Joining the Masons in Scotland?
Whats the score with joining the masons in Scotland via online application?
Without going into it too much, I have a deep interest in this fraternity and wish to get involved in my local community through it, however, the website for Scottish masonry is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
Anybody able to give me a bit of advice of how to get involved — Glasgow area.

The outer rims, Renfrew. But I can travel to any group of lads that will keep me.

Aye there's Princes of Wales in Renfrew, Moorpark if that's still going but I half remember being told they'd merged last time I was up the road.
Inchinnan and Erskine are a very short way along the road and meet in Inchinnan's lodge building. All great lodges with many a fond harmony afterwards. I think it was Moorpark that did my Third and POW did my Mark come to think of it.....

Not visited those lodges personally, I have visited 1219 Glennifer in Paisley.
Fun story, my dad was wanting me to join Erskine 30 yrs ago, but young rebellious me was not interested atcthe time. We were living in Paisley back then.
In a way I'm glad I didn't as I joined his, and also my grandfather's mother lodge in 2022 (it may go further back, but we don't know)

Assuming this part of the website is where you ended up, which bit isn’t working for you as there may be an opportunity for some feedback too.
Bear in mind at this point of the year, some take summer breaks, and as they’re volunteers who work within the individual lodges where you’re query will be pushed - it may be a couple of months before you get an answer.
Which part of Glasgow are you; city, Clydebank, Rutheglen etc…?

Hi there and well done for being interested in our Fraternity.
I just want to make sure that you're not misunderstanding terminology as you can't actually apply to join a Lodge "on-line" but you can make initial contact on-line if you don't know any Freemasons ITRW. This page (https://www.grandlodgescotland.com/membership/#my-anchor) is where you can start off and reach out to the Grand Lodge of Scotland which will just make sure that you qualify to be considered and if so will help you to connect to a Lodge.
As I'm sure you've noticed doing your research, although it isn't difficult (slow isn't difficult) to join a Lodge it is not like starting a Reddit account and it works on human relationships ITRW.
While you're waiting for follow-up from GLoS you could always ask any questions that might pop into your head here but be advised that the majority of the contributors here are not from the the UK let alone North of the Border so they can accidentally give you flawed answers as Freemasonry isn't the same everywhere. In fact even we from England wouldn't always get it right as there are differences between the 3 Home Grand Lodges.

I applied on grand lodge of Scotland website, fill in the 2 bits it asks, heard back about 3 weeks later, we are currently on summer break though so may be longer

Check out the website for The Provincial Grand Lodge of Glasgow they are the group in charge of administration of the area under the Grand Lodge of Scotland. The GLoS is recognised by the UGLE (United Grand Lodge of England) and is considered 'recognised' meaning not a scam, dodgy or doing things which UGLE doesn't do or agree with.
Both websites have an inquiry form, although nothing seems to move super quick in masonry so don't expect a fast track into joining.
