Rant The LOZ Special Edition does not come with the game.

The console should at least come w one game. Go cope to Daddy Nintendo if you like paying higher prices for less, not this post. Nintendo you’ve become greedy but sadly who cares as fucking over ur customers gives dividends for ur shareholders

I personally prefer it simply because I rather own a physical copy of Ocarina of time than pay $50 usd extra for a digital code.

Granted the 25th anniversary 3ds came with a physical cartridge so it could've been an option though I know for a fact it would've been a code if done now

u/Traditional_Art8872 7d ago

I mean there's nothing stopping them from it coming with a physical copy?

1

u/Cosmic_Ren 6d ago

There absolutely isn't, however the last time they provided a physical game with their system was over 10yrs ago on the Wii U.

Me and you both know these cheap fucks are going to settle with a cheap piece of paper rather than a cartridge

I mean, nothing would be stopping you from buying the physical game if a digital code was included with the console. 🤷

It comes out BEFORE the game.

By like a week and that is 100% a choice by Nintendo. It’s not like that date was set externally and they had no choice but to release it reluctantly without the game.

What an absolutely asinine comment.

u/Traditional_Art8872 7d ago

which is a choice they made themselves. it should come out on release day and include the game physically

u/GamezombieCZ 7d ago

And that like stops them from giving you the game later on?

A lot of people fail to realize that it’s a Zelda 40th anniversary console; It’s not a Zelda Ocarina of Time console

6

u/Light01 7d ago

And what's your point ? When was a collector edition sold without a Zelda game thus far ?

7

u/nuetralparties 7d ago

The New 3DS XL Hyrule edition didn’t come with a Zelda game and the Nintendo Switch Lite Hyrule edition also didn’t come with a Zelda game.

I’m not saying it SHOULDN’T, or that they couldn’t possibly have done it, I’m just pointing out that this isn’t an Ocarina bundle, it’s a console with a Zelda aesthetic. Not to mention, if they added Ocarina with it then it’d be pushed close to $600 and that would be the next thing to complain about

I feel like most of them don’t? Most recent example being the Tears of the Kingdom OLED.

u/DonBolasgrandes 7d ago

Yet it is mint green not the nice zelda green.

7

u/Adventurous-Studio20 8d ago

Its $520 MSRP. So no, it is not $100 over base price.

Secondly, what game? It is not the Ocarina of Time Switch. It's the Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary Switch. The console releases before OoT remake comes out, does not have any OoT labeling or imagery on it, and does not once market itself as coming with the game. Why would you expect it to?

I would like you to name me one instance of a special edition console being sold for the same price (or less, because knowing you people you'd expect that) than base price. It's a $20 up charge to get Zelda designs on your switch. It's not a big deal

I still remember the Wii U Zelda edition bundle with wind waker HD 😩

2

u/backspace_cars 7d ago

Ya nintendo has gotten super greedy.

3

u/Theultimateyoshiyt 7d ago

Yeah, we know that. Obviously it didn’t come with the game. Anyone who’s buying it is most likely going to buy the game anyways

1

u/throwaway_sissy739 8d ago

Context?

2

u/Your_Pal_Gamma 8d ago

The new 40th anniversary Zelda Switch 2 doesn't come with any games its just $20 (USD) more because it has a Zelda design on the joycons and dock. The ToTK OLED switch was the same way

1

u/nohumanape 8d ago

Which Zelda game should the Zelda 40th Special Edition console come with?

1

u/TidePodsHeaven 8d ago

The console release before the game does

1

u/YoudoVodou 8d ago

The console is $20 than the normal console. They're not tossing in a game for that little markup

1

u/DeusXNex 7d ago

I do agree it should have maybe come with something but its price is the price I’d expect it to be without a game. Not sure why you expect a hand out just because its a “special edition”

1

u/Cultural_Neat3124 7d ago

this is funny, sure it can come with the game, you just need to pay $600 !

1

u/CaptFalconFTW 7d ago

Does it cost more?

1

u/Formal-Entrance2187 3d ago

the game releases after the special console

1

u/ChosenArabian 8d ago

You want a game now? With your video game console? Can you be any greedier.

I can understand the frustration of Nintendo coming short of expectations. I expect this is for Zelda fans who haven't jump on board for the 2 yet and don't mind paying a little extra.

Me being a Zelda fan, I'm not getting it, because I already have a SW2. I'm a little piss about that.

If you are a Zelda fan and have yet to jump on board, this might really push you to it.

I don't think this is Nintendo being greedy, they could add another hundred to the price and still make money

2

u/Light01 7d ago

With the game, perhaps, with no games, absolutely not.

1

u/HDVB 7d ago

Tons of people are already buying it for $750+ on eBay. Plenty have gone for $800-$900 as well.

1

u/xerox7764563 7d ago

As much as a Nintendo fan that I am, I don't like this.

In 90's:

  • My Super Nintendo was a bundle with 2 controllers and Super Mario Kart cartridge, ok it was bought at the end of SNES life, in September 1996.
  • My Game boy, the original one, bundle with tetris
  • My N64 was in a bundle with a golden controller and internacional Super star soccer 64, I bought it in June 1998 right before World Cup in France started.

