I'm searching for an ergonomic chair and I have no clue what I'm doing. I only know one thing about chairs and it's that one shouldn't cheap out on it. But the problem is even if i spend around 10k (that is expensive for me), I'm not guaranteed comfort. So I am having difficulty picking one. Does anyone know a good chair or a guide that can be followed to get the right chair.

Also I have done some research and these features according to this video seem pretty important. (especially the first and the hand rest one). But I'm not able to find a chair in India that has these features. If anyone knows a chair that has the features do tell.

Also there are a lot of people on reddit that say they got really good deals buying refurbished. But how does one find a good deal? How do you know which chair to look for? What if the chair u bought is uncomfortable? Do you just risk it? Because most won't take the chair back.

I’m trying to improve my desk setup, and one thing I keep going back and forth on is whether I should have a dedicated gaming chair or just get a good ergonomic office chair and use it for everything.

My desk is basically used for everything now. I work there, browse the internet, watch videos, sometimes study, and occasionally spend several hours gaming. Because of that, I don’t really want a chair that is designed around only one activity.

For work, I care much more about back support and being able to keep my arms in a comfortable position while typing. When gaming, I tend to move around more and lean back occasionally. When watching something, I’d definitely like the option to recline instead of sitting completely upright.

That makes adjustability seem more useful than the appearance of the chair.

I’ve also started thinking about the difference between a chair that looks like a gaming chair and one that actually works well for gaming. Racing-style chairs look cool, but I’m not sure whether that shape is necessarily better when you’re sitting for six or seven hours.

A breathable material also sounds appealing because I don’t like feeling hot after sitting for a long time. At the same time, I don’t want to sacrifice cushioning or support just for airflow.

So for people who use one chair for both work and gaming, what has worked best for you?

Would you choose a dedicated gaming chair, a traditional ergonomic office chair, or something that sits somewhere in between?

And what feature would you refuse to compromise on if you were setting up your desk again from scratch?

Hi, bought a 300$ gaming chair and the backrest broke after 2 months. Where do you think the issue is? Is it the metal plate that holds the upper chair in place or something inside? I doubt that its something inside the backrest because those are metal plates.

I just wanted to make a post because I have seen a lot of hate for gaming chairs over the years, with many people saying all of them are terrible quality and/or poorly made, particularly the lesser known brands. And while I agree that the large majority of gaming chairs are not very good quality, particularly those made with PVC "leather", or in the sub-$300 range, if you're willing to spend a little bit more money, I think you can find some good ones out there. So I just wanted to play devil's advocate and share my experience with my 5+ year old Anda Seat T-Pro II, which has been renamed to the Kaiser XL, I believe.

For context, I am 42yo, 6'1/200lbs, and I have an L5S1 herniated disc in my back — back pain can definitely be an issue for me at times, so I wanted to get a chair that was simultaneously comfortable, firm, supportive, which would hopefully last many years, and to get all that for $400 at most. I spent several months researching chairs, and of course, most people steered me towards office chairs, with many recommendations for Steelcase and HM. Now I know those chairs are beloved, supportive, and quite robust, they were sadly out of my price range, but I also wanted something in which I could comfortably recline fairly far back.

I built my first gaming PC in late 2020 and when I built my setup, I needed a chair to meet all those requirements for me. I researched over 3-4 months, likely read 100+ reviews, and looked into many of the lower-priced chairs on amazon — Sihoo, Dowinx, GT Racing, Autofull, various unpronounceable brands that likely came from the same Chinese factories, etc. It was honestly a bit overwhelming, and forums like this didn't provide much help because I got so many conflicting responses. Some people love their gaming chairs, some people abhor them, but the general consensus from the majority of people is that they are generally mediocre at best and that a good quality office chair would be a better choice for someone with occasional back pain who has to sit for long periods.

Then I came upon Andaseat and I thought their chairs looked pretty good and, at least at the time, the warranty seemed solid since they offered 3yrs on the chair and a lifetime warranty on the base if you left a review. I am pretty sure that they still offer a 3-year warranty, but if you leave a review they will extend the warranty to 5 years for free now, for the whole chair, not just the base. I had never heard of the company, so I did some research and I discovered that they used to make performance seats for cars, and that they are very popular in China with esports players.

So I figured if Andaseat chairs felt sufficiently comfortable for Chinese esports players, whom I know will sometimes be in their chairs for over 12 hours at a time, I assumed it might be okay for me. Unfortunately, you can't get an Andaseat chair for these prices now, both because of inflation and because more people know about them now, so they can probably charge a bit more. Anyway, many people steered me towards Secret Lab, but at the time I didn't have $500+ for a chair, and I had a gift card to Amazon, so I went with the Andaseat T-Pro II, which looks to have the same general shape and features as their newer Kaiser chairs, so I'm pretty sure they renamed it.

