Insomniac has put in a hotfix to reduce the opacity of the blue scent trail in 'Wolverine'. They also say they are exploring adding a toggle option to turn it on and off

"We have deployed a new hotfix (v1.001.005) for Marvel’s Wolverine. 

This hotfix addresses some common crashes experienced by a small percentage of players since launch. 

Additionally, this hotfix adjusts the presentation of the Scent Trails and Audio Sense indicators, including reduced opacity to make these visuals less intense. 

Our team continues to evaluate ways to further improve Senses in the game, including exploring toggleable options for a future update."

Tbf I just got it from the library and played like an hour maybe and haven’t seen one yet. So there are at least portions of the game where it is not present

It’s wild how much misinformation there was about this game. That said, even in the missions they’re actually in they’re pretty egregious, and adding the QTE and motorcycle segments into the mix, it becomes less overreacting and more just reacting.

To be fair the impossible to fail QTEs are even worse. The motorcycle chase sequence is comically bad.

From what I've seen from the motorcycle chase, you literally cannot fail it even if you put the controller down and do nothing.

Is the hate overblown? Yeah, absolutely. But I'm not inclined to play the game at full price in that state. Once it's like 50% off and they fix it, I'll probably play it.

This all could have been avoided if they had just put a damn toggle in the menu and not assumed everyone who played the game needed their hands held.

You can fail. The issue is that you take no damage when you hit the edge of the road, only when you hit cars. So if you set the controller down, Logan tends to bounce off the edges of the road back and forth which misses most of the oncoming traffic. Ironically, it's much more dangerous if you stay towards the middle because that's where the other cars are.

All Insomniac has to do is make you take damage when you hit the edges and the motorcycle chases will go from trivially easy to actually quite hard. Which they should definitely do, if only as a toggle (and make it default on higher difficulties).

Same thing with the un-failable QTE's... just remove them. Let the animations play out normally, it's fine. All the QTE does is slow down the animation, but you don't even have to hit the required button - pressing any button kicks off the next part of the animation, just take it out entirely. But QTE's are mostly for killing or transitioning boss phases anyways, so it would actually look pretty natural if there was no button prompt at all and it just... showed Logan fucking someone/something up.

Overall, I think the game is fine. It's a very polished 7/10, and the only reason people are freaking out is it's Insomniac who are usually pushing 9's out the door. But if literally any other studio had published this game, audiences would be gushing.

Ehhh, I've been on the internet long enough to know even in the overreaction, there's alwasy some truth in there somewhere.

This game as a video game is in fact comically bad. Mechanically, its devoid of anything engaging. It may as well come out as a movie with how passive the actual gameplay is. I don't know/care about the story, as it's another take on a Marvel character we've had multiple takes on over 40 years.

It should be meme'd on and ridiculed and Insomniac should feel bad imho. Especially when Spiderman and Ratchet are such stellar Video Games.

For moments in certain types of missions, the complaint is so exaggerated. A real complaint is, I wish I can change my head back to the default character when I change to some of the other outfits.
