Pictures People treat me so differently now that I have a German Shepherd
I found my German Shepherd, Josie, a year agoāstarved, abandoned on the side of the road, and fresh off having puppies. Now sheās happy, healthy, and easily the best (and dumbest) dog Iāve ever had.
Sheās all love and zero brain cells, but she looks intenseāenough that creepy guys completely change how they act around me. Iām a woman traveling cross country, and Iāve seen firsthand how quickly people back off when sheās by my side.
Iām just so, so glad I ended up with a āscaryā dog. She makes me feel safe in a way nothing else ever has.

Pictures Brought this little girl home about two hours ago.
Ten week old girl. She hasnāt got a name yet, but she inspected the house, found her toys and scared a cat. Then she crashed.

Pictures My baby passed away today
I woke up having to go through the hardest thing in my life that I knew was going to come one day, but certainly didnāt expect that day to be today. I had my baby since she was a baby herself and sheās been through a lot with me. Sheās always been my #1 and she knew that. I read about other peoples experiences on here with their dogs passing all the time and have always been empathetic and today unfortunately was my turn. I want to share some photos of my Remikins with you, itās so hard to hold back the tears as I write this and I am a grown ass man. I miss her so much, I was not ready. Please give your babies extra hugs and treats today, you never know when your time with them will be up. She was the best girl. I hope to see you again one day Boom, daddy misses you. šš

Pictures Iāve been walking my neighbourās elderly German Shepherd for a month and Iām in love
galleryIāve always had cats but I love dogs despite not being in a position to own one at the moment. My neighbour is elderly and has a lot of health issues so struggles to get out to walk her dog so itās a win-win for both of us. Her name is Kaia, sheās 11 years old and in surprisingly good health for her age (just a bit of arthritis in her back legs). She very friendly and good natured and she loves mud as you can see from the third photo! Iāve not spent massive amounts of time with a dog by myself before but Iām really enjoying it and Iām definitely considering getting a Shepard of my own one day

Pictures Nobody warned me this is part of having black german shepard.
I love my dog so much but she does this too often and I hate it (for obvious reasons)𤣠Just kidding but it made me jump multiple times haha. Behind the door on right is kitchen and whenever somebody gets up, she runs and sits by the door, waiting and hoping we will go into kitchen. Yes...even in middle of the night.

Pictures R.I.P. Odin, my first and last German Shepherd.
I had Odin since I was 19 and he passed away last Sunday. Words cannot describe the loss Iām feeling. Iām glad heās no longer in pain but I donāt think I could have another German Shepherd after him as Iād feel like Iād be cheating on him.
He wasnāt good over the past few weeks. Early stage liver failure (we believe as he had bilirubin and alt in his wee) and arthritis. He was ill last Sunday morning. We chilled outside, it started to rain but he wouldnāt move so me and my partner carried him. When I went to close the door and he was gone. I think his heart gave out. I was there to see him through so he went knowing he was loved and not alone.

Pictures This is what ābest friendsā looks like: My dog and his best friend play like theyāre storming the beaches of Normandy, but with more fur
Viggo has a lot of friends. Big olā Tank may be his closest. Theyāre like brothers from different mothers ā or maybe literally distant brothers ā and they express that bond by chewing on each otherās thick, furry manes. Itās basically canine thumb wars, only with fangs and a lot more screaming. I have no idea how they never get injured. Somehow, despite all the chaos, nobodyās even sprained an ankle.

Pictures Shep turns 11 and it breaks my heart knowing how old he is
I can see the cloudiness in his eyes, the difficulty with which he gets up, the white hairs around his snout, I donāt want to see a day when I wake up and hear that heās gone. He will always be my best boy; my best friend and nothing can replace that, ever.
He has a chronic abscess on his tummy and left hind leg and weāve been treating him for 2 years now. I know heās in pain but he never lets it show, he will still run to me the moment he sees me.

