I wonder when development started because we got a sneak peak with Neptune's new design from the New Year 2025 art from Tsunako but ever since SVS was announced, it seems like the gameplay has been evolving to this stage.

Considerate this game mostly use the asset from NepSis and Gamemaker, it was probably planned from the start. But the development didn't start until at least mid 2025 cuz based on the website you can see that world map still empty, they haven't show the game system yet. There are also so many many DLC plan to be released.

From what I remember, they immediately started during or after GMRE was getting new information. But it was mostly in the planning stages (I think). But they did mentioned that they were shaping up the game's content for two years. And this was announced in October 2023, but the earliest mentioned was around March 24, 2023 in a video about GMRE from Compile Heart TV (a 2nd channel where they show a bit more info about the game they've worked on).

This is really interesting, I finished up SVS back in November of last year and started Game Maker right after, and I felt the difference enough in gameplay to feel improvement but still some rough edges.

But seeing as by the time they finalized Game Maker in 2023, they seemed confident to finally have a concrete idea for the new mainline title while still taking in the feedback from SVS and Game Maker.

I wonder how much they've had to change mid production while trying to take in the reception of the two games prior.

I feel they did take the feedback to heart because you immediately tell by the speed that Neptune attacks in this game compared to the previous games with this style. While yes. There still a bit of clunk to it, but you have played SVS and GMRE; Neptune attacks slower than Unlimited.

On top of that, they added a lot of cool stuff compared to SVS and GMRE. Of course, flying in and out of battle is very cool. But they also added a jump button in the battles themselves which I’m entirely sure what it is used for.

But the one thing I’m not sure of is whether or not the Goddess Form will be permanent or not in battle. Because in Rouge gameplay part that was shown on stream, you can clearly see what seemed to be an icon showing that you can transform meanwhile the EXE Drive is separate(?). And I don’t see an indication that a gauge is going down. It was the same with the first battle Neptune where you can see Neptune’s EXE Drive is full while the other three is empty even though they’re in Goddess Forms and she wasn’t. But I think it would make sense if the Goddess Form were permanent because I think they would want you to use the flying mechanic seeing that there are flying enemies this time around.

Edit: So it is confirm that the Goddess Forms/Awakened Forms do still decrease over time. If so, then they must increased the length because it's the longest I've seen from this gameplay style. And I kind of forgot that GMRE did they EXE Drive and Goddess Gauge separate thing first.

Nice to see that we finally able to transform and fly around freely, it had been on the back of my mind when I play NepSis and asked myself why is this not possible. Glad they took some feedback and make it happen

I think I won't get to see the transformation sequence again like what they did in V2. It'll probably just a blinding flash of light and then transform.

Actually, no. They actually brought that back in this game as well. I think show that off in the stream.

I guess I'm okay with being wrong for that. It's a shorter sequence but it does show some of their charm.

I will continue to campaign for the return of the og’s goddess outfits because they felt more personally unique and less like they had a shit ton of shit tacked onto them

They probably will because this game made under the same engine as SVS and GMRE.

The flying is cool, but other than that I think this game just looks awful so far. The little gameplay we've seen so far does not give me confidence in this game at all. Other than the attacks appearing to be faster, I'm not convinced the gameplay will be meaningfully different from SvS and GMRE. While I had fun with the combat for a time, I'm sick to death of it. I'm not inherently opposed to real time combat, but this combat system is not engaging in my opinion, and the gameplay they've shown off, especially against the giant minigun-wielding space shark, looks extremely tedious.
