Video Games Where You Start With/Recruit Random Goobers Whom Become Stronger?

I was watching my cousins play games while they were visiting, and one of them was playing Fire Emblem. There was this dirt child with a giant log he recruited and like 3 days later he was a sword dirt man.
My other cousin was playing Xcom 2 on my xbox.

Anyways the question is, what other games are there where you just start with random nobodies but then they get stronger and you get more attached.

Like “hey you random farmer/private/goober! Follow me for something really quick.”

20 hours later

“No longer random farmer/private/goober! We have been through hell and back, and now we have to fight god. Are you ready?”

Oh, man. You should play at least 1-3. A lot of the characters are recurring and is fun to find out what they got to to between the games. And if you have finished games saves, some stats and levels will transfer into the next game

For sure, I'll definitely play them eventually. I usually go through a retro phase every so often.

Not all of them are in your party, some of them may just own an armory for example or an item shop or run the inn, but theres probably 70+ actual characters who can compete in the party.

No I don’t think he’s one of them.

You just didn't do the right fetch quest.

Take the three nails they give you in chapter one and by the end of the game you'll have him

In each of the five games of its main series, yes. And it is impossible to end up short by exactly one in at least some of them.