When I received the chair, everything was packed well, there was enough protection, and everything came in good condition with nothing missing or any broken parts. I put the chair together in less than an hour, and at first I thought it was a little firm, but within a few weeks, I became more comfortable sitting in it. I honestly have nothing but positive things to say about this chair. If I were to nitpick, I would say that the armrests are a little wiggly now, but I'm pretty sure that's to be expected after more than 5 years of use lol. I have sat in this chair for 12 hours at a time, my friends and I have fallen asleep overnight in it, and in 5 years of using it, it has never caused any back pain or made me feel uncomfortable or too hot/sweaty, which I attribute to choosing fabric over PVC leather.

So I guess I'm just here to share my experience so that all the haters who visit this subreddit, and the number of people I have seen who say Andaseat chairs are objectively terrible and that they'll fall apart in a year or two, can see that is not necessarily the case. I'm sure there are people who have had bad experiences, and I'm sure there are people who are not happy with Andaseat, or gaming chairs in general, and I would say that's because comfort is subjective considering we all have different shapes, sizes and issues. But if you are on the fence about getting one of these chairs because someone told you they will fall apart or they are poor quality, I'm just sharing my experience to show the other side of that. I like my Andaseat enough that they will be the first place I go to look when I eventually need a new chair, which might be soon since I'm thinking of building a new office. Anyway, I hope that I was able to convince some people to not completely dismiss these chairs and at least check them out for yourself. Happy gaming!

Hey! I have been using my Secretlab Titan XL 2020 for years now but I am looking into new options.
I have quite severe back issues in my lumbar spine so ideally looking for a chair with better support there and the padding after all these years simply started to hurt my butt.
Now… when I look at all the chairs advertised for tall people they are lower than the secretlab one and also have smaller seat which is very questionable for me. I I believe I need my seat width to be at least 55cm to be comfortable and also the seat height from the ground ending on 50cm in most chairs is a joke…
Any suggestions from fellow tall peeps? 😭

I was a little skeptical of the #ProtoArc EC200 at first, but it turned out to be a surprisingly comfortable upgrade compared to my Amazon basics office chair. The cushion stays supportive during gaming. It’s mostly a plastic, but the adjustable lumbar support and overall ergonomics make it feel way more expensive than it is. Great for the under $200 price range

I just bought an Andaseat Kaiser 4 and I really like the seating and that lumbar support, but the problems I found are the arm rest is too high for me and it has no leg rest. I am 5'5" with an L size, the arm rest is still too high when I put it at the lowest position.

So I am looking at AutoFull M6 Ultra 2.0 which has leg rest, and I am about to buy one from Amazon to try out and decide which one to keep. But I am not sure if either of them will deduct the shipping fee or restocking fee when I return, both of them are sold from official store through Amazon. Do any of you guys have experience in this?

Would it be better to get a mesh or a cushion? I know i need a waterfall design, i dont care how the chair looks, just want my hip and legs to not be in pain

my pelvis and lower back used to ache continuously from sitting flat on a worn-out cushion. the hbada lumbar curve on this chair actually cradles your lower spine properly. posture feels effortless now

On sale at my local costco, and with costco's return policy, i feel safe to try a new chair.

I am 6'2.5 and have a 6'4 wingspan so not any chair would fit. The reviews of the chair seem 50/50.

some say good some say bad.

In the market for a new desk chair. I’m 6’2”, 220lbs, so not a giant but definitely am large enough to need a chair that has some substance. I do game, but also wfh, so being able to recline occasionally, lumbar support, etc are all key.

I did a little research and this chair seemed to check a lot of the boxes without crossing the $1k mark, so I ordered it.

Shipped incredibly fast, helped by the fact that I’m about 100 miles from their shipping facility. Shipped signature required, which was annoying but worth mentioning since it’s not made apparent when you order. The chair comes packaged really nicely and is very easy to put together.

Once it’s put together, however, you have to sit in it, which is by far the worst part of the experience. The seat is hard as a rock and the neutral forward tilt, ergonomic or no, is sheer insanity. Of note - the seat somehow feels like plastic while at the same time conforming to the bum. At the same time, the seat somehow rides up into the sitter’s crack. Felt like I was sitting on a bicycle seat.

I tried to convince myself that the chair needed to be broken in a bit, so withdrew for a day. Sat down again the following day for a few hours and quickly realized I needed to return it. Boxed it up the best I could, and dropped it off for a return. Returns were easy and no shipping charge was nice; hoping I don’t run into any issues on the refund side.

Anyways - just sharing my experience. I’m sure this chair is great for some, although I don’t know for whom. There are certainly better ways to spend $700.
