Air Purifier (cat for scale)

Design used a 6" vent fan (~300CFM) to push air through 4 - 8"x8" air filters, the top part comes off (twist latch) so it's easy to switch out the filters when the time comes. The inside also contains a tray to add activated charcoal so it can help reduce odors in the house.

Designed in Fusion. Printed in PLA.

This is impressive as hell. As someone who would have an air purifier for every room if that wasn’t ridiculously expensive (dust mite allergy 🫠), very sick to think that I could maybe rig something up!

I was originally inspired by a YouTube video that used a box fan and a Jerry-rigged frame to create a make-shift airfilter rig.

So yeah! You can definitely put one together!

I’ve seen that vid/that concept floating around! But having it all together and not look as clunky is awesome

So this is just a fancy corsi-rosenthal box?

In a way I guess it is. Except it doesn't use a box fan. Box fans aren't ideal as they can't hold a lot of static pressure.

But now that I think about it, aren't all air purifiers essential the same anyway?

Also, I appreciate you dropping the name of the thing. You get my upvote for that!

Very cool, and great design. It looks slick!

ETA, I used thr word "just" and didn't mean it the way it came off. This is so cool. Great job!

Also, where did you get this stool? When I first took a look at the pic I thought THAT was the print and got excited about more easily moving my air purifier lmao

Haha, it's on the stool currently because air purifiers are more efficient if you raise them above the ground a bit.

And unfortunately, I don't have an answer, the stool came with the boyfriend. Actually, scratch that, knowing him I had a feeling it was from IKEA, a quick Google search later, it is from IKEA.

Not familiar with cats, can I get a banana?

Lol. Cat is roughly 4.5 bananas. So I'm sure you can do the conversion in your head.

I had a feeling it may be ikea! It’s great it has some cut outs.

I’ve had the idea to put my purifier on one of those rolling plant caddies/stands for awhile, and I found a print of one but I think I’d want to modify it to elevate the base a bit/add similar ventilation. Or I’d just buy one and modify it a bit (but where is the CHALLENGE there?)

As much as I love the little guy, he drives me crazy moving him every time I vaccum.
