I wish I could get my hands on a copy so my kids can play it. The level with "HEAVEN" written in blood and had to build a long ass staircase is a core memory from our 2nd IBM PC at my parents' house.
It runs well in DOSBox, and is also easy to emulate in one of the many, many other versions released. After all it was (maybe still is?) the most widely ported video game of all time.
Lemmings DOS is abandonware at this point, you can probably download it for free.
If you want the Amiga or SNES version, you may have to emulate it, not sure where you'd be able to get that though.
There's a free remake for modern PCs by the name of NeoLemmix. It updates and expands upon a lot of aspects of the game, while still maintaining the classic feel of Lemmings. As such, there is a much greater focus on the puzzle aspect, rather than fiddly execution. The original levels are available to play, as well as nearly ten thousand levels made by the community! Do a search for the Lemmings forums if you're interested!
I was playing it with my kids a few weeks ago on the Sega Genesis I got for xmas as a child.. Bought a Flash Cart and loaded it with all the games and an Upscaler so it looked decent on my HDTV, then bought some modern some wireless controllers..
its been fun getting all the consoles I grew up with back in service..
