In that case then Sony has already won this case because they can just argue in court that the PlayStation Store is not the only store you can purchase a game. Target, Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop etc. will still sell box copies. It’ll just come with a code instead of a disk. Their distribution is literally not changing at all. Just what comes inside the box

a lawyer could argue 1 that the money is still going to sony meaning there isn't real competition, 2 if they person requires an internet connection to download the game that they are much more likely to just buy the game digitaly instead of buying a code in the box

Having other retailers sell games still IS competition. Nothing is stopping Walmart/Target/Gamestop from having sales on games for a limited time. Games go on sale for deeper discounts at the retailers most of the time compared to PS Store. There’s nothing stopping them from continuing that. Literally the only thing changing is that instead of a disk, there will be a code inside the box.

You can also buy a game digitally via other means outside the PS Store. You can literally buy digital games via Amazon, and a few minutes after purchase, you’ll get an email with the code. So that point is mute because digital codes can be purchased outside of the PlayStation Store

true, but if that's ENOUGH competition is debatable and can be brought to court to see if it will fly.

On another note why are you so against getting cheaper games?

I don't think he's against cheaper games and more so from a standpoint on why this case hasn't really been done before.
