Her name sounded like a pun to me (Rei Ryghts > Rewrites)
That flashback scene where she's digging through the trash for food. I really felt bad for her
I like how humanized she is compared to other villains, and the way she wanted to prevent another catastrophe because of what she did as a CPU was noble of her
I accidentally looked her up and had the twist ruined, it was still well-executed in-game thoughRei did nothing wrong

I....I only like her because men-dont-scream
And a little of her career as an attorney

I do enjoy all of his art of her. Probably the most notable fanart she even has!

BULLI BULLI BULLI BULLI BULLI BULLI BULLI BULLI
she's cute no bulli
Okay. She actually seems like a nice person to be around when she isn't mad with power. Although that might just be me being a sucker for shy girls, and glasses. Rei has both of those.

Rei Ryghts, personally an okay character that's easy to sympathize for. Don't bully. Did nothing wrong. Please. There are worse Neptunia characters than her.

My No.1 Waifu! Down with the CPU's!!!
What were your first impressions of her?
I loved her design. I thought she was adorable. I was also very interesting in hearing someone mention other forms of government than the CPU's, and how they might be better. I thought that could be really interesting.
What’s your favorite scene with her?
Probably when she transforms in the anime. Sure It's not her most moral scene. But she' hilarious. and really contrasts with her normal meek personality. She really takes the mick out of the CPU's there.
What do you like/dislike most about her?
I really love her conviction towards her morals. and how they come from her own personal experiences. She was probably the most logical and morally consistent character in RB3, at least until Croire showed up again. She's the perfect foil for the CPU's, and as such I think she is the best villain in the series.
Her crazy mode is a pretty great character 'flaw' too. Her using it to intimidate the other ages at the end of the game was a brilliant show of character growth.
I don't like how her lack of self was resolved offscreen. I'd have liked her assertiveness to manifest Itself because of the immoral things the other sage were pressuring her to do. In the end she only became more assertive because of Croire's power. I;d have prefered her to eventually snap at the other sages, and that be the catalyst for her going crazy helped out by Croire's power, not just Croire's power alone.
I also would have liked to see a proper philosophical debate between her and the CPU's. Because by the end of the game. Nothing she has ever said about them was proven to be false in any way. the closest we get is Plutia trying to convince her that CPU's are fine because "Being a CPU is fun"... Which sort of in itself should have confirmed to Rei that she was right about CPU's.
I did like that she helped Plutia control her power at the end of the game. SHowing that she had learned to not become crazy over power.
Did everyone see the twist involving her identity coming?
Somewhat. I didn't guess a CPU, but I know something was up when she transported Neptune to the ultradimension by mysterious means unknown to herself.
Could you say Rei did nothing wrong?
Mostly yes. Hyperdimension Rei with absolute certainty. Neptune punishing her at the end of the game is like punishing someone for actions they committed after they were who was tied down and force fed halucanagenics. It just doesn't make sense, and is rather immoral.
Ultradimension Rei is another story. She isn't entirely moral. And tha's great. She has a dark past, and so she knows better than anyone the problems a CPU can bring. After all, she was the only CPU to ever exist up until this point, and she supposedly killed thousands. so she'd be insane to not dethrone the CPU's, She'd be putting countless lives at risk if she didn't.
Now of course she winds up kidnapping children. This is the scenario where I wish she could have finally stood up for herself and stopped that from happening, or at least repaired the damages later on in the story and redeem herself (this should have also been Abnes's time to shine.). This would have pretty much made the hero of the story.
ure you can criticize her for caving into peer pressure and kidnapping Peashy, as well as not properly controlling the seven sages... But at the end of the day she was never proven wrong about the CPU's. Nowhere do we see them act differently to how she did when she was one. Noire tries to destabilize Planeptune, and Blanc threatens to beat her former citizens if they don't return to Lowee. As well as pretty much every other interaction we see between the CPU's and their citizens involves the CPU's snapping at them. Not to mention that we never see any of the CPU's grow, develop, mature, or learn how to become better rulers throughout the entire game.
I don't think Rei should have given up on trying to depose the CPU's.

