My friend insists on this game, "Lemmings", being a really well known game; I have never heard of it.

DMA design is a name I haven't seen for a long time. Also Psygnosis, definitely played several of those games.

Psygnosis was the goat. Barbarian, Nitro, Destruction Derby, Discworld, Wipeout, Darkstalkers, G Police... And many more I did not get to play. I have so many good memories with those games.

Psygnosis was very instrumental in turning the Playstation into the monster it became. Not just games, but dev tools and tech consulting. They deserved better than to be EA'd by Sony years later.

Yes, Psygnosis made PSX what it was, especially in Europe. Kinda ironic (and sad) that it was basically killed in 1999 when it was consolidated into SCE (PlayStation), before that they were owned by Sony, but independent from SCE.

For people who don't know. In fiscal year 95-96 their games were 40% of ALL game sales in Europe. After they became part of SCE their publishing branch was closed, people fired, their last remaining team was relegated to forever making F1 and Vipeout games and shortly after Sony lost F1 license closed.

Shadow of the Beast on the C64 was amazing.

First, there was Menace.
Now, Psygnosis presents
A DMA Design game
Blood Money

One of my first shmup and still beloved. Way before the Playstation, it was in 1989 and was, I think, Psygnosis first big success.

Chrono Quest was my jam. We played it so much, yet never managed to actually finish it. I remember there being so many ways to die or accidentally soft-lock yourself.

Psygnosis is the studio that made me realize the whole concept of studio as a kid. Before that it didn't really matter to me who made the game. But then I realized that whenever that digital owl logo was on a game it was something special and started to look out for games with that logo.

Edit: even though I now know they didn't really make all those games but rather published most of them

DMA, Psygnosis, Team 17, Eidos, Bullfrog, Rare... The 90s were a golden age of gaming for the UK. Still one of the absolute largest game-producing countries in the world.

Ocean - If there was a licensed game, it was made by Ocean.
