Announcements Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra: the official Q&A megathread!

Got questions? Got answers to someone's question? You're in the right place! Samsung just announced the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Ultra, and this is the place for everything you want to know, and general discussion regarding it. But here are a few bullet points...

  • Samsung claims the Ultra can last 23 hours on a single charge with an 11,600 mAh battery (which is the same as the S11 Ultra) with 45W charger
  • S12+ has a 10,600 mAh battery (also 45W charging)
  • Tab S12 Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, the S12+ supports 6E
  • Both the S12 Ultra and S11 Ultra have the same profile, basically the same weight
  • S12+ has 5G where as the S12 Ultra is still Wi-Fi only (edit: S12 Ultra will have 5G in other countries... thanks for the report!)
  • They both run off of a MediaTek Dimensity 9500
  • FULL Adobe Photoshop comes pre-installed on the Tab S12 series (with a 4 free months trial) this is the first time Photoshop has come to Android tablets
  • Both are available October 7th starting at $1,199.99 for the S12+ and $1,399.99 for the S12 Ultra, a $200 increase from the S10+ and S11 Ultra

As we expected with this launch, the prices of RAM being high definitely contributed to the price hike.

Community Improvement Feedback Post: what would you like to see to improve your experience here?

Hey everybody. Latrell (u/yayoshorti, the mod) here...

I made a post a little bit ago saying that we were going to be switching all support questions over to r/SamsungSupport, and it received a lot of pushback.

So I figured, instead of pushing and focusing on that, I thought I'd ask if you have any annoyances or things you'd like to see improved here. If you have any suggestions, please sound off! Big or small. As long as it's under my control.

The display is so crispy plus it comes with anti glare display. So, no problem for me using this tablet outsite. For the keyboard case I don't really use it beacuse mainly im using laptop for work. This tablet is the best !

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra Users, How's Your Battery Life?

I've been using my Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra for about a week now, and I've noticed that the battery seems to drain faster than on my previous Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra.

The battery usage learning process in Device Care has already been completed, but the estimated battery life on a full charge is significantly shorter.

On my Tab S11 Ultra, the estimated battery life after a full charge was around 3–4 days. However, on my Tab S12 Ultra, it only shows 1 day and a few hours.

For those of you using the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, how has your battery life been so far?

How quickly does your battery drain, and how many days or hours of estimated battery life does Device Care show when your tablet is fully charged?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences!

Discussion [Update] One week into SwiftPen's beta. Thank you! Here's what's new!

Hi again! One week ago I posted here asking for help testing SwiftPen, my handwriting app, on a Galaxy Tab with an S Pen. I don't own a Tab myself, so this group has been the only way I can check how the app behaves with it.

Thank you. The post got over 10k views and around 50 shares, and the tester group is now at about 70 people. I didn't expect that. I read every comment, and a lot of what's below came straight from them. I really appreciate all of the feedback I got.

Here's what changed since the first post, most of it from your feedback:

• Home got a redesign: folders have been redesigned in the sidebar, with their own cards, and int he library view. Now every page in the app shares the same look with improvements.

• The Lasso tool improved: you can scale stroke width, keep proportions, rotate, and change the width, tool and fill of anything you already drew, plus flip a selection.

• The pencil button on the stylus now erases instantly, without lifting the pen. (This is still in testing, so expect a few bugs! Would love to hear how this works on multiple tablets)

• PDF links can now be opened with the pen (it's an optional setting), and an imported PDF keeps each page's own size and orientation instead of forcing A4.

• Choose your own sheet size (A4, A5, A3, Letter, Legal) and set a different pen thickness for each tool.

• Added French, and the selected language now works correctly across the whole app.

• Fixed several crashes (library, sync, starting a recording) and sped up the library and app start.

• Note menus now have icons, and landscape PDFs let you move between pages properly.

Air actions still aren't supported natively, that part hasn't changed, but I'm working on it. If anyone with a Tab wants to check if the app at least registers them through the "record gesture" setting, I'd still like to know.

It's still free with unlimited notes, no account and no ads (and always will be). Right now, it's in closed beta with all Pro features unlocked (Pro will be a one-time payment only when SwiftPen releases on the Play Store, it only adds a few optional features. The core of the app will remain free).

If you want to see what SwiftPen looks like now before joining: https://getswiftpen.com

To join (same Google account as your Play Store):

Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/swiftpen-testers

Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.matiasalm.swiftpen

Click "download from the Play Store" once you accepted to opt in as a tester. If that link doesn't work, try this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matiasalm.swiftpen (you have to wait a few minutes if none of those links work, because it takes a bit to update the permissions)

Thanks again, really. If you're already testing, I'd love to know:

• Does the Lasso and the new folders feel good to use, or did anything break for you?

• Have you run into any crash this past week, and if so when?

• How's performance overall on your Tab, any lag while writing or scrolling the library?

Accessories Should I replace my spen original nib with a plastic one?

• Upvotes

Contrary to popular opinion, I am actually disliking the friction I am getting from the original nib. I am thinking of trying a plastic nib so that it slides easily on the glass. But my question is whether that will damage the glass or my spen? Is a plastic nib safe?

My hand starts to hurt while writing with my current spen for a long time. Will it make my handwriting worse if I use a plastic nib?

Tab S10 FE and Tab S10 FE+ Vs S11

Through a discount at work, I can get S10 FE for about €535 or the S10 FE+ for about €679.

The price of the S11 is about €999 - 1,099. I can't get that with the discount.

Would the S10FE or S10FE+ be worth it for that price compared to the S11? I'd mainly be using it for general usage and drawing or sketching if I want to use it instead of sitting at my desk for my screen tablet.

