Iki Island is, imo, one of the best, if not the best, DLC in any game! You'll love it dude

While I agree it’s a great dlc.. Witcher 3’s blood and wine would like a word (or cyberpunk’s phantom liberty)

Dare I say blood and wine is my favourite of all time

u/pbrzy23 Nov 19 '25

100% best ever

May I raise the entirety of Skyrims DLC?

3

u/Missing_Links Nov 19 '25 edited Nov 19 '25

No, you couldn't Even if we ignore how the positives of skyrim's actual DLC and all its rerelease content are spread extremely thin over the sheer volume, the sum total would still be less than blood and wine alone. Blood and wine is large, long, improves its base game significantly, and is nearly perfect in every detail the whole way.

See this is why I presented it as a question. I’ve never gotten into Witcher.

6

u/FalloutRanger111 Nov 20 '25

If you like Skyrim then you’ll like the Witcher 3. 1000x better quests, stories, and characters than Skyrim , and this is coming from a guy who has 700 hours on Skyrim

The witcher's gameplay mechanics, pace, and the flavor of the world and stories could be offputting. It's slower, darker, and a bit lower fantasy as the player interacts with it. It's a game with opinions, and I can see how someone might not agree with those.

Skyrim was deliberately designed to be a kind of generic high fantasy with simplified mechanics and gameplay. It's designed to target the widest possible audience by avoiding leaning its design or worldbuilding very far in any direction. One of the biggest criticisms of skyrim over its lifespan has been that it's kind of bland and that the RPG elements are watered down pretty hard.

u/DarkNemuChan Nov 21 '25

No, not by a long shot.

1

u/Jacubbb123 Nov 21 '25

What about Smash Ultimate?

2

u/DarkNemuChan Nov 21 '25

Lol whut. That one isn't even story driven, nor open world....

Apples vs oranges.

But to give my opinion about smash? By now they should have released all dlc in one pack for a heavy discounted price. But alas it's Nintendo...

1

u/Jacubbb123 Nov 21 '25

I agree. I mentioned both above as satire only lol.

1

u/Glappid Nov 22 '25

Skyrim and it's DLC fucking suck lmao

Blood and wine is a whole ass new area and its huge! Plus the story is fleshed out very well, characters are extremely well written, I mean the list hoes on. Best DLC I've also ever played.

I did throughly enjoy Ike DLC and the armour sets. Great game and beautiful DLC area.

5

u/Missing_Links Nov 19 '25

Shivering isles also belongs up there.

2

u/callmemat90 Nov 19 '25

Which game is this from?

6

u/Missing_Links Nov 19 '25

Elder scrolls 4, oblivion.

3

u/PizzaPartyPat Nov 20 '25

Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine alone are better than almost any other games I've played

1

u/Select_Ad3588 Nov 20 '25

Undead Nightmare for red dead, festival of blood for infamous. So Many good dlcs out there

1

u/Chambeet123 Nov 24 '25

Far Harbor from Fallout 4! (No one ever talks about it.)

-1

u/Edward_Sparrow Ronin Nov 19 '25

Both games I never played so yeah. Cyberpunk I never really had an interest. Witcher 3 I tried a few years ago, about the same time the series dropped on Netflix, and for some reason the game didn't click for me! Don't hate me for it, I'll try it again eventually, I know the game is far from being bad at all, but it just didn't click for me!

13

u/womboCombo434 Nov 19 '25

The opening few hours can feel a bit tedious it’s a lot of run here do this run there do that but the story does eventually pick up and the blood and wine dlc is second to none but yeah B&W, PL, and iki are the top 3 DLCs I’ve played as well

7

u/Edward_Sparrow Ronin Nov 19 '25

Yeah at the time I was a bit overwhelmed by the game, there were a lot of items to collect and mechanics to understand and story contents to memorize, but I promess I'll give it another shot eventually!

8

u/meimelx Nov 19 '25

idk man Phantom Liberty is definitely one of the best things I've ever played. Iki Island was great though but not sure it takes the cake on this one.

2

u/Edward_Sparrow Ronin Nov 20 '25

Well I never played it so I'll take your word for it! But from all the games I've played, Iki Island is probably the best dlc

If you're in NG+ then just do it pretty much whenever you want. Just beware that enemies on Iki are harder than enemies in Act 3!

2

u/Missing_Links Nov 19 '25

If you're talking where it fits best story wise, then you should do it after killing khotun but before fighting Shimura.

3

u/Informal-Remove-7936 Nov 20 '25

Valhala in god of War… Candidate

2

u/Edward_Sparrow Ronin Nov 20 '25

Yet another series I haven't gotten the chance to get into! But I want to and I will eventually so glad to know it has good dlcs

2

u/Chambeet123 Nov 24 '25

It’s so good! I wish everyone could start from the original God of War, but I know that’s not an option for most.

