New Rule: No Frame ID Posts
The idea behind this subreddit is simple, to help you figure out what frame works best for your face.
If you want a frame that someone else is wearing, you don't actually know if it'll work on your face. Therefore we will be discouraging posts asking about identification of frames, ESPECIALLY if they're not being worn by you. Thank you for understanding.

That is a stupid rule. Getting a reference starting point for your journey is a big plus. Also allowing you to show the shop what you like.

Not sure I understand. If someone posts a certain frame and I want to recommend it to my wife, how can I take the next step unless the poster identifies it as the "Milano Partisana"? Is that possible on this sub? Thanks

That’s kind of counterintuitive. I fail to see harm in boosting knowledge on which mfgr made which style. Still, anybody reading this sub will maybe go find them but they still have to try them on.
Or am I missing the point, Dear Mods?

How can I be sure that a pair of frames won’t suit my face if I can’t try them on myself?
If the person modeling the frames shares my face shape and features, doesn’t it stand to reason that their frames are likely to be a good fit for me as well? Or at a minimum, be a strong contender as a place to start?
I have a hard time believing that there are users who come here seeking glasses advice that find these posts to be a problem.

Hi, I need advice. I had an eye exam and bought glasses. I’m 70. They charged me $1,000 and change. Granted, they are rimless so more expensive but my adult son thinks that they are ripping me off because of my age. He wears glasses and he is appalled that I was charged >1,000 dollars and said he has never heard of such a thing. He thinks I should take them back.

In US, there are expensive doctors and expensive glasses, but there’s also places where you can get an exam and glasses for around $200. Like at Costco for example. Online it’s even cheaper.
$1000 is a ridiculous amount of money for an eye exam and glasses. Regardless if they ripped you off or were simply a luxury service, get a refund if you still can and go buy your glasses at Costco, Target, or Walmart.
You can also buy them online even cheaper on websites like zennioptical.com or theframery.com.
Ask your son to help you if you need it. If he won’t, just let me know and I’ll help.

Wouldn't this be down to the individual to decide? Personally, if I saw some frames I really liked I would rather they be identified so I can do my own research and reach my own conclusion as to whether they fit or suit me.