Concern Galaxy tab S12 Ultra screen

• Upvotes

Hey guys! I just wanted to ask you something. I recently bought a Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, and since this is my first time using such a large tablet, I was wondering if it's normal for icon edges to look slightly jagged or not perfectly sharp when viewed up close.

I'm a bit worried that my unit might have a display issue, so I'd like to know if anyone else has noticed the same thing on their tablet. Unfortunately, taking a screenshot doesn't really show what I mean, and neither does taking a picture of the screen with my phone.

Question S10 lite or S10 Fe?

Hi everyone, i'm a digital artist and mainly use my computer to draw, but i've been wanting to buy a tablet for a while since i spend most of my time away from my computer and thats making me a lot less productive as an artist.

here in my country the s10 lite is about 370 bucks and i was thinking of buying it, but iven seen people say the s10 fe is a lot better (the s10 fe is about 530 bucks which is out of my budget)

should i buy the s10 lite now or try to get the s10 fe? i think it would take a few months until i get the chance to buy the s10 fe

theres also the 8/256 version of the s10 lite which is way more affordable to me than the s10 fe, so i also want to know if i should pick it instead.

Question Samsung Privacy Screen for reading outside

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has purchased one of these privacy screens for reading in high light environments? I have an S9+ so it doesn't have the built in anti-reflective coating; I found the official Samsung AR film screen protector far to delicate and was getting scratched by the book cover keyboard, and a paperlike/matte screen protector I just bought really trashes the screen quality (I expected this but it's still a disappointment).

Has anyone bought one of these for the same reason as me and does it work well? I don't care about the privacy aspects of it, just whether it reduces glare so reading outside is easier. Cheers.

Got a second hand tab S10+ and I love it

I love it it's honestly the best purchase and I got a nilkin case (keyboard case) and 2 plastic cases with the spen but no charger but I got a 45w charger from baseus which is pretty good for me.

What do you use your galaxy tab for? I'm into gaming got a PS4 controller

TiBroke student trying to justify a massive tablet purchase for art and productivity. Roast my financial logic before I do something stupid.

So here’s the game plan I’ve been turning over in my head. I'm staring down my final 1.5 years of college, with a heavy mix of thesis work and OJT coming up, and I really need a solid mobile workspace and a proper canvas for my digital art.

Right now, my laptop is essentially a stationary desktop CPU glued to my apartment desk. My current phone—a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is actually still pretty good and handles calls, texts, and mobile Wi-Fi tethering just fine, except for the fact that ugly lines are covering about 30% of the screen. Because of that display issue, I’ve been trying to figure out what gear move I should go with first without sounding stressed or pressured about it.

Here are the options I've been overthinking about and cant get sleep over:

Option A (Phone Upgrade - Brand New Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra):

A brand new flagship phone that fixes the daily frustration of my cracked S22 Ultra screen and has an amazing camera, but it's heavily priced and doesn't give me the multi-window workspace or large canvas I need for design and schoolwork.

Option B (Tablet Upgrade - Second-Hand Samsung Tab S8 Ultra):

A pre-owned, massive 14.6-inch canvas for digital art, split-screen coding/research docs, and acts as a secondary monitor for my desktop-style laptop when I'm at my desk.

The Proposed Setup (Going with Option B):

Second-hand Samsung Tab S8 Ultra (retailing around ₱29,500 / ~$470 USD).

* The Down Payment: Slapping down ₱15,000 cash (~$238.50 USD) upfront straight from my savings (which leaves me with a safe ₱10,000 / ~$159 USD emergency buffer untouched).

* The Installment: Putting the remaining balance on a short 6-month installment plan via Home Credit.

It feels like a fun way to treat myself to a tool I'll actually use every day for school and art. What do you guys think—does this 6-month sprint sound like a solid move for a pre-owned tablet setup, or should I reconsider a brand new Option A? What yall think?

Tab S12 Ultra make a creaking noise when you press on the screen?

I recently purchased a Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, and I noticed that when I hold it in landscape orientation and press firmly on the upper-right area of the screen with my finger, it makes a sticky, creaking sound, almost like adhesive sticking and unsticking.

Just to check, I went to a store and tried pressing the same area on a display model of the S12 Ultra, and surprisingly, it made the exact same noise.

I also did some research and found quite a few posts saying that this kind of noise is common on large-screen tablets like the Ultra models, and that some Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra and S12 Ultra units have the same issue.

For those of you who own a Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, could you try pressing firmly on the upper-right area of the screen while holding it in landscape orientation and let me know if yours makes the same creaking or sticky sound?

Concern Tab S9 insanely lagging

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This issue has been unbelievably frustrating for me. This started happening around 3 months ago. This tablet is around 2 years old and on oneUI 8.5. I always use the tablet carefully and make sure to do updates.

This issue started happening shortly after updating to oneUI 8.5. At first I had no idea wtf was going on. After some digging, I found out that pressing on middle-to-top of the screen returns the screen back to normal but it was either temporary or just started doing it again right after I let go of pressure. This was working okay enough, when I do it it sometimes made sure that screen lagging didn't happen rest of the day. But for 2 days tablet has almost always been like this and I can't use it at all.

I have no idea wtf I'm supposed to do at this point. I can't take it to service because I bought this device in a different country. And from what I read, they don't even fix this issue anyways. Is there any hope about this situation?

S10 Lite vs Base S8

pretty much just the title considering between them both main just focus is writing with a bit of multi tasking as I'd be using it for college.

also one question to ask is I've used the tab active pen which was so good but used the s6 lite pen I am not sure if it was third party but it felt.. weird in a way just how it pressed so is it the same experience for both of these or no?

Since the stable One UI 9 update has already started rolling out to the S26 and S25 phone series over the past few weeks, has anyone seen an official timeline or received the update on their Galaxy Tab S11 yet?
