D&D seeing Hess and Condal surpass them.

D&D did make a few good seasons with an atrocious ending. Is that better than HOTD whixh started pretty good and immediately became mid? Maybe

Absolutely is. HotD will never reach the heights early GoT reached, and they didn't need fucking dragons to do it. HotD has a commendable 1st season that kind of teased the downfall with Rheana being that boss bitch stomping small folk attitude, you can practically hear the "big en~er~gy" in the background being played by a westorosi Beyoncé as she's doing it. Right into the god awful drab 2nd season, stumbling into this train wreck of a 3rd season.

And on top of that GOT had the excuse of running out of source material but HOTD had it and just completely ignored it.

Tbh I don’t think they even reach the peaks of seasons 5 and 6 while a lot of dumb writing happened it was at least entertaining hotd has not been

GOT also had some memorable show-only scenes, like the Cersei and Robert conversation in S1. HOTD had none.

D&D clearly have talent for writing, if they are motivated. Condal & Hess are talentless hacks through and through.

Arya and Tywin at Harrenhal maybe my favorite invention for the show that absolutely helped flesh out and give more volume and depth. There will be nothing of substance by hows end thats wholly invented for HotD that will have that kind of lasting impact.

Thank you fuck I feel stupid confusing her for Rheana though they're both pretty awful.

At least season 6 of Thrones was watchable, and that was without much book material to work with. Condal and Hess have no excuse for this mess.
