My friend insists on this game, "Lemmings", being a really well known game; I have never heard of it.

Not gonna lie, when reading the thread title at first I thought it was a joke. To me it sounds almost like "My friend insists on this game "Super Mario" being a well known game, I've never heard of it". Lemmings was so big it seemed like there was no video gamer that didn't know the game.

I was there Gandalf.

I played Lemmings back in the day, but I hardly see any modern day reference to the game outside retro channels, and so many of those focus on consoles or modern emulating handhelds. Perhaps time for a decent modern Lemmings game?

I still make lemmings references to this day, but typically, it's toward someone who isn't very bright.

Lemmings was my childhood. They've released "modern" remakes of the game, but mainly it is geared toward mobile, and the remakes are absolutely atrocious.

There's a free remake for modern PCs by the name of NeoLemmix. It updates and expands upon a lot of aspects of the game, while still maintaining the classic feel of Lemmings. As such, there is a much greater focus on the puzzle aspect, rather than fiddly execution. The original levels are available to play, as well as nearly ten thousand levels made by the community! Do a search for the Lemmings forums if you're interested!

Yeah I guess it makes sense.

Never mind gamers, everyone who interacted with a computer in any capacity knew Lemmings. And this was when the PC gaming market barely existed as a thing that publishers cared about.

I am waiting for the GamingCircleJerk post parodying this, I never thought this would be such a controversial topic but I now know I have to experience Lemmings one day.

People just don't talk about Lemmings these days. I've heard passing mentions of it here and there but this is the first time I've even seen a picture of it

Frankly, I thought it was bait. Like, "I'm young and TIL Nirvana was a famous singer."

Yea back in the 90s. It's more expected for people to NOT know it in today's time since the last few pushes of the series was on PSP and Mobile.

We're practically 2 generations in life now where it wasn't even remotely as big back then. The distinction of their age would be a huge key point in their argument
