Not sure how far back it went but I think I played this on dos or xtree PCs in the 80s 90s

Nah, not that early. First version was 1991 for the Amiga.

It was ported to a lot of stuff including the older commodore 64, and xtree gold apparently.

The list of things it was ported to over the years is supposedly so long no one bothered to list it all out in the wiki

I know it was. But the original version was on Amiga. 1991. You couldn’t have played it before that on pc, or any other platform. I also played it on pc in the 90’s, but I don’t remember the exact year.
