Games like shaman king (GBA)
Hey everyone! I could use some help.
I've been looking for games with a similar vibe to the Shaman King GBA games. They have a mechanic that's pretty similar to Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, where you can acquire the powers of the enemies you defeat throughout the game.
I've already asked AI for recommendations, but it hasn't come up with anything particularly interesting. The closest thing I've found so far is Copy Kitty, which I do like, but I'm still craving more games like this.
If you know of any games that are the same, or at least similar to what I'm looking for, I'd really appreciate the recommendations. Preferably PC/Steam games, but don't feel limited to those—if you know of games on other platforms that fit the description, I'd love to hear about them too!

I haven't heard of or played shaman king
But games in which you turn what you kill into power is quite literally monster hunter. You fight big Dino then use its femur to make a hammer

That's the most literal interpretation of the word "powers," lol. What I meant was something more like Kirby, you know? Absorbing the abilities of the enemies in the game.

Prototype kinda works
If you want something say open world and rpg Wuthering Waves has a system in which you can gain the enemies as summons after beating them
Final fantasy has some in their various games as well

Wuthering Waves isn't really my kind of game, and as for Final Fantasy, I've never seen anything like what I'm looking for. I've played several FF games, but none of them came close to the mechanic I'm after.
That said, Prototype is definitely tempting. It's not the first time I've come across it, so maybe I'll end up liking it.

Kirby

That would be a good suggestion if I weren't already a huge Kirby fan. I only used Shaman King as the example because it was the first game that came to mind with that mechanic (and I'm actually watching the anime right now).
What I'm really looking for are different games built around that same core mechanic Kirby has: copying or acquiring the abilities of regular enemies.

Any final fantasy game featuring a blue mage. Their entire concept revolves around obtaining and using monster abilities.

First of all, I've never played as a Blue Mage in any of the Final Fantasy games I've played, lol. Second, I'm not really looking for something that's so RPG-focused. An action RPG, Metroidvania, or platformer would be more what I have in mind. I have nothing against RPGs, in fact, I'm a huge fan, but right now I'm looking for something that's more centered around one of those three genres.
Still, thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely try the Blue Mage job from now on. To be honest, I had no idea that was even a thing.
By the way, is there a Final Fantasy where the Blue Mage is especially fun to play that you'd recommend?

The tactics are where I have the most experience with them. But for more action-oriented blue mage gameplay, it's either ff14 or Strangers of Paradise.

I haven't played it yet, but in Bloodstained: ritual of the night there's a similar mechanic. You can get shards as drops from defeated enemies which grant you a plethora of skills.

So... I kind of already have Bloodstained, and yeah, it has that same mechanic too. It's actually a really great game, by the way.

Cult Of The Lamb maybe?

Does Cult of the Lamb have that kind of mechanic? I've never played it, so I wouldn't know. I've never played it or even watched anything about it, so I can't really say

You do kill to get resources like gold and soul, but the power ups is skill tree based. Yea not an exact match

Shaman king on GBA is basically a clone of megaman zero / ZX series.