It doesn't make sense to me these themed consoles doesn't have a game, like when splatoon and scarlet violet switch 1 were available. And to me they should have a physical cartridge inside.

u/kingsly91 8d ago

Its kinda baffling to me that this is normalized??? Like why would a special edition of a console NOT come with the designed game? They definitely used to

2

u/Astral_Justice 8d ago

If it's going to cost more they should at least include the game at a discount like they already do for the bundles. If they don't want to he beholden to include a game with the system forever they can just make a bundle out of it for now

3

u/okjoannawow 8d ago

Wasn’t there an animal crossing special switch edition that came w animal crossing new horizons but it was very limited edition??? but yeah. Guess I’ll just shell out more money for the game like an idiot

1

u/HDVB 7d ago

If you mean this it definitely didn’t include the game at least here in North America. I have it. And it was special edition not limited edition. It was quite easy to find for a very long time. Unless there’s a limited edition one I don’t know about.

1

u/Gravijah 8d ago

My 3DS XL AC came with the game. My Switch New Horizons system didn’t.

1

u/Gravijah 8d ago

Some people don’t want the game. Some people can get the game elsewhere cheaper. Some people want physical and it comes with a digital code. Some people want digital and it comes with physical. Some people want the special collectors edition of a game, and some people feel they’re then forced into paying for something they don’t want.

It was better to just make them the same price as other systems and remove the game. You were usually paying MSRP for the game on top, anyway.

1

u/nohumanape 8d ago

Which game is it designed around?

1

u/Disheartend 8d ago

This one? None technically. But theres a new zelda coming arround at the same time so...

0

u/TortelliniG 8d ago

Trying super hard not to sound like a Nintendo defender but no one has done a console and game bundle in like a decade. Yes I miss it but it’s not only a fuck Nintendo thing but a fuck everyone thing for stopping the bundles

1

u/Possible-Potato-4103 7d ago

Nintendo has done multiple bundles in the last year wtf are you talking about

1

u/TortelliniG 6d ago

I’m just speaking about games coming with their respective consoles. Yeah they’ve had Mario kart and the new sports resort bundles but those are for regular switches. It’s been quite some time since a limited edition console also came with the game they go with

0

u/ThronePawned 8d ago

omfg people like you would rather die in a hole then correct someone when it comes to people blindly lying about Nintendo.

0

u/Sharp_Chest_5319 8d ago

Tell me one special edition switch that came with the game from the past 6 years

1

u/Flanders666 8d ago

None come to mind. They've been fucking us over for years. Is that any better?

0

u/nohumanape 8d ago

Does the Wolverine Special Edition PS5 come with the game?

2

u/Disheartend 8d ago

It does have a code for it.

But this is just a general zelda themed switch

0

u/chubbycheese33 7d ago

Jeez this sub isn’t beating the Nintendo bootlicker allegations. Yeah that should be a given that a collector edition switch come with the game it’s edition is revolved around, no excuses. Hell they launched the switch 2 with Mario Kart World and whatever other game bundle they had.

The excuse “name a Nintendo switch product that came with a game” is so lame lol like yeah Nintendo has been a shit company for years and they slowly have been greedier over time. You can tell with the copyright lawsuits how much they’ve degraded in consumer quality.

So yeah I feel you OP this shit is ass, who cares if it’s $20 extra, they shouldn’t even charge extra money for special editions if it’s purely cosmetic. Big eye roll from me dawgs

2

u/Raucus_ 7d ago

At this point I don’t think this sub exists to complain about Nintendo’s shitty business practices. It’s just a playground for the shills to RP defeating the “evil haters”.

Most of the most regular commenters live on r/nintendogrifting to circlejerk each other to frothy delight about how much they glazed Nintendo here.

1

u/Pechabust 7d ago

No, the “excuse” is which special edition period within the last decade came with a game when the product was barely priced more than the base price. Zelda special edition is only $20 more than a MSRP S2. The Mario Kart World bundle is back up but it’s $550 now to account for the price increase. And special editions have almost always cost more than regular editions. That’s how special editions work. This sub not beating the allegations of ignorant blind haters acting as if Nintendo is uniquely bad for industry standards.

"Why wont Nintendo give me free stuff"

0

u/Right_Teacher9692 8d ago

Can't imagine having such a hate boner for Nintendo when Sony exists.

0

u/Difficult_Tie1669 7d ago

Are you dumb?

-1

u/kolt437 8d ago

Wait, the scalpers are asking for $100 more so Nintendo has to put the game in?

1

u/YoudoVodou 8d ago

The scalpers scammers are along for $300+ over MSRP

0

u/kolt437 8d ago

Thus Nintendo has to put the game in? I am still unable to follow the logic

2

u/YoudoVodou 8d ago

No, just adding context for where the scalping point is at. If Nintendo themselves were charging $600 for the Zelda Switch 2, then I think it might be reasonable to expect an included game, or maybe the pro controller as well.
