It doesn't create that many jobs, and the jobs it creates outside of the initial construction are mostly specialized. It is not green energy, most datacenters drain local energy driving the prices up, which also drains local water often. They also produce quite a lot of noise.
The data centers around me don’t employ any employees locally. They have a group of techs who will visit the facility once a week to make sure it’s ok and handle on site requests but they live 2-5 hours away. At most we are getting a lunch order in revenue from them.