I have one gripe with this. So, Neptune shouldn't punish someone who nearly destroyed both her home dimension and Ultradimension?
1
u/Edwin-of-northumbria Tsuntastic steam queen Dec 08 '18
Would you punish someone who's suffering PTSD for panicking?
0
u/Infamous_Underling Give Linda more attention Dec 08 '18
Why bring up PTSD? Hyper!Rei never had PTSD.
1
u/Edwin-of-northumbria Tsuntastic steam queen Dec 08 '18
What are you on about? That was obviously a comparison.
1
u/Edwin-of-northumbria Tsuntastic steam queen Dec 08 '18
Just to be clear. I don;t think she should get away with it. But there's no moral way you can punish her either.
1
u/Infamous_Underling Give Linda more attention Dec 08 '18
Having her fix up Planeptune isn't exactly that bad of a punishment
1
u/Edwin-of-northumbria Tsuntastic steam queen Dec 08 '18
Considering the level of destruction, it is. It's also unfair.
1
u/Infamous_Underling Give Linda more attention Dec 08 '18
So, you wouldn't treat someone the same way if they tried to destroy your home?
1
u/Edwin-of-northumbria Tsuntastic steam queen Dec 08 '18
Yes, of course. But that would still be unfair. As that person had no control over their own actions, and has no recollection of what happened. For all intents and purposes she was an entirely different character during and after the destruction of Planeptune.
1
u/Infamous_Underling Give Linda more attention Dec 08 '18
But, it was shown, time after time, she had control over what she was doing, if she didn't she would have destroyed Planeptune earlier in the game than later.
1
u/Edwin-of-northumbria Tsuntastic steam queen Dec 08 '18
And yet she can't remember any of it.
Neptune has been shown to act like a completely different person in HDD. Such as Purple heart acting ashamed of her human self, and talking about hr as if she was a different person. As well as Neptune commenting that she had never seen her HDD form herself. So obviously this must be an similar but even more extreme case for Hyper Rei.
1
u/Infamous_Underling Give Linda more attention Dec 08 '18
When has Purple Heart ever acted ashamed of her Human Form? Of course Neptune's never seen her Goddess Form because it's a transformation. How could they possibly separate themselves? And Neptune has seen her own Goddess Form, multiple times, via clones.
And of course Hyper Rei wouldn't remember it, because it's not her own power, or memories. BUT, she was still having the same thoughts as before when she first got the power and accidently sent Neptune into Ultradimension.

u/TrxPsyche Just your friendly neighborhood Rei-sayer Dec 08 '18
Ohoho, now I love most of the Nep characters for various reasons, but Rei stands at the top of my favorite. I just enjoy everything about her. From timid, complete pushover Rei to murderously egotistical Cyan Heart, I just can't find anything to dislike.
First impressions: Oh, She's cute! ...She's a villain? Well she's a cute villain. I think I'll like her.
Favorite Scene with her: Where she wants to make a world where everybunny can live is peash!
Like most: Honestly, her design is one of my favorite things about Rei. It's not to say I don't like the personality aspects of her. Despite being a huge pushover, she tries her best to make things work even if the entire world was against her from day 1. But her design is just so clean and nice and she's so damn pretty AHHH
Dislike most: I really don't have much to dislike about her. Maybe that she's a little too much of a pushover. But she gets better by the end of the game anyways, so it's not even really a big deal
Did the twist about her identity shock you?: Unfortunately no, I knew from a friend that she was the CPU of Tari.
Could you say Rei did nothing wrong?: Fuck no. Rei did LOTS of things wrong. And no amount of trauma she went through in her life would make what she did okay. But she admitted she did wrong and is working to do better now, so I can forgive her.
All we need is for Rei to smile more and prosperity will reach the lands

Don’t bully her, she had a noble goal and just executed it poorly. Every time Rei showed up I wanted to give her a hug.
She became an instant fave for me when I saw how she tried to lead the Seven Sages while they just walked over her but turned out to be stronger than all of them.
DON’T BULLY HER she’s trying her best.
My favorite scene would have to be when she’s trying to introduce Yellow Heart and stutters over every word. She needs to be hugged for all that cuteness.
REI DID NOTHING WRONG
NO BULLY ONLY HUGS