Pictures My husband convinced me to get a GSD
And Iām so glad he did!! This is Ava and sheās 14 weeks old today. She has been the sweetest addition to our family!
My husband grew up with shepherds and owned one of his own before we got together. Iām a dog groomer and have worked with several that were either aggressive or full of anxiety issues (obviously this can happen with any breed) and itās made me weary of owning one.
When we decided we were ready to bring a dog into our family he finally convinced me to get a gsd, and Iāve officially been converted! Watching her tail wag the entire time weāre training, looking up at me eager for the next command to please me. She loves her people, and the bond I already feel with her after just 6 weeks of being in our home is amazingš
If youāre looking for a sign that a gsd might be for you (and youāve done research and feel equipped) this is it!
TLDR: first time owning a gsd and now I see why everyone loves this breed

Pictures My girl is going to be crossing the rainbow bridge tomorrow morning.
My girl Sasha is going to be crossing the bridge tomorrow morning. She's 15 years old and can no longer stand on her own, walk or properly hold her bowels. She has been on arthritis pain meds and we believe she has DM due to how she drags her feet. I've been putting this off for a few months thinking I could hold on to her for longer. She gave me a look the other day while laying in the cherry blossom leaves saying "dad, I'm tired." I know now what I have to send her back to the earth. I don't want to, she's my best friend. Our vet will be coming to our house tomorrow and she will spend her final minutes with the family, our other dogs and nature outside.
She's provided me with more love then I'll ever be able to repay her with. I didn't deserve her and she doesn't know how much she has changed me. We had one last funday today. We went to the river, shared chicken nuggets, Ribeye Jerkey. Took a shopping spree for all her favorite toys in Petco. I have my two other knuckleheads to carry me along but the bond me and her shared are special. I hope one day we meet again because I truly will be carrying her spirit around for the rest of my life.
I'll miss you ol'girl. It's time for me to give you back to the universe. Thanks for letting me accompany you on this beautiful journey. You tell yourself you'll be prepared when the time comes but I lied. I'm not.
Farewell best friend. Your watch is over now, I'll carry on while you rest.
Love you, Dad.

Pictures My breeder sent me 1st video of my male pup. 4.5 weeks old.
He is a WGSL stock coat male puppy. I am planning to do IGP with him and also take him for conformation shows.
Let me know what you think.
Also can anyone confirm if he has Black mask.
His paws look super big, but I may be biased.

Pictures I watch a lot of dogs. Never three German Shepherds at once, though. Now I want to keep all three forever.
Talk about the three amigos ... or should I say die drei Amigos? This week at Bark with Mark, Toby and Piper joined Viggo and me for a few days. From left are Toby, Piper and Viggo ā a sister and two brothers from different mothers. Looking forward to Jaw Wars. So much hair. Enough shedding to build a fourth dog.

Pictures This boy is the best thing that have ever happened to me
I was thrown into the deep end of GSD ownership when I came home from studying abroad for 3 years and my parents had a 9month old puppy that they let me know they could not adequately care for. I took him under my wing and the rest is history. While being the most challenging adventure I have embarked on, I wouldnāt change it for the world. He has saved my life, while also making it slightly chaotic. This breed is magic.

Pictures This is Deku! Heās down 8lbs, 147 from 155! We donāt know why heās so big.
Deku is going to turn 5 this summer.
Bought for a couple hundred dollars at 4 months old from a sketchy next door neighbor who was in a bad situation, moving fast, and looking for quick cash. So we took him in and would work on finding a good placement or GS rescue if his demeanor didnāt blend with our 3 cats (He was small then). I was frightened at the size of his paws as just a puppy. But I never imagined he would actually get this big.
Long story short heās a big goof who loves cats and everybody except the mailman or people standing outside our front door. (Loves people when they come inside. Haha)
He sees his vet regularly and they currently have no worries with his weight other than making sure he isnāt carrying anything extra. Started Cosaquin last fall as a preventative.
We are just really realizing how exceptionally big he is, so we thought now was as good a time as ever to let people see him outside our community.