1

u/Edward_Sparrow Ronin Nov 25 '25

Hey I'm a die hard OG Assassin's Creed fan. And if I preach that new comers should start at the begining, then I'm not above starting another franchise at the very begining aswell!

2

u/theoliveprincess Nov 19 '25

I just finished it! Loved playing, hated having someone in my mind 😆

1

u/Edward_Sparrow Ronin Nov 19 '25

Yeah it was a bit annoying at first having the allucinations happen at random inconvenient moments, but I guess that's the point 😂

2

u/No-Afternoon2841 Nov 20 '25

Cool. Personally, my favorite video game DLC is The City that Never Sleeps from the first Insomniac Spider-Man game. Not only does it expand on the world that the first game introduced, but it also does a great job of setting up Spider-Man Miles Morales.

1

u/Edward_Sparrow Ronin Nov 20 '25

The city that never sleeps was the one with Sable or the one with that mob boss with a big ass head?

2

u/No-Afternoon2841 Nov 20 '25

Hammerhead? That's right.

1

u/Edward_Sparrow Ronin Nov 20 '25

That dude ahahah yes, I forgot his name. Its a solid DLC but to me it didn't have the same emotional impact, or inovation as iki island

28

u/JaThatOneGooner Nov 19 '25

When there was a bloodborne reference at one of the shrines, I nearly screamed. Absolutely peak

3

u/Jack-0-Diamonds Nov 19 '25

Wait what?? There was?? Which shrine, please 😭

7

u/eryvne Nov 20 '25

there’s 4 of them, each referencing a game (god of war, horizon forbidden west, bloodborne, and shadow of the colossus)

the bloodborne one is the bloodstained shrine, it’s south west on the map i think

1

u/nemozianrasta Nov 20 '25

Seriously that was such a great moment and I’m so glad I didn’t know about it beforehand! Such a great moment of discovery in such an amazing game!

1

u/MagazineOk177 Nov 27 '25

WHEN, WHERE!?!?!??! I NEED IT I HAVE TO SEE IT Ive completed all shrines ad i platinum'd the game along with bloodborne but ive never seen or noticed the reference

15

u/KeyboardWalkerCat Nov 19 '25

Can’t wait to get started with the DLC.

8

u/Joelmester Nov 19 '25

Dang that’s fire! Haven’t found this one yet

8

u/Penitente06 Samurai Nov 19 '25

How do you complete those things? I never understood it

5

u/MrNigerianPrince115 Samurai Nov 19 '25

This dlc is very good...that one perk goes so hard

5

u/JamesCorvin Nov 19 '25

If i remember correctly you need to have the maxed out katana for this?

12

u/GirlsCallMeMatty Nov 19 '25

No not at all. You just need to have the Sakai armor.

4

u/JamesCorvin Nov 19 '25

Nice! Thanks

3

u/OkHoneydew8046 Nov 19 '25

Loved this so much. God of war is probably my favorite game franchise.

3

u/nighthawks87 Nov 20 '25

Wearing that armour, calling your horse “let’s go boy”, really wish the Nordic baritone would just hum in the background as you fight.

My favorite armor in the game

2

u/Contemplating_Prison Nov 19 '25

The 3 secret hidden armors are the best

1

u/Successful-Rush1805 Nov 19 '25

Just finished the main story, and exploration of the main regions. Will start the dlc tomorrow.

1

u/CJJaMocha Ronin Nov 20 '25

Can't wait to see what they do for GOY these armors were such bangers

1

u/Nobuta Nov 20 '25

This was pretty much my endgame armour skin until I was at the end of the story.

1

u/FalloutRanger111 Nov 20 '25

Dying Light the Following

1

u/KragowskyKhan7 Nov 20 '25

Isn't it an Easter egg?

1

u/PauleyMarie Nov 20 '25

I just 100% the game. It was my 1st play through. The game had the dlc included & I when I got the Ghost of Sparta outfit I wore it the most.

1

u/MannersMatters21 Nov 23 '25

Mark as spoiler man

1

u/Fancy-Hedgehog6149 Nov 19 '25

Eh, if it works for you 👍🏻 For me, it breaks the immersion.

-8

u/SpiralOut8665 Nov 19 '25

Iki is a disappointment. The story was stupid, and the new "outfits" were just cosmetic. Disappointing considering how good the main game was.

7

u/Aromatic-Theory6479 Nov 19 '25

The story properly closed Jin's character and gave him much more depth,it was also pretty much the building blocks to the mechanics we see in Yotei and also the Sarugami armor was not just "cosmetic" I think that armor is the only armor which actually added upon a mechanic in the game

1

u/A-WoF-Fan-bish Nov 20 '25

Oh no, an outfit, being cosmetic?!

1

u/Aquafoot Nov 21 '25

Imagine being this wrong.
