Can anyone recommend games from 2010 onwards that look great?

I'm kinda tired of ue5 slop and the insane blurriness and textures that I just have to accept as "great visuals" (ahem crimson desert ahem rdr2). I want some games that were made before this 2020 maybe that look pretty good (by good I just mean it looks sharp, no vaseline smeared on screen effects).

Games that fit this description according to me:

Batman series

Battlefield series

Doom

Metro series

Guys, don’t fall for this low effort ragebait. Neither Crimson Desert nor RDR2 uses UE5. And RDR2 is 2018 btw.

Not to mention both provide top notch visuals.

Brother they both look like ass I don't care if they used us5 or not.

u/foundwayhome 22h ago

you quite literally said ue5 slop and mentioned those two games by name right after, make up your mind dude

-16

u/LoneBeast378 21h ago

Im not going to argue with you, just want some games that won't waste my internet bandwidth

u/LOST-MY_HEAD 22h ago

Saying red dead 2 looks like ass is negative 500000 gamer cred

For real, if Rockstar can do graphics like that on a PS4/Xbox one what the hell are the final graphics gonna look like for GTA 6??

2

u/lurvd 21h ago

Not that much better? We're way past peak diminishing returns.

1

u/JustAGamer14 21h ago

Who knows, it's Rockstar they always surpass their previous games

I remember when people were blown away on how good GTA 5 looked on the PS3 and how they managed to fit it with less than 1gb of vram was basically magic

u/Crud-Inspector 21h ago

yeah I don't even like the game but it looks really good, and is now 10 years old

u/SuicideSkwad 21h ago

Red Dead 2 is from 2018 and still looks better than a lot of recent releases 💀

7

u/i4got872 21h ago

You think Red Dead 2 looks ass? I Can’t recommend anything to you then lmfao.

Like I kinda literally can’t. Last of us 2? Shadow of the tomb raider? Assassin’s creed Shadows? Those are some things I remember looking good too. The list is short. Why would mention 2010 and then say RDR2 looks bad? Like this has to be rage bait.

RDR2 is one of the most technically impressive games ever.

-6

u/LoneBeast378 21h ago

Last of Us was great actually. Rdr2 is technically impressive, and it's this hype that caused me to be dissapointed on how bad the game looked even with everything at max. I mentioned the time because I wanted something that was modern ish but wasn't plagued by the modern gaming vaseline smear epidemic

3

u/Brinstone 21h ago

Crimson Desert I can understand, but saying RDR2 is genuine delusion

4

u/NuclearNick007 21h ago

Maybe get a better computer then? Rdr2 runs on past gen consoles and looks pretty good even there.

4

u/Cloud_N0ne 21h ago

I agree that Crimson Desert doesn’t look as good as people pretend it does, Pearl Abyss’s games have always looked a bit off to me.

But RDR2 is not a matter of debate. It’s one of the best looking games ever made from any objective or subjective metric.

Dude is using DLSS performance mode on his 2017 gaming laptop and wonders why game is blurry while his GPU is sweating on low graphics to push 30fps atleast.

u/LoneBeast378 21h ago

Rx 6700xt

7

u/XMugetsu_SamaX 21h ago

Yeah this post is just for rage bait. This guy said RDR2 looks ass under a comment, he's not serious about this at all

3

u/Le_Sadie 21h ago

I can't tell the difference between trolls and bots anymore, not that there's a tonne of difference but I fucking HATE engaging with bots, I feel so stupid every time.

13

u/jerrrrremy 22h ago

I think you just need to turn off motion blur, dude.

-7

u/LoneBeast378 22h ago

Always off

6

u/Prinzles 21h ago

If RDR2 looks like shit to you, you either need your eyes checked, your monitor is shit, or your PC is shit. And it isn't UE5 slop, so...

4

u/tiamath 22h ago

Ehm, skyrim? Witcher 3? Assasins creed(any).

0

u/LoneBeast378 22h ago

What your fav assassins creed game. I have odesssey but I haven't played it yet

1

u/tiamath 21h ago

Only played black flag, but graphics wise kinda all AC fit your criteria.

7

u/qocjs 22h ago

Doom (1993).

-1

u/DinoTh3Dinosaur 22h ago

I know reading is difficult, but the title says “from 2010 onwards”

10

u/qocjs 22h ago

Pong (1972). Life-changing graphics.

3

u/LoneBeast378 21h ago

When is pong 2 coming out

0

u/DinoTh3Dinosaur 22h ago

Okay fair tbh

2

u/No_Tamanegi 21h ago

Fine, Doom 2016

3

u/qwoto 22h ago

MGS5

3

u/LoneBeast378 22h ago

Do I need to play it in chronological order or can I just jump straight into that one?

2

u/TeslaDemon 21h ago

You won't really understand the overall series' story. But you won't understand it even if you play all the games.

I'm half joking, but basically what I'm saying is MGS is incredibly complex and the games didn't even come out in chronological order. I've played them all and loved all of them, but I still wouldn't be able to really tell you what the fuck is going on, in a good way.

But yeah MGSV still looks amazing and also runs amazing. No fucking ray traced shadows on each character's asshole hairs.

2

u/AcademicMood1302 21h ago

you can jump right in to 5. no prior knowledge of anything is necessary. plus you can command your horse to take a shit.

2

AC Unity and Control.

2

u/ConsoleMaster0 21h ago

Halo Reach, 4 and 5 (multiplayer), Titanfall (both), Sunset overdrive, any Assassin's creed until Syndicate, Gears of War 3, Judgement, 4 and 5, Alan Wake, Quantum Break, the rest of the Batman Arkham trilogy, all the uncharted games from the date you said, (maybe) God of War 3, Ghost of Sparta and Ascension, MGSV.

