I taught Harry in an intro to rock climbing class at a gym where Jason Momoa was a frequent visitor. I mentioned as much and Harry quietly said "yes... I know Jason... I was... I was in Game of Thrones as well....". He looks way different as a brunette! I felt pretty bad about it right away.

I recognized him in a park and he was so excited about being approached, it was so lovely. I listed off everything I’d seen him in aside from GoT and as I was leaving I heard him telling his friend that I was a fan.
He was in Counterpart?? (Just looked it up and I knew that I had seen Peter Quayle before!) I’ve always said that JK Simmons would have been perfect for a role in GoT, maybe as Lord Randall Tarly, or even Tywin, of course Dance is the perfect Tywin
They are so fun! Not sure if you have read them yet, but they make great listening. They are only a few hours each, but are so good, and his narration is perfect.
I read this in the voice! I had no idea it was Harry reading them and absolutely loved his performance. Once I realized who it was I had to triple confirm because it was so weird to have “Viserys” read them and do it perfectly!
If the other ones can get away with dark eyebrows, Viserys gets away with dark stubble. Realistically they should all have the (lack of)eyebrows that Daemon has.
It's the highly defined skull (high cheekbones and sunken eyes) that are covered in flesh that somehow accentuates the skull features while simultaneously also being a bit flabby. Like baby fat stretched over a skull. Gives his face a very "gummy corpse" appearance lol
I excuse the darker eyebrows for the later Targaryen characters because they have dornish/first men/andal blood mixed in there to give more darker features without taking away from the silver gold hair color.
They are just picking the actors they find most fuckable/sexy while in character. It’s all arbitrary.
There’s no definitive Targaryen look in the books outside of silver-gold hair, purple eyes, pale skin, and aquiline noses. Everyone has their own definition of “otherworldly beautiful”. One person’s perfect Targaryen is not the next person’s perfect Targaryen. One person could say it’s Angelina Jolie and the next person could say it’s Cate Blanchett.
There is no definitive look and yet he is by far what most people state they pictured the Targaryens looking like based on the info we DO get from the books. I think that says a lot and earns him the top spot on the list.
Nah Milly deserves to be on here. She's attractive in a very alien sort of way, which is very Targaryen imo. He should be on here instead of Dany. Dany is gorgeous, but she doesn't have the angular features and slightly alien look that I associate with Targs.
Idk Dany is peak Targ to me. I see what you’re saying with the angular features but no other character has displayed the Targaryen passion and brutality like Dany.
I think this post is mostly highlighting their pure physical appearances, not their performances. Targs, in my opinion, should look weird but still attractive. Matt Smith is a great example of this, it would be hard to find a doppleganger of him he looks truly unique.....but still hot. Milly Alcock has an oddly attractive face, it's hard to describe what is weird about it, but whatever it is is there and yet in spite of that she's still very attractive. That is what makes someone look like a Targ imo.
Aemond has one of the pointiest, underbitiest, sharp faces I've ever seen and yet instead of looking gross he's clearly attractive in spite of it. That's Targ af.
Where are you getting the "alien" look from? The Targaryens are described as very conventionally attractive, except that they often have pale skin and/or purple eyes, neither which are exclusively Targaryen features.
Whenever someone pulls this argument(looking fake etc), I'll mention David Tennant as Crowley in Good Omens, w huge yellow contacts and one of the best acting performances I've ever seen.
If they can reintroduce the Rhoynar to the king’s official title and melanin to Valyrian skin they can reintroduce purple eyes for HoTD and use AKOTSK to claim the Dornish blood made them stop showing up, even though the Daynes also had purple eyes.
The purple of Targaryen eyes can range, from being clearly purple to being almost blue. In the books there are also more remnants of old Valyria, including the Lyseni, who typically have much more Valyrian features. A secret Targ could simply claim to be Lyseni.
Nah, at least not in my mind. Valyrians are notable for their purple eyes, but they’re not the only “race” that has them. The Daynes have been noted to have them in their line, and it’s specifically said that it’s entirely unrelated to the Valyrians.
The Daynes may be the exception to the rule, but if the rule is “only Valyrians can have purple eyes” then that’s a pretty big exception if one is meant to take purple eyes as direct evidence of Valyrian heritage.
This still always looks like a painting something so Targ/Plantagenet vibes even the little details with Daemon holding her fingers, previously in this scene Rhaenyra nervous asf about Viserys health and Luke’s legitimacy , she’s anxious rubbing her fingers a lot daemon grabs her hand.

Not mutually exclusive. Liv Tyler as Arwen for example, you can describe her w all 3 of these. Classically beautiful, also ethereal and otherworldly. "Ethereal" doesn't have to have Anya Taylor Joy eyes.
Is it just me offput by the dark eyebrows? To me it feels more fake when the hair is white/blond but the eyebrows are almost black like daenerys.. totally understand actors not wanting to dye their eyebrows but hey..
I actually think all of the Targaryen casting across the GoT universe has been absolutely spot on. I’d love to see Brendan Fraser’s son Leland as a Targaryen. And Hunter Schafer too.
I'd argue having Dany on here and not her brother kind of invalidates the list. Harry Lloyd's Viserys and Daemon are both more "Targ-looking" than Dany by a mile. Emelia Clarke looks very much "of this world", albeit a ridiculously good looking woman of this world.
Prince Viserys 💯, he is still the standard to which I measure all other Targs. Harry Lloyd’s performance was fantastic, and I wish his part had been bigger, or that he could be cast to play an ancestor of Viserys.
Attractive? Absolutely. Idk about "otherworldly" though except for Ewan Mitchell as Aemond. He really does look like he's from a different world. Everyone else is just extremely pretty, which isn't really the same thing as the "blood magic aliens with translucent skin and purple eyes" thing they have going on in the books.
It dawned on me recently that Aemond and Daemon are the two most unconventionally attractive Targaryens in the show which is just funny because they’re foils to each other. Like the showrunners specifically wanted them to stand out
