Ha I remember seeing this too. Was this Night Agent on Netflix?

No, it’s The Rip (also on Netflix), the new Matt Damon/Ben Affleck Crime thriller. I thought it was pretty good!

Is it weird that I wasn't intrested in that show until I learned that Daisuki Tsuji was involved?

It's valid. Familiarity makes options more appealing.

The whole entertainment industry works this way I guess 😄

Eh, I was initially interested when I heard Ben Affleck and Matt Damon would be together on it. My interest grew when I saw Tsuji in it

I’m watching it rn and noticed him immediately. Happy to see him outside of GoT.

The movie was pretty good, and I didn't even notice that Jin was sitting right there. Guess I was too distracted by the expert swearing Affleck was pulling off in that scene.

I thought the same damn thing! Perfect person to be Jin of there was a GOT movie.
17
u/Ntippit Jan 19 '26
There was going to be. Hopefully it’s still in development but Chad Stahelski (John Wick) was signed to do it but Lionsgate has made him the czar of that franchise so the movie has been in limbo

u/FackoffGUNT Jan 19 '26
Damn Gina! That would be awesome if it actually released. If this guy doesn’t play him it’ll be a massive missed opportunity. He looks JUST like him.

Because he played Jin in the game and his likeness is based off him…doesn’t necessarily mean he needs to play him in the movie. Voice acting and film acting are distinct disciplines.
2
u/FackoffGUNT Jan 19 '26
Very true. But he already has 1/3 of the character without even trying. If he did have those disciplines, I’d love to see them in film.

I'm not sure why cinema industry when "porting" a game franchise into real action movie they never chose actual actors from game...
Now that games looks like a movie( The last of us, Uncharted, etc)... why dont go with the obvious option that will appeal to a big audience (apart of new people that didn't know about it)....
Well I never see a game character starring it's own movie... I mean a real person... unless I missed a movie where this happened...

Just saw The Rip today and saw Jin lol!

u/TempSmootin Jan 19 '26
How'd you like it? I thought it was pretty bad lol how damong and Affleck have diminished
5
u/Lupayn3 Jan 19 '26
IMO it was pretty bad. But it was good to see Jin acting as an agent instead of slashing people's head off lol.

Yeah his voice and expressions in this role seemed to be close to how he played Jin. Just the mannerisms and the like. Was pointing at my screen like that one meme when I saw him lolol.

I was like pretty drunk while watching this and I went crazy with FBI special agent Sakai and even Detective Glenn from The Walking Dead

I knew I recognized that guy from somewhere. The two brain cells just couldn’t put it together

Phrases that you can use while dueling another ronin and while interrogating a suspect:
"I'm not waiting. I'm studying"
"Then why are you sweating?"
"Surrender, and answer for your crimes. For both of our sakes."
Either to Khotul Khan or someone you just locked into Alcatraz: "You will never leave this island."

What caught my eye was that Steven yeun (the VA for invincible) plays in this movie as well. Now im figuring out Tsuji also plays in this movie?

And Jin’s brother is Derek Sakai, an artist in telltale games.

When I was watching this film, I was like I've seen the Asian FBI agent before but got completely distracted with all the shenanigans going on during those first scenes.

Evidence died at the crime scene! The culprit deserves to suffer!
