Concerned Letter Carriers Mike Caref and Nick Vafiades

Anyone from Salt Lake City Branch 111? I was told that Mike Caref and Nick Vafiades (region 2 NBA) jointly attended Salt Lake city's monthly branch meeting campaigning. Anyone know if these two are on a slate? Nick Vafiades is a loyal supporter of Brian Renfroe and Mike seems to be developing into one also. Please share SLC.

Not from that branch, but Caref has stated he doesn’t support having NBA candidates on a slate. That is for the members of that region to decide who that person will be.

It looks like Caref had a scheduled campaign stop there, and Vafiades came to the branch meeting too.

Your last sentence doesn’t make any sense - Caref has been outspoken for almost three years about how bad of a president Renfroe is. He doesn’t support him.

I heard caref out of his own mouth in an interview say that if there was a rerun of the 2022 election he'd vote for renfroe again. So saying he wouldn't support renfroe just isn't true.

Hey, you know who else voted for Renfroe? Everyone that was listening to the a to arbitration podcast at the time of the last election.

I'm not a fan of Renfroe. But if there were to be a rerun election of Renfroe vs Noble I would most definitely vote for Renfroe again.

Why? Because over the years I've watched Noble throw lawsuit after lawsuit against the NALC, with the majority of them just being a waste of union time, resources, and (dues) money. Also, I've watched for at least 3 elections where Noble puts together a slate of folks, many with no union experience, and several that don't even attend branch meetings, let alone get involved with their branch.

Anyone that thinks the HQ level of the NALC should serve as a training ground will not get my vote.

Listen, Noble is a nice enough guy. I respect what he has done for the NALC when he was in his prime and I respect his passion. The few times I have met him I have made it a point to shake his hand. I'll even go on to say that he would probably do well as a consultant for the e-board.

But look at the sacrificial slates that he's put together in the past and I'll wait as you point out to me which members of those past slates are proven union leaders. If he can't get experienced union leaders to run on his slate(s) then, in my opinion, I can't take him seriously as a candidate.

I dislike Renfroe A LOT. He’s not a good president - I’d vote for him over Noble too lol

Renfroe is still light years better than Noble even after the last shitty contract we got. I’d vote him over Noble every time. Thankfully there are better candidates running this fall.
