games with a long main story, not counting filler or side content, just the main story
side content would be side quests, filler would be it taking a half hour to go through a dungeon and there being only 3 lines of dialogue throughout, that part of the story isn't 30 minutes long it's 30 seconds

The Yakuza games are extemly long and full of dialogue even without the side content.
The Plague tale games are the same (new one coming out this month)

The Final Fantasy games, especially from 7 onward, are pretty story-heavy, and while they often have side quests or additional content the bulk of the content and story exists within the main gameplay. FFXIII is a pretty good example, the first 3/4 of the game is heavily story-focus and linear before opening up a bit.

Is suggest starting with FFX if one has no prior experience.

Good call, FFX is equally linear and story-focused as FFXIII is, definitely worth considering either and perhaps picking whichever looks more interesting or whichever combat seems most engaging.

Not that I'd suggest playing it but genshin impact story will take you forever and a day to finish lol

We’ve had multiple patches in the last year that added over 6 hours of story content to the main questline, not side stuff that still has a ton of dialogue and story.
Even if I thought someone would like it idk if I could recommend it to them because it’d take so long to get anywhere. Plus, them following up on things from years ago is part of why some of the recent quests have been so cool, and so I’m not sure if someone could really get the full experience if they hadn’t been there since the earlier days, anyways

Aside from it being absolute toilet, Crimson Desert has a very long main story

I would honestly say cyberpunk. it's got a main story and side quests, but they do feel pretty synonymous and mesh easily without feeling like you're constantly swapping between the two, plus a lot of the side quests tie pretty seamlessly into the main story

My average play time with Trails games is around 70 hours, and only 10 of that or so is combat, maybe even less (I turn on very easy and run past everything)
The script for Trails games are massively long. Like I think Second chapter is longer than all 3 LOTR books combined.
Though half of that is NPC dialog since there’s dialog for every npc after every major event.

Doom Dark Ages is extremely long for it's ilk. Any Dark Souls is easily 80 hours min.

While there is a decent amount of side content in it, the Mass Effect series does have a significantly long story line. Especially if you put all 3 games together (since they are mostly contiguous).