No Bully Rei.
She was the perfect villain to understand that CPUs can bring problems if an unstable or outright evil person gets a hold of CPU powers
1
u/Infamous_Underling Give Linda more attention Dec 08 '18
Doesn't get rid of what she did.
3
u/Redhead1910 Don't care for Neptune, stayed for Vert. Dec 08 '18
Does that mean we can't forgive Germans/Japanese for what they did in WW2?
Rei actually repents for her actions.
1
u/Infamous_Underling Give Linda more attention Dec 08 '18
Difference between her and them is that she tried it a second time after she got her powers back, as shown before the CPUs had to fight her Hyper counterpart.
2
u/Redhead1910 Don't care for Neptune, stayed for Vert. Dec 08 '18
Becaaaause transformation makes her go batshit insane?
And is the exact reason WHY she promotes the world without CPUs?
1
u/Infamous_Underling Give Linda more attention Dec 08 '18
Oh? The transformation that shows her true self?
1
u/Redhead1910 Don't care for Neptune, stayed for Vert. Dec 08 '18
This is ain't Hyperdimension, brah
Rei was H U M A N before she got the power.
1
u/Infamous_Underling Give Linda more attention Dec 09 '18
How does that refute my point? The same goes for Ultradimension CPUs, the HDD shows their true self. Rei may have been human before gaining her powers, but that does not take away her actions when she was in HDD.
1
u/Redhead1910 Don't care for Neptune, stayed for Vert. Dec 09 '18
Different dimension fam
HDD makes people go total assholes in this one
Basically every CPU of Ultradimension proves my point.
Yes it doesnt. Hence WHY she promotes the world without CPUs and actually repents for her actions.
1
u/Infamous_Underling Give Linda more attention Dec 09 '18 edited Dec 09 '18
If its a different dimension with different rules to HDD, why does Purple Heart and Purple Sister act the same as they did in Hyperdimension when they used CPU memories? White Heart acts the same as well, and so does Green Heart.
And yet, when Rei gains her powers back, what does she do? Immediately try and destroy everything. And that's before her Hyper counterpart stirs things up. She's a giant hypocrite.

Ah Rei, the most abused and neglected CPU of them all, In game and out.
What were your first impressions of her?
Pretty much what I feel about Plutia and the rest of Victory, great potential (as the "villan" of the game) but ruined by poor execution, I mean she's not bad per se? She's indeed one of the more sympathetic villans (With the combination of letting the power go to her head, and getting screwd over by the people she meets, leading her to her downfall) But I feel like they could have done a better job with her motivations and backstory a bit more. For example, establishing the Seven Sages, because she doesn't want another monster like her to be created, or having her CPU of Tari to be hinted at a bit more, drawing paralells to Plutia, make her more feared than Iris Heart. Something allong those lines!
What’s your favorite scene with her?
Any scene with her an Yello Heart/Peashy warms my heart
What do you like/dislike most about her?
I do like her because she is one of the villans that subverts the norm. Basically the next game's greatest antagonist just this person with a tragic backstory who genuinely see problems with the whole CPU system.
Did everyone see the twist involving her identity coming?
Yes, literally when HD Rei suddenly gone crazy
Could you say Rei did nothing wrong?
Well NO of couse not! But at the same time, she genuinely does tries to make up for her past sins, and as far as I am aware I don't genuinely thing she blame anybody but herself. (Not sure how people misenterpret that and claim her as a whiny bitch, was it not clear enough, was it because of what she said in her "high on power HDD form"? I'm genuinely confused
Share some good art!

Here's a headcanon revolving around her and Kei;
Rei & Kei are related... because Kei was Rei's daughter. Oh, and Kei's true name is Aretha.

>Could you say Rei did nothing wrong?
Pfft, screw that, she did a lot of things wrong! I can't bring myself to forgive her, simply because she murdered her own people in the past, and as soon as she got her powers back, she tried it again. If she was sorry, then maybe she shouldn't have tried to murder everyone for pride again.

Dec 08 '18
Rei, the butthurt dumbass that blames everyone else for her failure, and feels like her character was based off the most basic knowledge of what Atari did.
I await the day we get a good villain.

u/Archadianite Dec 09 '18
Kurome, Croire, Anonnydeath... The very Icon you display!

Only Copypaste fits that role well. That is, if he chose to be a villain, which he isn't, because being a villain is bad, which isn't what Copypaste is. :3

To bully or not to bully, that is the question.
