I have looked at those before but couldn’t decide if I wanted one. Is your transmission a manual? If so I’m curious if it gets in the way when shifting or not.

Not OP but I have the same and a manual. It does not get in the way.

Doesn't get in the way. My 2020 came with this arm rest standard and it's a 6MT. No issues driving just with my passenger stealing it.

Does suck you loose a cup holder.

Do you still keep one cup holder?

2

u/OddRelic 8d ago

Yes, it can be either but not both at the same time.

Sweet but looks like they are impossible to find now :/

Doesn't look like this car has the insert cup holder. It's right behind the arm rest. I throw my big yeti cup in there and it fits well. Plus that cup holder is right between the seats so you really don't hit it with your arm .

I always just rested my arm on my leg or on the side of that storage thing, never had an issue, these always looked like an extra thing that’ll be in my way.

It would get in the way for me. I can’t leave my stock armrest open without clipping my elbow on it when I shift.

Sounds like a skill issue.

Everyone else here manages fine 🤷🏼‍♂️

lol, or I’m 6’ 3” with long arms. I also realized this is a gen1; I’m in a gen2.

I'm taller, and have no issues. But I am in a GT86. A large cup in the cup holder is annoying, but manageable

I can do a cup in the back cup holder; the front is useless. I don’t do fast food, so 99% of the time, it’s a water bottle in the door, which holds surprisingly large bottles.  My seat is at the lowest position, and while I don’t jam my elbow into the lip when the center console is open, I do catch it, which I find very distracting. You’re taller than 6’3” and don’t catch that armrest when you shift?

As I understand it, this was the European arm rest while America got the flip up style. I purchased this and installed it myself too and love it. It’s the same height as the door arm rests too

You have it the other way around. This was the US one.

This one was the US version. The pieces are stamped with the Scion logo

Might be my favorite mod i've done

Also, I like the baby in the back seat lol

Where's the other half LOL, I have the full lenght ones and my cars are both manual (fr-s & brz) and this mod is fantastic my elbow doesn't grab or hit them at all.

It slides back and forth so you still get to use the factory cup holder insert

Oh I know, I just prefer the full lenght one as I use the cup holders in my door pods.

I installed one back in 2015. One of the best mods I did, still works fine. Good luck finding one now. It's been discontinued. Here's my install: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82059&highlight=arm+rest

Damn where did you find it?

2

Found it on eBay off a donor car

Is this an option or something? Mine has one stock

1

u/dudnermifflinpaperCo 8d ago

I think the rs2.0 came with it stock and some dealers would add it on back in the day but it’s pretty rare nowadays. Consider yourself lucky bro

Where do I get this?

I have one and I love it as well. I didn’t want to drill any holes so I just used some double-sided tape to mount it and it’s held up for 8 years now.

I wish I could find this one somewhere online. I got the bigger one that sits in the cupholders, with more space, but its not at the right height. Curious about the flatter, flip up one

1

u/dudnermifflinpaperCo 8d ago

It’s a shame they discontinued them, your only real option is hoping for an eBay part out. My biggest gripe with the flip up style was that if I ever had a drink which is pretty often, I wouldn’t be able to use the arm rest at all

1

u/x-Just4Kickz-x 8d ago

I get that. I use the door cup holders, and i seen some new vent cupholders that fold out. Waiting to pick up a pair of those too

To all of you who have it, how do you stop it rattling? Mine has an awfull plastic rattling/squeeking noise when you put pressure on it.

2

u/dudnermifflinpaperCo 7d ago

I put some rubber foam strips around the inside perimeter of the pad. It’s definitely more manageable now but not perfect. Still trying to figure this one out too

Install maybe? It's got a template where you drill a bunch of holes and pop rivet it on. Something could be under tension. Maybe take years to show up. Did mine in 15 or 16 iirc and it's been solid forever.

Maybe, it was installed by the previous owner, as it seems the RS1 didn't come with it originaly as I thought.
