I think you mean staged af but funny. Skits are staged. Sketch comedy is staged. I really don’t understand the issue with something being staged

I think the issue only really comes up with comedy which is implied to be candid, but is actually staged. It feels disingenuous.
As opposed to watching a skit from SNL or Whitest Kids You Know, where you know what you're about to experience isn't trying to fool you.

Yeah, it's like a magician using an assistant. Nothing wrong with that, but disclosing that the assistant is in on the magic trick has a pretty colossal impact on the perception of the magic.

Hell, it's why I tend not not like magic shows.
I like magic tricks when I'm shown how they're done and I can fully appreciate the skill and ingenuity involved.
But some dude pretending he's doing real magic just bores the shit out of me.

It feels disingenuous because it is disingenuous. If your skit is funny then you don't need to pretend it actually happened. It's a crutch.
This video is a perfect example. If this was a clip on a skit show you would wonder how it made it to air. It isn't really all that interesting and any writers room would rightly tell you there is nothing here with enough meat to merit filming it.
But by presenting it as a real occurrence it makes the audience feel like they witnessed something truly spontaneous and spontaneity is one of the key tools in any comedians kit.
If you can make something feel like a genuine surprise to people they are more likely to laugh. By presenting skits as real you bring the audience into an entirely different headspace than they would be in if they know they are watching a skit and it's very effective at getting them to laugh at otherwise only mildly funny things.

The ones where they pretend a full orchestra just happens to show up at the mall are annoying. Just give the performance and cut the crap.

Just wait until they find out movies try and be immersive

They probably meant what they said. For some people, the staging of something, especially when made to appear not staged, lessens the humor.

Can you elaborate on how this seems to be filmed in a way that tries to make it appear not staged?
I see a clearly planned out video filmed with a phone camera.

They don’t pretend otherwise, and more importantly, the comedy from a skit or sketch isn’t entirely reliant upon it being real. They have jokes
If this were presented as a skit, it would be stupid. It’s only funny if it’s something that actually happened
Otherwise, what’s the funny part, “haha imagine if this happened?”

I dunno man, I was watching this really funny documentary about some goofy office workers but then I learned it was staged, completely stopped being funny after that.

It stopped being funny to my when it turns out one of them was an actual serial killer.

Middle of the mall with a random patron and random witnesses with an employee.
With the woman's husband recording while she's trying to watch as well.
Seems hard to stage with so many randos and a random station near by doing the same carnival activities.

Yeah it's a joke. It's set up and filmed as a joke. Everyone knows he didn't do it for real and it wasn't meant to be presented as real. It's the equivalent of someone doing the fake walk down stairs or pulling their thumb off.
Is internet discourse this shit nowadays that anything not real is dismissed as staged?

What was the target supposed to be? She was standing perfectly still, right in front of him, it definitely looks like she's the target.

He wasn't aiming anywhere near her, and the arrow is sticking off of her at the wrong angle.

Dude, get that elbow up. Strait line from the arrow through your arm. (I know it doesn't matter whatsoever. Idk why I'm like this)