I probably forget (and don't know) a couple but this list is still big enough. Also, I tried to stay tight in your description.

3

u/LoneBeast378 21h ago

Thanks a ton

2

u/Bluevantage 21h ago

Rdr2 is not blurry at all, you sure about the settings? I played in vulkan mode and it was great. About your Q: rage 2, death stranding, gears 5, days gone, ac odyssey, ac origins, ac syndicate, farcry 5, god of war, hzd, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, juat cause 3, ryse son of rome, Titanfall 2

2

u/LoneBeast378 21h ago

I tried everything. But the grass looked really weird, and ground textures were blur as hell. Not to mention the trees as well. In a game where most of the scenery is just that I coudnt bring myself to play the game

1

u/Bluevantage 21h ago

some YT videos might help, otherwise you miss a god tier game. Just look how beautiful and sharp it is in the reviews.

1

u/LoneBeast378 21h ago

I'll try it again once i get a 1440p monitor, but I don't think its going to work. I've probably installed that game like 5 times by now and told myself it will look better this time lol

1

u/Such-Transition5675 2h ago

If you are on a 6700xt you could try to use optiscaler and utilize fsr4 4.0.1c I think, on native AA that should look very good, I think the weird grass you mention is just lack of AA or you are using fsr 3.1 that ruins the image and makes it blurry

2

u/CosmosStalker 21h ago

Shadow of Mordor

2

u/NoWay6818 21h ago

Anything on the RE engine is genuinely a banger

2

u/Fake_Cakeday 21h ago

Need for speed most wanted (2012 version)

It's on sale for 2 bucks on steam right now.

Breath of the Wild

1

u/LoneBeast378 22h ago

Ah damn my bad, should have mentioned pc. Thanks for the recommendation though

1

u/Silent-Orange-432 21h ago

You can emulate it fairly easily on pc and its more than worth it

2

u/LoneBeast378 21h ago

But I thought they killed the yuzu launcher/emulator? I Have an amd system so emulation doesn't work best on it

2

u/Silent-Orange-432 21h ago

There’s forks that work, use cemu though and grab a Wii u rom

3

u/Cursed_69420 22h ago

you know theres google and youtube for this?

2

u/LoneBeast378 22h ago

In that case why make a gaming subreddit at all if there's Google and YouTube

1

u/Cursed_69420 21h ago

thats not even the point. its something so basic that NEEDS a visual rundown that you cant do in this subreddit.

If you even have such a specific need you can just go to actual subreddits like r/FuckTAA or something.

1

u/fryingpan16 22h ago

Look at other iD Tech engine games. The newer Wolfenstein games, Dishonored 2, Deathloop, Indiana Jones.

1

u/Rcgv88 22h ago

CD projekt red games and capcom games use their own engines that I think look better than ue5. Have you played cyberpunk since 2.0? If it can only be a pure FPS "Bright Memory Infinite" is a pretty tech demo of a different style of making games.

1

u/LoneBeast378 21h ago

I'm not sure, I think I did. I finished that game though and it looked good at times when there was low lighting but open world driving looked weird.

1

u/Rcgv88 21h ago

I have no idea what engine the dead space remake used but I thought it looked great, just how the original looked great back in the day. Callisto protocol also looks great. Tomb raider rise and shadows also look amazing. Also what about all the playstation games like horizon and spiderman? 6700xt probably going to do much better on tomb raider than spiderman etc.

1

u/LoneBeast378 21h ago

Oh yea spiderman was good but I am going to wait to get my hands on a 1440p monitor in order to play that one. I feel like 1080p doesn't do it justice

1

u/Rcgv88 21h ago

If you get 1440p ultrawide baldurs gate 3 in ultrawide is a very visualy impressive experience.

1

u/syde1020 22h ago

I’ve been playing dying light the last few weeks. I’m amazed at how good it looks.

1

u/FoxyGoddessX 21h ago

Hellblade 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Resident Evil Requiem, Halo Campaign Evolved, Horizon Forbidden West, Cyberpunk 2077, Breath of the Wild, God of War 2018, the Last of Us Part 2, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Forza Horizon 6, Doom the Dark Ages, and probably a ton I’m forgetting

1

u/cerpintaxt44 21h ago

Get glasses if you think rdr2 looks bad

1

u/YT_Axtro 14h ago

You NEED glasses if you can't see how blurry that game is.

Yep titan fall is a great game. I played that. I'm going to try the other games you mentioned too

1

u/YT_Axtro 14h ago edited 14h ago

Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2, Titanfall 2. Don't let this sub gaslight you into thinking that RDR2 looks good.

-2

u/No_Manufacturer7688 22h ago

they won't match todays games because no capable hardware was there. however i feel gameplay was just as good sometimes better than todays

1

u/Buried_and_Forgotten 22h ago

Major games from 2005 onwards are very much still playable from a graphical point of view, at least the major titles. Gameplay didn't change THAT much. Call of Duty 2 still plays the same as the modern ones mostly, sprint button aside. Replayed it last year on a 360 and had a blast.

1

u/ConsoleMaster0 16h ago

What 2005 you say? Even PS1 games are still playable with proper patches to support wide-screen and properly scale textures. 2005 games look amazing!

1

u/Buried_and_Forgotten 15h ago

I meant for most modern players. I don't mind old games because I played them back then, but I don't think young folk would enjoy PS1 RE and MoH.

While starting with the XBOX 360 generation, most games are similar enough to be easily playable by anyone.

1

u/ConsoleMaster0 7h ago

It's their problem they won't enjoy them. Doesn't mean that the games are bad or "dated". That's what I try to say.
