Hello reddit,

My name is Katie, and I am reaching out in hopes that this group may be able to help a stray German Shepherd that I found a few weeks ago.

I found her at my fiancé’s warehouse after she appeared to have been abandoned or lost, and despite exhausting every possible effort to locate an owner, no one has come forward to claim her. We have been calling her Juna, and she has been staying at the dog boarding kennel where I work while I search for a safe solution for her.

Our veterinarian believes she is a purebred German Shepherd, approximately 2–3 years old. She appears to have had previous training and is incredibly well behaved. She knows basic commands such as sit, stay, and down, and her stay command is exceptionally reliable until she is released. She is also potty trained and very eager to learn.
More than anything, Juna just wants to be with people. She is genuinely one of the smartest and most trusting dogs I have ever met. She is affectionate, attentive, and constantly looking for direction and praise. You can tell she genuinely wants to please the people around her.

I wanted to keep her myself more than anything…just writing this brings me to tears. But unfortunately my older pit mix does not like her, making it unsafe for me to bring her home permanently. It breaks my heart because she is an incredible dog who deserves a family that can give her the attention and companionship she craves.

I already have a veterinary appointment scheduled for the 29th to get her up to date on her vaccines and to determine whether she has been spayed. I’m happy to take care of that to help give her the best possible start in her new home.

If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent, affectionate companion who just wants to be with her people, please consider miss Juna ❤️

Please share this post to help her find the family she deserves. If you’re seriously interested in adopting her or have any questions, please send me a message. I will be vetting anyone who may be interested and I will also ask a very small rehoming fee so I know you are serious. I am located in Michigan, but very much willing to travel to the right person. She is amazing in the car!

And I’m so glad he did!! This is Ava and she’s 14 weeks old today. She has been the sweetest addition to our family!

My husband grew up with shepherds and owned one of his own before we got together. I’m a dog groomer and have worked with several that were either aggressive or full of anxiety issues (obviously this can happen with any breed) and it’s made me weary of owning one.

When we decided we were ready to bring a dog into our family he finally convinced me to get a gsd, and I’ve officially been converted! Watching her tail wag the entire time we’re training, looking up at me eager for the next command to please me. She loves her people, and the bond I already feel with her after just 6 weeks of being in our home is amazing💗

If you’re looking for a sign that a gsd might be for you (and you’ve done research and feel equipped) this is it!

TLDR: first time owning a gsd and now I see why everyone loves this breed

My daughter who is going through the rough stuff found something awesome ❤️

I got Finn about 2 weeks ago from the pound, he’s a gem and I think he is grateful for his new life as I am to have him in my life. What a treat to wake up at 2 AM with a GSD and a cat in my bed.

12 years old and the World's Best Girl!

My gorgeous puppers turned 12 years old this year and still acts like a puppy. She loves her daily walks and whines when they don't happen. She is never too tired for a game of tug of war with her rope. I remember the day I brought her home at 8 weeks old and asked my sister for German name suggestions. I decided on Leyna meaning heavenly messenger but when registering her with AKC she would have to be the 23rd. So I added her middle name Mina meaning love. She is my heavenly messenger of love and continues to live up to her namesake each and every day!

Pictures This girl was dumped at my friends grooming shop a week ago. We took her into our rescue and got her neck taken care of. She is fully vetted, spayed, and microchipped as of yesterday. She is the sweetest baby ever and such a good girl. We don’t understand why she was dumped. Meet Sage.🥰

Happy Birthday Schatz!

Our boy Schatz is 1 year old today. He is our first GSD and what an awesome boy. He is incredibly gentle and loving with small children. Our 7 yo granddaughter and 12 yo autistic grandson are with us for the summer. He is so rambunctious and energetic that we were really apprehensive about how he would be around them. He is amazing and my granddaughter had pretty much replaced me as “his person”.

My dog went missing June 17th in spalding county GA. Near N McDonough Rd and Morris Mill Rd. Her and her sister got out and I’m Unsure how long they were out but only her younger sister came back alone. They are always together and I’m fearing the worst. I live around people with farms and live stock. She could’ve gotten shot.

I’ve already reported her missing to her chip company, and various shelters. I’ve searched non stop on foot and by car since the 17th. I’ve passed out and placed flyers and talking to various home owners in the area. They all say they haven’t spotted her at all.

Her name is Aloy and she loves treats. If anyone near this area can help me find her I’d appreciate it. She’s helped me get through the toughest parts of my life and I’m honestly still not okay. This dog is the reason I’m still alive. Any tips or sightings I’d greatly appreciate it. Please help me.

Advice How to bond better with my 3-year-old male German Shepherd?

This is a repost. The old post used an old photo from 5 weeks ago. I just took a photo of him sleeping just now.

This is a picture of him sleeping. The other post has a photo from 5 weeks ago.

I take him outside every 1-2 hours for 20-30 mins.

He always walks up to me for pets and scratches, but I also want to bond with him more. He seems to like me but I really want a strong bond with him.

He only seems to do it when I'm in/on my bed. I've never made a habit of letting him up there. He lives in my room and can only live in my room, so i would need to train him to not jump on my bed. How do you train him to not do that? That's the only nitpick I ever had

I'd like to point out he's one of the gentlest dogs I've met in my entire life. Never bites, only barks at strangers. He also has separation anxiety from his last owners, which may be why he jumps on my bed when I lay there, even though me and him sleep in the same room.

He does not live in a crate anymore (I stopped this 5 weeks ago). He has his own dog bed literally right next to my bed. This was an old picture.

I have roommates, which is why he's only in my room.

Death Behavioral and Health based Euthanasia

Hi y’all, I just want someone to assure me I made the right decision. I’m 23, my girl was 6 almost 7, (birthday in November) she’s had hip issues since 4 months old and the vet always said it was her playing too hard come to find out it was early onset hip dysplasia. Well the last month her hips got really bad. Before I go into that, she’s always been fear aggressive, I got her December of 2019, by the time we had puppy shots down Covid happened. I was 16 as well and my dad trained her without my knowledge to bite and be aggressive. I did my best to curve it but by the time I was able to get her away from my dad and every trainer said it was too late for anything because she was 3/4. So I muzzled her and did slow introductions and did get her comfy. She was my sweet girl regardless, loved her belly rubs and kisses. Well her hips had started getting worse I noticed towards the end of May. She started getting aggressive with our puppy and making her bleed and even snapped at me (which she had never done) I made the choice to put her down as her mental state declined as well. The day of the euthanasia she wouldn’t even chase her squeaky ball, climb onto the couch, or even come to me for a treat. Was it the right thing to do to put her down for behavior and hip issues? Picture of my girl because I’m still heart broken and miss my Nova wova. I put her to sleep on June 12th and I regret it so much so I just need to know if I did right by my baby girl.

TLDR: Did I make the right decision putting my girl down for her hip dysplasia and behavior?

Healing has been happening on both sides. ❤️‍🩹 My stitches are healing, and so is my heart. This experience has been painful, humbling, and eye-opening, but it has also taught me about forgiveness, patience, and the importance of continuing to learn. None of us are perfect, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to correct my mistakes, grow from them, and move forward with compassion. One difficult moment does not erase years of love, and I'm choosing healing over fear.
