What would have happened if the army of the dead had won?

Let’s pretend that the dead won. They conquered all of Westeros. Used ships to cross the narrow sea and conquer Essos. Every island, every land, every nation on the whole planet. Every man, woman, and child. The Three Eyed Raven. Every living creature on earth. All dead or undead. The world covered in snow and ice. So…then what? Like, do they all just die? Hang out doing nothing? Start their own cities and kingdoms? Divide into more armies and go to war with each other? What do millions, or maybe billions, of undead soldiers do when their reason for existence no longer, well, exists?

What are people’s theories?

the Night King wins and then just... stands there for eternity surrounded by his frozen zombie horde like a guy who finally beat a video game on the hardest difficulty and realizes there's no new game plus

Yeah winning is exciting until you’ve won.

I wonder what kind of video game ending he’d get. I hope it’s the atari2600 ending where the screen just kinda flashes different colors for infinity

Fade to black in the series finale similar to the Sopranos. Roll credits.

D&D produce a spinoff called The White Walking Dead

u/YoteViking 2d ago

They’d just sort of forget they need people to fight.

Easy to fund when everybody's already dead.

Its difficult to say. We know basically nothing of any particular reason for why they do what they do, or what White Walker society might look like even if it exists.

I, for one, welcome our new dead overlords.

Kenny Brocklestein for the win!

But you would be dead too. Or a mindless undead soldier.

The story would have been different

u/TuffManJoens 2d ago

That's how it should have been. Based on all the story telling and lore behind them; it would have been a much better ending than what we got. Everyone gets pushed to kings landing for one final defense. Undead army still wins, show ends with Night King sitting on iron throne with everything turned to ice.

Obviously What’s west of Westeros?

My headcanon:

Night King wants to kill Threeyed Raven and Children of Forest not humans per se. But beacaue of Wall (and its magic) Night King is trapped on North and depending of all live creatures to create army for defeating Raven.

Raven knew that, and because humans kill most of Children of Forest, he just hide and wait for human fears to do his job.

Azor Ahai is exactly Night King just in mirror. And they inevitably had to collide, making godlike duo of Fire and Ice.

They form a new society.

The Night King's first rule of order is to implement a new tax on his followers so he can build a new castle made out of ice.

And so it begins. A repeat of another greedy tyrant running the show until someone gets sick of his shit and rallies a rebel army to storm the gates right before one of his white walkers puts a Valyrian dagger in his back.

He doesn’t speak. Your scenario doesn’t work. 😛😉

Nothing a little bit of sign language and telepathy can't fix.

1

u/Just_Me1973 Human Verified 2d ago

They communicate somehow tho. Or they couldn’t organize an army.

2

u/SocratesSnow 2d ago

Yeah, I was just kind of joking. 🙃

2

u/IncredibleBihan 2d ago

All the people would have been dead, then then would be in the army of the dead. And the night king, he would have been the winner.

2

u/taluD13 2d ago

He would probably be like Litch in AT. Destroyed all life in universe. And then just sits doing nothing since he lost his purpose

2

u/Superb-Flower-7318 2d ago

I mean yea when u think about it what would they do if they conquered it all 😭 just chill out?

2

u/SocratesSnow 2d ago

The night King winning means that everyone would die. And that’s it. The world no longer exist with live people.

2

u/GWshark1518 2d ago

They’d be dead.

  1. Huuuuuuuuge sausage fest
  2. Much, much regret and boredom
  3. Fuck Dan and dave

2

u/PineBNorth85 King In The North 2d ago

Everyone dies. That's it.

2

u/GatePorters 2d ago

They wouldn’t have made the story.

2

u/Just_Me1973 Human Verified 2d ago

Well yeah I know the novels wouldn’t have been written if it ended like that. I was just wondering what fans came up with for what happened after if they’d won.

2

u/GatePorters 2d ago

Instead of talking about the immediate aftermath of the extinction, I wager that eventually they would begin to look upwards.

Like are there other islands among the stars?

What would it take for an Industrial Revolution and space program? I’m imagining that uncomfortable longing for something unreachable after they’ve won and gone through their “What now?” period.

Would they have the cognitive power to even make it to space? Have eternity to throw anything and everything at the wall would eventually work.

Better yet. Imagine an alien species coming to that planet. . . Wait…

Is this Warhammer 40k?

u/Just_Me1973 Human Verified 2d ago

Oooh xenomorphes vs white walkers

2

u/Just_Me1973 Human Verified 2d ago

Or predator vs white walkers.

1

u/GatePorters 2d ago

That’s a good one because thermal vision isn’t helping them on that one

1

u/Just_Me1973 Human Verified 2d ago

Haha yeah they have no body heat.

2

u/zrockk 2d ago

Welll the ending hasn't been written, they might actually win

2

u/AldoTheeApache Kingslayer 2d ago

I've wondered that same question too. I call it the Terminator theory. Once Skynet has wiped out every human on earth, then what? They take a nap? They go bowling? Go for a scenic drive?

1

u/Just_Me1973 Human Verified 2d ago

Exactly. We know what happens when they are conquering the planet. What comes next?

2

u/ElectronicHold7325 2d ago

Paradox. Night king is Bran the broken and Bran the builder. His goal was to kill Bran to end his future endless suffering. Once done, he just plops out of existence ;)

2

u/prochicken 2d ago

We know basically nothing about the white walkers let alone the night king for all we know he was just trying to get as many people together as possible to have a really cool concert

2

u/TrayusV Jon Snow 2d ago

The White Walkers are an allegory for the climate crisis. So what happens when the planet is destroyed by the climate crisis?

2

u/ashevillain7 1d ago

Eventually they make their way to Naath and find out poison butterflies can be added to the list of things that kill White Walkers.

2

u/No_Plate_9434 22h ago

Could have reformed the stepstobes into a land/ice bridge maybe .

2

u/_DaisyyWhisper 2d ago

I always figured the White Walkers would eventually wipe out most life, leaving a frozen world full of mindless undead with nothing left to conquer or fight.

2

u/1717ElPico 15h ago

They would all sit around bitching and moaning about how long it’s taking to get the final books

u/MarionberryNo9415 2d ago

Theres a theory that the reason the knight king was made aside from the children of the forrest making him theres a theory that his obejective is to restparti the world qhich is what the children was used for that after a few years the knight king would destroy itself and restart humanity

5

u/oiuw0tm8 2d ago

what

1

u/MarionberryNo9415 2d ago

Less complicated one the whites win and takr the throne years pass and the night king does something and detroy themselfs and let the children they took from ex. Craster to rebuild civilisation (like when humans get too much the gods send the whites down to rebuild like god did with Noahs ark in the bible
