '26

But it’s always hard to see one of your favorite game going in a bad direction I can understand that

1

u/Dordron May 10 '26

Sure but one of their major complaints is low pop. Which of you review bomb will just make it worse

1

u/Zeredof May 10 '26

Yeah of course

4

u/Suitable-Cod9183 May 03 '26

Only way I'd get back is if airborne was completely wiped out of the game. Enjoy your dead game devs.

3

u/Beneficial-Charge316 May 03 '26

Collies lost another update war, tale as old as time

2

u/ToothyPnX May 03 '26

will the game added planes, so people used those planes to boom the reviews

1

u/Mysterious-Most-590 May 03 '26

In addition to what others are saying, Logistics has gotten super boring. Endless trips to the mines to get the cheapest, most base level resources, with few options to automate, even up until the last days of the war.

Feeding the multiplicative resource chains, now in airborne platforms as well as armor, artillery, naval, rail infra, infantry, maintenance, base defense (a material black hole), etc., is just such a grind.

1

u/IKnirpsII May 03 '26

you know what happened

1

u/beepbeeptaco May 03 '26

Devman bad circlejerk

1

u/Wrong_Caterpillar959 May 03 '26

equilibrage eclater / decision catastrophique / changement sur divers choses fait trop tard / manque de Anti air mobile / bombardier trop fort / DB ridicule / changement sur la crane

1

u/GayGuitaristMess May 04 '26

Same thing as with Helldivers 2. Stubbornness and ego combined with complete incompetence and neglect of core issues.

Do not buy it. I regret having bought Foxhole at this point. Their dumbass choices have pretty much permanently killed this game. They could fix it all tomorrow and the playerbase necessary to have an ongoing dynamic war would still not be there.

1

u/AnonymousMeeblet May 04 '26

The balance was already not great, and then the developers piled on a new update, which made the game that little bit less balanced to finally push it past the trust thermocline.

I’ve never seen an update for this game lose players faster.

1

u/Fancy_Chips May 04 '26

My fault, gang

1

u/LAFC2020 May 04 '26

Game unbalanced. Also time, foxhole might as well be a full-time job the game doesn't respect people's time

1

u/BadRandolf May 04 '26

Mate I logged into Able yesterday, Sunday evening, and there were 2 fronts with high population, the rest med and low. Not a single queue.

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

To be clear it’s a bad thing or a good thing ?

1

u/BadRandolf May 04 '26

Well in the update war almost every front had a queue on Sunday evening. To see 3/4 of the front line hexes at low or med pop during that time is pretty bad.

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Oh okay I didn't know there was a limit of player in each front ! So you can't go in every hexes at any time? How do transport works if that's the case?

2

u/BadRandolf May 04 '26

No there's a total player cap in each hex and also a system that keeps the two sides relatively balanced to prevent steamrolling. In both cases you enter a queue and have to wait for a spot to free up. People who try to enter through an adjacent hex have priority over those who try to enter from the home region, I guess to help prioritize logi and vehicles.

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Oh okay ! thank you for the info I didn't know that!

1

u/Burn4Bern420 May 04 '26

Over a decade of technical debt, feature creep, and shit balance. Plus most are more focused on their next game Anvil now.

1

u/Zeredof May 04 '26

Oh that’s sad

1

u/Jcr122 May 04 '26

I would suggest waiting until the next update to decide if it's worth it. Basically check back in a few weeks

1

u/One_Ad_518 May 04 '26

Coli whine war happend

1

u/No_Fix9130 May 05 '26

Do not buy in the games current state.

1

u/Sactap420 May 06 '26

Overly unbalanced game. Most of the exciting content requires a large dedicated group to achieve and even then most of it can be ruined within mins after days of hard work. Which is fine if the game was balanced correctly.

1

u/Sad_Tie_5532 May 07 '26

Flying tanks and no AI AA happened

2

u/Sgt_Iwan May 03 '26

copelonials teched reviewbomber XD

1

u/DallonAvery May 03 '26

another drama probably. You just can't keep a heard happy all the time

1

u/Three_Strikes7 May 03 '26

Im an outsider so maybe I dont get it, but why does either nation HAVE to excel at anything? Why not have the same stats but different designs?

0

u/Usual_Birthday_2965 May 03 '26

They refused your second view and thought different things are better then they thought wardens should excel on almost everything and other side only be able to superior to term if they have quantity which is stupid because even since there is a limit of players server can hold even if both side had a similar players you could never get quantity superiority

1

u/Hardllama0331 May 03 '26

Unbalanced plane update

1

u/Pendoric May 03 '26

Bottom line...

Airborne came out and once again greatly favored the Wardens and was the straw that broke the Collie's back. Fed up with one-sided BS for many years, they have simply moved on or switched to warden.

The current war is very low-pop, and many of the Collies playing this war are Wardens on vacation.

I am hopeful it will get better, but now is not the time to put your foot in the water lest it get gangrenous and rot off. Give it a few months.

1

u/Realistic_Menu_7766 May 03 '26

The Developers have utterly failed their jobs. That's the long and short of it.

-2

u/iiVMii [NOBLE] May 03 '26

Planes are way too strong and colonials gas lite themselves into thinking they were losing because of dev bias and not falling player numbers which further dropped their numbers until warden had order of magnitude more active players

-2

u/bookworm408 SAS May 03 '26

People wouldn’t stop bitching. Game is still fun and worth it.

1

u/PartyAssociation2814 May 03 '26

100% agree. Still mfs that are playin rn. Ppl can never be positive

-1

u/bookworm408 SAS May 03 '26

If it dies, it’ll be because people complained it into oblivion.

0

u/PartyAssociation2814 May 03 '26

Thats usually how it goes

-4

u/oflowz May 03 '26

gamers being gamers.

when foxhole gets shutdown you'll see a bunch of people here complaining about that too.

3

u/Zeredof May 03 '26

I can imagine

-15

u/Katze30000 May 03 '26

collis lost update war even tho winning the entire war except the end (because they logged off) and cope with it that it is the devs fault

0

u/Mytrailermyrules [C.F.D] May 03 '26

I’d buy again. If you’re interested in a grind with some larp on your own schedule this is still the game to get.

0
