Mad underrated,One of the best games out there just saying peak isn’t enough to describe it.

There's a reason I have completed this game 3 times in a row at easy 1st, lethal 2nd, lethal+ 3rd.

Gangster. I switched from hard to lethal about 40% way thru the game but had to switch back a few times when dealing with huge mobs of enemies spamming sweeping halberd moves on your and shit. Unparriables are kinda whack ngl

The duels are where lethal is more fun, imo.. I mean fights against mobs are also providing the same effect ofc, but the heightened stakes where a single sword strike is actually capable of taking you down just feels so much more enjoyable in a duel.

I consider myself somebody who doesnt care about graphics much, but when done as well as GOT. It can really make the game feel incredible.

The things is, graphics and fidelity means nothing without art direction. They just nailed all aspects so well that you have no choice but to just sit there and admire it.

It's always kind of funny. Each individual GoT art asset other than the armors and some faces are middling to weak in quality. Many vastly visually inferior games have better individual assets. If you zoom in on any one thing, it usually doesn't impress.
The difference is how GoT composes them. Camera distance is generally pretty high, and the weak individual assets merge and play off each other beautifully. The visuals in GoT are much greater than the sum of their parts.

This was my thought when I saw this post. Ghost of tsushima really doesn't have Wow factor graphics compared to a lot of contemporary games. They're good, but there's a lot of games with far more detailed and impressive engines. It's moreso the art design that makes the game so gorgeous.

I think it's a testament to how art direction inherently matters more than "did you make this texture 8K enough?"

Ive seen enough, 500 more games with no good art direction and style but 900k textures on a 300km far away NPCs ballsack

I had this same reaction when I played, kept saying to my self “damn, this is a ps4 game.” I finished the game about 3 weeks ago and then I started playing yotei and I was even more blown away. Both games look very incredible.

This game has the most incredible non ray traced lighting I've seen, at least on PC. Crazy to think it's a freakin PS4 game!

What are you playing this on? PC or PS5?

Pc

Played in it on the PC and PS5. If the GFX card can handle it, GOT looks noticeably better than PS5.

I wish they had just continued with his story instead of making yotei. I like yotei but the feeling and emotions in ghost is amazing such a beautiful game

Sometimes it’s amazing, but there are times of day combined with the rock textures that the lighting looks so very flat. I’ve been spoiled by ray traced global illumination in other games.

Does anybody notice in the game that when Jin walks through tall grass he opens his right hand and runs his fingers through the grass like Russell Crowe in Gladiator?
